To iron spider, That's good, but cellulose acetate is 10$ per pound, and hits solid, not gel. It's known for making fibers as well.
To MarvelFan: I don't think so. That property would only be useful outside the shooter. The pressure would make it really hard to get the fluid outside of your tank.
Guys, where do you think we could find a good spinneret? We all have our individual pressure vessels and valves. You want a braiding one, iron. I want a splattering plethora of threads. Any ideas?
Nice. Where'd you find it for that price? I couldn't find it anywhere. So then, cellulose acetate is the plastic?
I'm not really sure. I'm rethinking the braiding thing, but I think we may want to look for a company that can make custom parts out of the material of choice, like Teflon. We could probably make our designs and send them in. That might get pricey though...
All cellulose acetates have a differing tensile strength due to the water content. It's going to be that of styrofoam, but it's going to be flexible and translucent. Just make sure it's dry.
Sounds good. So how are we going to combine that with the adhesive? We're using spray adhesive that's pressure sensitive, right? Also, have you found any specific adhesive we can use?
Theoretically. A pressure sensitive adhesive has varying degrees. we want duct tape rather than scotch tape type adhesives. We need natural rubber and a tackifying resin. Now you can actually buy a permanent tacky adhesive. that's the tacky resin. There is also the rubber. You can actually buy that. Now I'm not sure if the tacky resin in the spray contains rubber. All I know is that the resin is the hard part of the formula to find and that's the highest probability that we might find it.
because of the movie, we've had so many people join this forum. There should be a set location to just record info. A place not of discussion, but a place for formula recipes, lessons, and properties. Just a place to log research. Any ideas?
What if we created a website just for research? It could have different sections for the things you mentioned. Formula recipes, Shooter mechanics, Need to know (like things people should familiarize themselves with before jumping in), Tutorials, etc. How about that?
Hey guys. I"ve been following the thread for month now and i love the progress that's been taking place. But somebody please help me put the pieces together.., how does the styrofoam and adhesive (pressure sensitive) play into the formula?
