The Dark Knight Well....this is intresting? (Joker news)

That's been going on since before BB came out. It's gone so far that I've seen manips of The Joker with blondish hair because it was deemed "more realistic for Nolan's world". If that were true Batman wouldn't have a black bat on his chest or funny ears or even exist. BB was fantastic things shown inside a realistic world to make them more realistic. OF ocurse they explained more and didn't give Scarecrow a costume until the very end. But people take the word "realism" too far to a pathetic point where it has no meaning.

Scarecrow's costume was not much....he was just wearing the mask and a straight jacket while he was riding that horse...kind of bothered me that they took the whole realism that far that the villains did not even have anything close to their costumes. :(

Big word.

But TheGrayGhost got a point there.

It's true, he does have a point. Personally I think ROTJ is a good example of a not too over-the-top Joker but still contains all the "Jokerness" that we all love. The only time I ever thought the Joker from MOTP and TAS ever got too campy was more around Harley, when he would act like he was a part of a 50's sitcom. ROTJ would be good, Leave It To Beaver Joker would not.

I thought it looked kind of cool:( Maybe if he had the hat it'd be more scarecrow like.

You mean that potato sack....

Lol, I thought the Scarecrow mask was very cool besides looking like a potato sack or wet paper bag with eye holes. The last scene with him wearing the scraight jacket and riding on the horse that seemed to have red eyes and breating fire was perfect. A hat isn't entirely needed but I'd like to see one if he's in the sequel.

I like his costume too. While I am more than willing to suspend disbelief for some things in these movies, but there has to be a line. Think about it, he carried his mask in his briefcase, simple and easy to hide. If he had gone to the prison to interview Falcone or even just walked around Arkham in a Scarecrow costume it would've been ridiculous.

Now if he comes back, and he has fully embraced his Scarecrow personality (which was hinted in Begins) then I think it would be fine to see him in a costume more like his comic book one.

Nah. It was okay since it was the future and all to give the Joker a different look (basically just purple pants and shirt) but for a movie with his first appearance in the BB sequel? that would suck if it is not the cool purple suit with the tie, flower, and cool shoes and all that jazz.

Yeah, not having the suit was different but acceptable, but I meant in his overall tone. He was evil, but still made jokes.

Yea but it is mainly because of the story it made sense....the whole thing with him taking over Tim's body. I mean if he was dressed up in his suit and stuff and then *poof* later Tim gets control back obviously he would know something was up.

Too bad BB2 Joker will probobly be wearing a black suit.

The Joker wearing a jumpsuit 20 years after his first apperance to face a new Batman is just fine. Him wearing a black jumpsuit in his first appearance is just stupid.

Ya that is sort of my point.

I'd much rather a purple suit.

But I could understand him wearing black suit for a few scenes as long as he's wearing an orange shirt and purple tie, it's fine.

I'd be perfectly fine with an Alex Ross style tuxedo. In fact, I'd love that look on screen.

I kind of like the idea of a black suit, as long as it is lavish and very nice looking. Alex Ross had him in a black tux I really like. While it would be cool to see him in purple once, I would take anything that is still incredibly stylish. For some reason I always found it hard to believe that the Joker would always wear purple. I mean someone that vain would have to change colors every once in a while otherwise people might stop noticing him.

Ya. Him wearing a black suit but same design and like the flower and tie and all is not as bad as him just having a way different design or much more plain suit. Also black suit, orange shirt, dark purple tie does not sound that bad. I just do not want them to change his suit too much. Luckily Joker is one of those villains that costume wise is already realistic since he wears a pimpin suit.

Ya, that I would not mind at all.

The main dissapointments I will have with the Joker when it comes to how he looks are the facial details.

Alex Ross Joker: Perfect in about every sense.

That one of his paintings? Never seen that one. Kind of looks so detailed like if it were a small figurine or one of those statues of artists' characters you can buy.

Did you paint your face white and dye your hair green? Cause that would've been awesome. Also, if you had a hot date and made her dress up like a jester...

The only thing I am not really digging there is the cane. i woudl prefer a slimmer black cane.

Sure this is something a lot of people have done or have talked about doing but speaking of formal dances have you and a buddy ever dressed up in an orange and blue tuxedos like Dumb and Dumber?

Back to something more related to topic though lol...the main thing I want them to do is get the Joker's facial details done well. Like I said before that would dissapoint me the most if they did not make his face look anything like the Joker's.

I'm glad some one else besides me is trying to clarify this confusion about "realism." I think we'd all be a lot better off if we replace our usage of the word "realistic" with a more suitable term such as "compelling."

And I need to know a lot more before I make a judgement on this. But, so far, I don't like the idea of The Joker having a small role at all.

In no particular order...

I've been saying this since 2001, WB is extremely interested in Jude Law being The Joker. People keep telling me I'm wrong, but I'm going to laugh my ass off when Jude Law gets cast as The Joker or ends up as one of the finalists.

It continues to amaze me how much some fans of the Batman mythos do not understand the Batman mythos. The 1989 Joker was incredibly in character and ripped almost right out of the comics, save for the fact that he killed the Waynes and wasn't physically perfect for the role. Now, I am not going to be real pleased if The Joker is another "Scarecrow" effort. But I doubt that will happen. I am also not going to be pleased if the plot of BATMAN 2 is one of those "Jeph Loeb style" gang war stories. I am also pretty sure that's not going to happen. I imagine Joker will feature in both Batman 2 and 3, and 3 will be the "Long Halloween" style story. However, this stuff about the Joker being mysterious and striking from the shadows some of you keep piping...go read a comic book and give me a break. The Joker sees and dresses himself as a killer clown. That's one reason he essentially named himself via the calling cards. I don't mind if only his presence is felt for a while, but then his PRESENCE needs to be felt. I don't mind if he's a bit more realistic (I.E, a man who actually wears makeup and dyes his hair as he was in my incomplete Batman 3 script), but he needs to be IN CHARACTER.

I'm not sure why MASK OF THE PHANTASM is even being brought up. That's one of the worst usages of The Joker I've ever seen. And he was hardly mysterious in that. He was quite flamboyant, actually.

And Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor does not have a small amount of screentime in SUPERMAN RETURNS. Am I the only one who noticed that they gave him a love interest, a character arc, a crapload of scenes and a massive plot that will take time to resolve? I'm told he has about as much screentime as Magneto had in X-MEN. He's a very large part of the movie.

In conclusion, Chris Nolan and David Goyer brought us an 80's Batman without the camp. Nolan is a huge fan of that era of the Batman comics. Ten bucks we're going to see an 80's style Joker without the camp.

Lol, I actually think that is a figure. Not sure but I just found it on google. Here's a real painted pic:

I also like his Joker facial features. Not to overdone but definitely represents Joker.
