World Webbing formula

Unless I just spiral some tubing into part of the shape, then make a slight cone and weld it on, and continually do that...

As long as you make it air tight, that makes sense. Will you be adding any surfactant to your formula?

The spirit gum, which I just obtained, is a surfactant in itself after mixed with water.

I know that, but I'm referring to soap. magnesium oxide is a surfactant too, but I'm going to add soap.

it is an expansive compound, flame ******ant, translucent, and strong.

I'm working on a new web shooter that will guarentee have a great seal. Does anyone have a good formula that doesn't include acetone?

So guys, this is going to come across as very rude, but it only has the best of intentions behind it. Anyone who wants to invent a web shooter to go swinging around needs to get off this forum. It's not because it's crazy, but it's because adhesives don't take very well without a setting period. Also, I don't want anyone to test this out and find out it doesn't work.

In layman's terms, if you are doing this to zip around the city, leave. I don't want you to break your legs. With that said, I don't want to remove whatever need you have to be a swinger. So instead I have started a new forum for those of you who must swing in your lifetime.

Enjoy that, and please be super careful. Again, I don't want to be rude, but I'm being realistic (as realistic as you can be when you are making web shooters).

Nah, I'm a little nervous about using sulferic acid. Not only that, but I got some other stuff, I'm saving for. Shooter first, and formula second.

I agree there. I have the double tapping mechanism wiring diagram done, I am just in need of the parts.

It doesn't seem anyone has posted here in a while, and considering the circumstances (me already having bought the parts), does this mean i will have the first working prototype on this site?

Hmmmm.., I came to the assumption that no progress had been made. I need a drill bit and another part from ace hardware to complete my prototype. That's about it. Wait, did anyone hear about the silk worm's genetic modification?

Cool with the prototype.
And no, I hadn't heard. What have they done?

Silk worms can now produce spider silk. Like legitimate spider silk. At the same rate that silk is made commercially now.

Wow, fascinating! We should look into this, see if we can get some of these. Or modify them ourselves :)

Hey you guys, i've been reading all of your posts on and off for a couple of years now, and i think i know a really good idea for the webbing. It was mentioned on cracked.com and they said researchers are using a really cheap glue called nano-glue. do you think that could work?

Hey guys! I know, I haven't been on in FOREVER. But this time, I have no deadline, and my Hulk costume is done! So, I don't know what's been going on here, but I have a working prototype! A spray thing on my back that shoots white flubber! It gets clogged very often, though. Any ideas?

Anyway, what's cookin' with you dudes?

Hey guys, what's going on? So Mr. Arachnoman, that cracked article (was quite hilarious) took that claim from a scientist that was working on a special polyurethane glue. In short they modify the glue with microscopic layers of material and heat it to strengthen molecular bonds. I have emailed the professor who wrote that (as well as the professor who modified viruses to spit silk and the professor that made large sheets of graphene) and he hasn't responded.

The problem with using this glue is that there hasn't been a process invented yet that can make the glue cohesive. If there was a way to do that quickly, we might have a winner, as polyurethane expands adding more mass.

So I've been pretty laid back recently so most of my ideas have been far from the web shooters. After becoming facinated by assassin creed and batman arkham city I imagined what is would be like to combine the assassin stuff and batman stuff into the web shooters. Effectively, this makes the web shooter more of a liquid extruder but still...

1.) Batman's blasting gel. I'm not going to tell you the formula for this, because there are so many kids here, but one can make explosive gel by making gelignite (the kid brother of dynamite) and adding a surfactant. It goes off by impact, so airsoft gun it is.

2.) Pepper spray- I'm not much going to get into this one either, but you can find recipes online. Check the legality before you make it though. Some places don't like pepper spray.

3.)adhesive jelly- My own invention, this is what happens when you mix ***** ******with dissolved *********. It's legality is in question, so I threw out my only batch. It's used to more or less blind. It sticks and hardens. It destroys clothes. More effective than pepper spray, but dastardly. (never mix pepper spray with the adhesive jelly. There is a 90% chance that it will permanently blind a target.)

4.)fire starter- put lighter fluid in the cartridge.

5.) paint- This came from hearing about a brave, yet stupid, young man who would paint gang graffiti grey to claim it back for the town. Now he can do so quickly.

6.)Others: You can do very devious things with this device once you play assassin's creed enough. I'm not going to give you any more ideas, but the point of this was to show that even if we can't create the mega formula that is webbing, there are still fun crazy things we can use the shooter for. I'm not going to test any of these, but I'd love to see them on youtube some day.

So now for webbing. I'm going to stick with my most recent formulation, but add a few... adjustments.

The current formula is:

Nano-cellulose, cyanoacrylate, surfactant and fine silica powder (one can add graphene and magnesium oxide for added strength and fire ******ency)

Now here is the end result of this formula:

1.) When the ingredients are mixed, the cyanoacrylate will naturally bond to the ends of the cellulose. The silica will remain suspended in the mixture, and so will the surfactant.

2.)The mixture will leave the shooter. Depending on what you used to pressurize the cartridge, the formula will expand due to the air in the cartidge and the surfactant, trapping the air. This will be a foam. I used to think that this was implausible, but Aero-gel is 99% air and can hold more than 1000% its weight.

3.Upon impact, the cyanoacrylate will bond to the surface and the silica gel. The nanocellulose was already bonded to it.

4.) Nano-cellulose is shear thinning, so it will leave the shooter like ketchup leaves the bottle. It will naturally harden due to the lack of pressure and because the cyanoacrylate will bond the silica to it. Once that happens, the formula becomes shear thickening (because bonded silica tends to do that.) Any sudden strike will make it stronger and harder.

The graphene and magnesium oxide are optional, but it would be a really good add in. Graphene is stronger than Kevlar by far, and magnesium oxide makes for a good fire ******ant blend.

The one thing that this formula lacks though is biodegradability. The cellulose will be broken down by the environment. So will the surfactant, graphene, and magnesium oxide. The two things I'm concerned with are the glue and the silica.

I'm also a little concerned that the cyanoacrylate won't dry quickly enough. That might be fixed with a good web shooter design.
