it's a chemical reaction between CO2 and magnesium. It's a single replacement reaction that leaves magnesium oxide and elemental carbon. The carbon is actually graphene.

Carbon is graphene? And ok... where can I get some of that nano-cellulose?

Graphene is carbon in a 2d lattice. It is 250x stronger than steel, it conducts electricity, it is adhesive, it is light, it is transluscent, it is elastic, and it is flame ******ant (by the way, you can buy graphene online, but I want the magnesium oxide). As for nano-cellulose, I don't know. There are two different kinds. One is burned by an acid, and the other is mediated through tempo. Tempo is the best, but I'm still working at finding it.

The newest form of it is still in research. The nano-cellulose created through an oxidizer was a new idea. Factories are now just starting the production of it, and just 6 months ago, they modified it to make it as strong as kevlar. I think we are going to have to wait, at least until I can find a scientist who would email me about it. I did actually find a scientist who got into an in depth discussion with graphene, and another scientist for spidroin.

Yup. You got it. I emailed Dr. Shmulik Ittah, the scientist who co-created spider silk in a lab. I actually got his email from someone else on this forum.

Oh yeah. We had loads of chats on the subject. He's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. I asked him about different properties, why that is, what plans he had, and gave him a few suggestions. I think it would be interesting to put some graphene links in the web.

I'm a bit wavery on my chemistry... I took it two years ago and now I'm taking another course. Hopefully this year my teacher won't blow me off if I ask him about adhesives, like the last one did.

I really don't need any help on the formula right now, I just have to add a few more components to the spirit gum...

Yeah how far are you on the formula ? Like how far have you came from the original one that only held 20 lbs.

I believe that after this one goes through the spinneret, it will be able to hold up to 150 pounds on a strand that is about 5mm diameter.

if used like this?

Increased RPMs doesn't necessarily mean a thinner net.
And how does the trigger activate this?

Eh, I'll take a look for that post. Also, you didn't answer the question... how does the trigger activate the motor and the canister to release the fluid?

Sounds good wadaltmon. So Let me try to explain that picture. By thinner, I mean like a rope vs a net. The outer strands fly out. Now let me explain this. Over time, if you fired strands out, going like the picture, then the ones that wrap around it would limit how far out they could fly. You wrap it quicker, and the strands were limited near the nozzle. You wrap it slower, and it will look like the farther strands.

The trigger is on one switch, and the motor is on another switch. Since there are two small switches it makes sense why spidey would put down both his middle and index fingers.

Not necessarily... if you read why Spidey uses those fingers is because there is an electrode in the middle of his palm. And there is only one switch: the electrode that gives off boolean input. He pushes it twice in rapid succession to activate the webs, so it doesn't go off if he makes a fist. It says this in the Spider-Man: Ultimate Guide (Updated Edition) by Tom DeFalco. I can upload the pictures if you all want.

I know. That was an old explanation for why we would have to do that Spidey did it because it takes ALOT of pressure to activate the switch. For us, it allows us to modify the size of the web.

Oh... oh, okay. I'm doing it the double tap way, and maybe I can get an old Lenovo computer from my friend and take out the fingerprint component. Then it can only operate off of my fingerprint.

So can you send me the list of ingredients on your spirit gum? I'll try to figure out the chemistry behind it.

Look it up on Wikipedia, it tells on there. I think it's Alcohol 35-A, resin, and Castor oil? Check there just to be sure.
