What big twists could be in the next Superman movies?

Lex Luthor shaves his head because he's a big fan of Yul Brynner (not really a twist but..)

ok....how bout this.....

Krypton didn't really explode....and Lex is really a Kryptonian masquerading as a CIA agent....

oh wait..........

OH!! OH!! I got it!!

in the next film.....we discover that.....GASP.....Clark Kent is SUPERMAN!!! :wow:

This was part of Abraams first script. Only with Lex being a spy from Krypton which didnt explode.

Now, what if Clark's spaceship doesnt land on Earth but on Cybertron and he is found by this couple?

As an elseworlds story i'd actually be interested in that :)

Twist..
we discover Jor-El didn't actually build the escape rocket for his son.. But actually made it to save his own skin after discovering Lara had an affair with Zod and fearing (quite rightly as we discover in the sequel) that Kal-El is actually the son of Zod.

I think having Zod or Brainiac or whoever the main villain is be the reason that Kypton explodes is a good twist, plus it could give a reason for Superman to go buck wild.

Making an entertaining and enjoyable Superman Movie would be the only twist I need.

-Jor-el and Lara aren't Kal-el's real parents.
-Somehow Jor-el is responsible for the creation of Doomsday.

George Reeves WAS murdered................................... by a relative of Brian Singer!

50 ft spiders. And throw some polar bears in for good measure. The polar bears can talk btw.
No flying either. Give Superman a superhot car to fight crime in like Batman has.
Make the suit black, and see through. Nothing says super like being able to see his internal organs working.

I'd say that would be such a twist that half of our heads would spin off from seeing it.

every major event in superman's life was all part of some prophecy that he was unknowingly fulfilling.

I don't know how or if I can quote from one thread into another but...

DavidTyler mentioned this in the Opinion from a guy who doesn't like Superman thread, "Oh.. and Krypton was never destroyed... in fact it never existed. Krypton was actually Earth's future and Jor-el sent Kal-el into the past to be his own great grandfather."

When I read this i thought i would make a great twist. Below I reworded it adding some stuff.

In the future we are no longer called Humans but Kryptonians and now call Earth Krypton. I don't know why. So when Krypton explodes its also Earth as we knew it being destroyed. But before it does Jor-el sends Kal-el into the past. If Krypton is Earth it would account for how Jor-el knew about Earth. Also being found be Ma and Pa Kent would not be a coincidence, Jor-el is actually related to them in the future.

that would be a bit strange to play with that idea. It does remind me of one of those crazy theories about certain aliens who come to earth and all that from ufo/alien things on history-discovery channel.

brainiac destroyed krypton right as kal-el is being sent to earth. brainiac follows kal-el's ship, and makes earth his next target. brainiac arrives on earth at the end, which would be the cliffhanger setup for the sequel. kinda like galactus and tas brainiac, but not kryptonian or a cloud. not really a huge twist :|

Thats straight out of red Sun..a good read BTW.

When they do eventually reboot Superman and if they go with the origin story I would use a similar stor to the one thats in the STAS episodes: The Last Son of Krypton. Where Brainiac betrayed his father on Krypton, but have Superman find this out later in the film from the fortress.

i still would like to see them pick trait/ideals from each era that defined the character well and then build up an all original story around that. I just dont know to see next guys decide to base the character solely on one take/incarnation of the character.

Superman fights a super villain that has all the same powers as Superman. By the end it is revealed that the villain is a clone created by Lex Luther sending DNA from Superman's hair in to the sun along with some nuclear missles.......oh....wait......

I always loved the Brainiac betrayed Krypton story of the animated series. They could use this in a Superman film where Brainiac comes to earth and at first befriends Kal-El in a bid to get what he wants and in the film Superman could discover that he betrayed his father and Krypton.

Idk if youre kidding, but I love this idea. I think it'd be great to have him only find this out with Zod as the baddie in the second one, but have him not really be bad. Here's my idea:

The first movie could like one year into Superman's career, it wouldnt delve into the origin, and we could have Lex and Metallo as the villains. In the end we could be left on a cliffhanger of Zod returning to Earth.

In the second film, they could have Zod and Brainiac be the bad guys. Maybe like two thirds through it could be revealed that Jor-El made the rocket for himself and was going to send himself in it, and he used his leverage on the council to frame Zod for various crimes that were actually committed by Jor-El, before Zod is sent to the Phantom Zone, he tells Lara that Jor-El knows that Krypton will explode and he tells her to keep Kal-El safe, they kiss, and then he is sent to the Phantom Zone. Before Jor-El gets in the ship, Lara kills him and puts Kal-El in instead. In the third act, Zod and Clark fight together to save Earth from Brainiac. Towards the end of the fight though, Brainiac kills Zod, and in a rage, Clark destroys Brainiac. In the end Clark thinks everything is fine, and he ends up getting Lois. This film could be the end of the series or it could leave it open for another sequel.
