bof reported today that ryan gosling (the notebook, fracture) is wb's choice for playing batman in the justice league movie. Gosling is 26 years old. Personally, I think this is a really bad decision wb. Gosling is a first class actor and will wind up IMO becoming one of our bests in the future. So why is he wrong for Batman, He is too young. I personally think The justice League should begin when all the heroes of the team are a bit older and masters of there crafts. I think Bale is even too young to pull it off. get somone in there mid forties who is a more grittier, experienced Batman if your going to do this at the same time. Im not opposed to the project, Im not even necessarily opposed to JL Bats being the nolan bat, but make him an older version of him. Nolans current Batman has no business being in the Justice league. He simply would be unable to keep up.
WB listen up, you are making a mistake in the long run here. Justice League will make money any way you slice it, ppossibly more than any other film of its genre ever. But it might really harm the characters who are in it. Dont screw this up when its so easy to get it right. every hero in the league should be mid 30s-40s in my opinion. they each have already proved themselves as the #1 hero of there individual location, so now they come together, as the worlds top heroes, to take on a global threat. otherwise, they are a bunch of rookies and its no differnt than teen titans.

whats your thoughts?

I think Gosling is a fantasic actor and he probably could pull of a younger Wayne/Batman but i'm still against recasting both Superman and Batman.Certainly if Bale isn't involved it could have a big effect on the BB followups.

Why can't they just wait until after Nolan has finished his trilogy? Most people seem to have accepted the direction of the new series and Bale as Batman.JL will kind of trample on that work.Having a new guy as Batman in JL that probably has nothing to do with the Nolan franchise will confuse audiences.

Oh and btw....the rumor originated from the IESB.net message boards not BOF.:cwink:

Let me be very clear of what I have alluded about Ryan Gosling. I haven't been this clear about until now. I was told that Ryan Gosling was the top choice for WB/DC, I don't and I repeat, I don't have confirmation nor do I know at this time that if Gosling has been talked to or even if he is interested in the role.

I have been waiting for a weeks but with the TIFF it has delayed a few things.

I have been told that some news is coming very soon. I don't know what for sure but I am expecting that we will first hear the director and producers announced (George Miller, Barrie Osborne).

You'll see that within a few hours some other outlet is going to start reporting that we are saying that Ryan Gosling is Bats, which again is not the case, we don't know yet. I do like the idea, I think that Gosling can pull of Bats.

Gosling as Batman?

OH HELL NO!

Not feeling him as Batman. I was hoping for someone like Clive Owen or Gerard Butler.

I like Bale as Bats best but if I had to choose another, Gerard Butler would be it.

Not Batman, Batman has to be a tough as nails type guy. He has to be bad ass.

Gosling is a PHENOMENAL actor, but he isn't Batman.

Another hero? Hell yeah, that would be AWESOME because he is a great actor.

As for a young Batman (since they said they wanted to cast the roles YOUNG, right?), maybe Jensen Ackles? He was on Smallville and later Supernatural. He could carry the Bruce Wayne side and also become bad ass in a matter of seconds.

The important aspects of a Bruce Wayne/ Batman... someone who can go from playboy to dark knight instantly upon putting on the costume- both in mannerisms AND in voice. It has to be a hard and ANGRY voice, which is one of the reasons why I don't think Gosling is right for the role- I don't think he'd be able to get his voice that low and gruff.

we will only get the heroes in the suits.
no bruce wayne,clark kent,....

Gosling is wrong due to VOICE. Remember guys this is going to be on large part CGI- right? Not live action? Thus, the physical aspects don't really apply here... the VOICE does. The VOICE matters most in CGI.

Gosling isn't wrong because he doesn't look like Bruce Wayne, that can always be changed later through CGI- hell, look at Beuwolf, the main guy looks NOTHING like he does on screen. What matters is VOICE and I don't think Gosling can get his voice to the Batman level.

Here's a shot of him in the right pose, right lighting, etc. (LOOK AT THE EYES). So I can see where WB may have went with him...

He can pull off the darkness, he's a great actor- but his voice, imo, doesn't fit. Maybe he can though and WB heard him get his voice to the classic Batman level? I don't know, just doesn't seem like he could have a Batman voice.

I don't know about Jared, but I frankly don't know of any other real "tough guy" young actors that can pull off the anger and the 'growl'-level voice. Don't know if they're still looking to cast 'young' or not, have they mentioned anything about that recently?

That's just a sample of how low his voice can get.

Wow, this is pathetic casting. I saw Fractured yesterday, and thought Ryan Gosling was very good in it. But there was not one thing I saw in that movie (or any of Gosling's other work) that suggested to me that he would be a good Batman.

The public will not see him as a good change from Bale, who is popular and accepted in the role.

If this rumor is actually true (and not utter BS like a lot of the other crap being spread around), then does ANYONE think this project is looking good?

I think it's just one of the names they're throwing around right? Age and look is not the problem, voice is. He has the eyes, the rest could be 'changed', just doesn't have the voice. Not many young actors (who WB reported wanting for these roles) can get their voice that low, only one that can- that I know of is Jensen... so either cast Jensen, or some other actor that can get their voice to a growl level and still be bad ass or find an unknown young actor who can do the voice justice.

Jensen can't play serious or badass; hes a clown.

Going with 'young actors' for younger versions of the characters is dumb.

Bale is already the YEAR ONE Batman.

Exactly. This whole "younger" Batman sounds like a total deviation from the character, suggested by people who don't know Batman and are just interested in appealing to stupid kids and teenagers.

Bale is already the young Batman. Furthermore, Batman is not a "young" character. He's obsessed, driven, extremely learned and accomplished, dark, and grim. He's not about having fun. He thinks he's better than his teammates, but the thing is that he's actually right much of the time, and not just being egotistical. Even if he's not old, he's certainly doesn't act like a kid or your typical twentysomething.

The role on Supernatural does range between comedic to serious, sometimes tapping into the character's dark side. And among Michael Rosenbaum, one of the best young actors working on television today.

Interrogating a demon, listen for a "growl"like voice:

Mourning the death of his brother... Pay attention to the final "what am I supposed to do?!" for the 'growl'voice:

Do I want them casting young? No. But if they do- get an actor who can do the voice justice... various Batman voices:

Does anyone know of any other young actor who can get their voice to that level? Because looks can always be manipulated through CGI since this is a CGI film. Just look at the guy who plays Beowulf, for example. Here- especially for Batman- we need someone who can pull off a 'growl' voice. Batman is the dark knight, vengeful, angry, has a hero complex and fits in with the things he hunts/ fights. Most young actors out there either sound too 'boyish' or 'too nice', not many tap into the dark side- they're known for being the comedic relief, or the high energetic college guy. Not many brood or go to that "dark place" like older actors do.

This isnt a CGI film. Only the OMACS and underwater scenes are shot in CGI apparently.

Oh, thought this was going to be like Beowulf, last time I checked?

In that case- Jensen has the voice and the ability to tap into the darkness when needed, but not the look- WB should be searching for an unknown then...

Someone make a manip of Jensen and Gosling as Batman and compare the two to who would be the better choice for the role.

We aren't getting Bale as Batman in JLA, GET OVER IT!!!!!!!

Oh, thought this was going to be like Beowulf, last time I checked?..

I wish.

I actually wouldnt have a problem with that since then it wouldnt step on Christian and Brandon's toes as much.

The new Batman and Superman films were the first DC films since Batman 1989 that I actually thought were awesome; It would suck to have them compromised due to Dan Lin's greedy internal politics.

why the fckin' hell aren't they waiting? Bale WANTS to do team-up films and has mentioned it plenty of times in interviews!

Plus he and Routh have the PERFECT Batman/Superman chemistry... hell, the awards show was even surreal in a DC Universe sense.
