Holly Hunter is a wonderfully amazing and extremely talented actress. When I first saw her name attached to this film I instantly thought Queen Hippolyta. Although not quite on my radar, she is youthful looking even at 56 years old. While only standing at 5' 2", she carries a dynamic larger than life presence when onscreen. As an Academy Award winner, Holly's casting as Hippolyta would add to a potential Wonder Woman solo franchise in a great way. It's a shame she will be in a 'newly created role specifically for her'.

Ditto. Not to be a height-ist, but her 5'2" ness detracts from being an Amazon.

I also think she kinda exudes Americana the way Costner did as Jonathan Kent. Somebody proposed Maggie Sawyer, and I'm thinking that or an MCU role would be what she's playing.

Every time I see Gina I keep getting Wonder Woman vibes from her. I figured out she has, along with many other qualities, a patrician/regal vibe about her, so I like Gina Torres as Hippolyta. Could certainly see Belluci.

Torres is Hispanic, and Hispanics can be of any race; she's a Cuban-American woman of mostly West African descent. So, technically, it wouldn't be incorrect to refer to her as black.

Contrary to what you've said, Wonder Woman has traditionally been portrayed as a white character. (I'm not sure how you personally define "white", but southern Europeans aren't really all that different from northern Europeans genetically.)

Keeping the need for diversification in mind, however, I agree that Torres would make for an interesting choice for the role of WW. I don't see her as Hippolyta to Gadot's Wonder Woman, though. The two actresses honestly look nothing alike.

I'd add Famke Janssen and Jennifer Connelly to that list for good measure but yes I agree any of those women would be fantastic.
