we need that website fast.... Welcome back Specs. Man, the only thing this forum is missing is Thebatsam. Ok so specs, we all agree on this:

Because none of us have lab equipment advanced enough to create crosslinking polymer masterpieces, we are going to go with our original idea which consists with a strong polymer and an instant glue.

So there are only 4 plastics available that we can screw with. In order of availability: styrofoam, Cellulose acetate, PVOH, methyl cellulose. Ideally we'd have nano-cellulose, but cellulose acetate will definitely do. It has the tensile strength of nylon.

the solvent is acetone because it dissolves quickly.

The adhesive is the same kind in duck tape. That way it will stick to the wall, and the web, but only lightly to the hand, because of the low pressure applied.

We are also going to add a shear thickening powder to help the formula flow in gel form.

Finished! http://www.realwebtech.webs.com

You can go over it and see if there need to be any changes, or if there's anything I missed. Most of it is blank right now. So we need to decide which things go up on there.

VERY nice looking website. I like how it unintentionally ends with "webs.com". I just registered under the same name I am on these forums. I think everyone should. Maybe we could get our own set of forums for the website?

hi I'm new and i just wanted to ask, What use is a website (no pun intended) without content? it looks cool, but there is almost nothing on it

To the amazing spide: It's a database. All of us have to add stuff to it. If you'll look in the pictures and new ideas, you'll notice that we have a recipe for webbing formula, a list of shooter components and reasoning, and in pictures, you'll find a number of prototypes and schematics. It's going to take time to transfer over 100 pages of forum research into a web site. It will come in time.

Hey guys, I think I'm going to take a step back for a while. I'm going to start to do my work on the website now. I'll still check the forums, but most of my insights will be on realwebtech. I'm even thinking about starting a short video series where I explain the web shooters in depth. Such questions as the circuits and the spinnerets will be answered there. It's just a thought, no promises. Anyway, have a good one, and remember, Excelsior.

Hmm I see. And all these materials can bond together to form our webbing? Theoretically, the webbing properties won't loose anything? As far as it's extreme adhesive strength or tensile strength?

depends on composition, but theoretically Adhesion and strength will be great once the acetone evaporates.

Ok. So I just found a video camera. I think I'm going to do a couple video entries starting in a week that have to pertain to the web shooters. I might try to do a video a week give or take circumstances.

Does anyone want an in depth analysis of anything? I'm going to try to stop coming onto the forums as much. The only time I'll come on here is to check for questions. If you have a question, send it to my PM box, and I'll try to add it to the videos. I'll only answer the ones in the private messages.

in my defense, it was empty when i was on it

how about escorez 1310LC for the tackifier if i could find somewhere to buy it.....
it is probably too expensive, though.

EDIT: whoops I meant to put this in the web shooter shop class forum

nice job on the site iron_spider.

now for the formula you posted, how does it solidify and how fast?

Tech stuff came in the mail today. All i need now is the appropriate solenoid valves.

I'm just gonna throw this out there. What do you guys think of a UV curing adhesive as part of a web formula? According to my first link, it could cure in a second when under a UV light. we could incorporate a few small UV lightbulbs (see my second link) into the end of a webshooter, then experiment with different rates of UV radiation to cure the adhesive as it is going through the end of the webshooter.

What do you think?

1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adhesiv...part_adhesives

2) http://www.lightexports.com/servlet/...v-bulb,/Detail

I proposed that a while ago. But I found out that not only is the adhesive expensive, but the UV light sources required for quick curing are also expensive (and too big).

Hey I've been following the thread and wanted to say you guys have made amazing progress. Are you going to put the proportions on the site?

the thing about proportions is that its going to be different for everyone.

i may have figured something out that may be able to keep the shooter small and still be able to hold a good amount of web.
im hopefully going to get the equiptment i need this weekend to make a prototype.

Hey guys, I just found out that my best buddy has Leukemia, a rare type of blood cancer. He will commence with a surgery that has the ability to save him years of pain in the future, but his family is having trouble with medical bills. Is anyone willing to donate 16$ to him so that he can raise enough money for surgery? PM me if you want the donation link.
