World Web shooter shop class - Part 1

to iron: I need more details, but that sounds good. Also, I would make more than two lines. That is just my opinion.

To nolder: You pump it by flexing. How cool is that? Maybe that's why superheroes do that. And here I thought they were all tony stark grade narcissists.

Oh, no. When I said two lines I meant the two lines making the angle between the web fluid and the spinneret. Let me try to draw you a picture.

This is the flat face of the spinneret (line 1):

fluid comes out this way
________

fluid comes from this way

This is the angled web coming out (line 2):
Zeros are placeholders.
0000/
000/
00/
0/
/

Where these lines would intersect is the angle I am talking about.
000000000000/
00000000000/
0000000000/
000000000/
00000000/
_______/

Like that.

That looks perfect.

Hey I'm new but I want to say that I have follow this since the beginning and your ideas are amaizing

I'm doing my spider-man web shooter too so I'm pretty exited about the final product and I'm a huge fan of White_Widow

I think that the fluid shoul be in a container so that when the air crompresor began to work the fluid spin away but I dont know it may be wrong

What I did to make a fixed cartridge is:

went into target, near the travel hygiene section and found a small can of sanitizer with an aerosol valve. From there, I released the contents.

After that, you just need to screw in a 1/8" schrader valve and reinforce the thing and you can pressurize it. There's another way to do it with coke bottles which is easier, but it won't give you the size that you need.

Thanks! I'll try it. :yay:

thank you 2099. It's worth a try iron. No prob human.

I have now compiled most of the parts needed for maximus 1.0 and minimus 2.2. Canister maximus is lacking a bit though.

Hey guy's what did you find at home depot because here in Mexico we don't have that store where widow find it all

Has anyone thought of using a on and off switch like the ones on electric toys: ----111---- <--- this is the palm trigger. (00000000) <--- wire. ----111---- <--- solenoid valve. (00000000) <--- wire. ----111---- <--- on and off switch. (00000000) <--- wire. ----111---- <--- battery. This uses and on and off click switch. I dont know if that's the actual name. Oh, and the 0s are placeholders.

I was just there yesterday. They have mostly big plumbing stuff thats to big for our purposes. There is 1 section in gardening that has small metal nozzles, metal adapters, and o-rings. The valves that they had in my store were all too big.

Haha isn't it funny how the guy calls himself spider 2099 and he lives in Mexico. Miguel O' Hara much .

does anyone know of a high pressure fluid vessel I could use? I want to avoid polymorph. Ideally, it would attach to some kind of valves and it would have 2 openings on opposite sides (which I'm thinking would go to 2 solenoids)

It depends on how much you want it to hold nolder. A standard coke bottle can hold 150psi. Duct tape 2 inches thick can withstand cannon fire. You mix the two and you're golden.

So how has everyone progressed in the spinneret? Actually, the better question is, what does everyone want the webbing to do once it leaves the shooter?

I didn't know coke bottles were that strong. hmm that just gave me alot of ideas.

I have this vision of using small potted plants as target practice and yanking them off a fence post in my back yard. If it is stronger than that, great! I think it might be a stretch to use these for parkour, much less swinging.

I've been having trouble finding any small solenoid valves that hold more than ~200 psi. but on a positive side, I found a bb gun part that will hold my co2 cartridges. its a pistol magazine so it's small, and it's mean to hold that pressure.

more or less it may end up becoming something like a lasso

Okay, this might be a stupid idea, but has anyone thought of adapting the design of a mechanical pencil? The trigger hydraulically pushes the clamp/valve out of it's retaining collar, allowing the webbing to shoot out... thoughts?

Thats not a bad idea but who are you planing to reduce that mechanism in a web shooter???

interesting. I remember loving papermate clicksters. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Paper-Mate-Clickster-Mechanical-Pencil-Dozen/15066265
to get more lead, you push a lever with your thumb on the side of the pencil. I'll have to find an old one to take apart. this could be exactly what I need for my trigger.

and thanks widow for the solenoid!

I thought of that on the last day of school in study hall but I didn't think it was a good enough seal to hold the fluid back.

when i said lasso i meant it would be used mostly for grabbing/pulling things

I created a web shooter, pressurized it, and fired water successfully from my wrist. :woot:

It turns out however, that the web fluid however is much more difficult. :cmad: It clogged the fuel line leading to the shooter. Being that it is a gel, it blocks the tube like an artery. When it hardens though, (because I got a few globs to fire) it has all of the properties of webbing except for strength.

What that tells me is that we need to stop focusing on the shooter (now that we have one.) and on the formula, whose viscosity is too thick.

And don't worry. About a year ago, I would have just kept the shooter to myself, but I'll show you guys how to build it.

:exp:
