What the title says. I think it's pretty self-explanatory about the question this thread asks.

"Is there hope?"

Wow the drama is strong in this one.

Okay, I've seen B v S and I totally get why you're asking this question.

My answer is "don't despair" because ultimately critical reception has very little to do with a studio's decision to make more films. What's really important is the box office - which is why Michael Bay has made 4 Transformers films, which were wayyyyy worse than B v S, but made a ****load of money.

B v S may not reach the heights expected, but it will recoup its budget, and with DC committed to a bunch of super-films it will have to push on. Sooner or later somebody will come along who will do what Chris Nolan did in 2004, and figure out a way to make it work, and all will be well.

There is hope, it will require some re-thinking and change, but there certainly is hope, and plenty of it.

Also, nobody has come out of B v S saying that Affleck was a **** Batman, and no doubt a solo Batman film is coming and will improve the overall position of DC films.

Is there hope? Really? We don't even have a single day of box office totals and you're asking if there's hope? BvS is going to turn a profit, it's all but guaranteed. And the characters themselves were all praised, so there's no reason to worry about the future of anything at this point besides Zach Snyder's future involvement. Nothing else is going to change at this point.

I would say they need to push some lighter fare, though, to dispel any negative stigma. Flash, obviously, plus the rumored Lobo and Booster Gold movies would all be great ideas.

You are totally correct, but you have to wonder though - if DC can't get it's two main characters right (as in make a movie about them that has universal appeal, both critical and commercial) how are it's lesser heroes going to fare ?

True, Marvel made a bunch of no-names into household names with Guardians of the Galaxy - but that just shows that it's the quality of the movie that counts, the characters themselves aren't enough.

I think DC should "fix" it's big names before it starts gambling on the smaller ones....but who knows, I could be totally wrong !

Ben Affleck was the saving grace of this movie!

I tried to like BvS, maybe my expectations were too high, but if you ask me it was a bit mess of a piece of ****... But Affleck (and Cavill), looked like they were ripped strait out of a comic book. The bat suit looked great, and as much as I didn't like BvS I am really looking forward to seeing more of Affleck as Batman and really fleshing out the character and his history

WB/DC needs to fire Snyder and hire someone substantially better.

They should probably get a new writer and director on JL... Hate to say it. George Miller would be an easy transition and a great get!

Paul Dini, Bruce Timm and George Miller. Oh if only

Tell zack to f**k off and let him direct his 300 sequels which no one wants and get someone who can tell a good story like Paul greengrass or nolan himself because I've got a feeling justice league Will get delayed and swapped with something else so after Nolan has finished with his current project get him back

**** no we don't need Nolan back. Miller . With Michael Wilkinson

Let's watch Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman first, alright?

By then we'll have to watch more movies since they have to shoot some, at the very least JL, before WW comes out.
I don't think JLP1 will be out in 2017. They have to finish it in one year? If it was up to me, I would push JLP1 even further behind Aquaman.

Let's get that Bayformers money.
When it underperforms it's time to worry about JUSTice League because I've been hearing and reading nothing but praise regarding Wonder Woman in BvS.
Given DCEU's "film-maker" driven approach I'm also not worried about Suicide Squad...like at all.

I like the idea of hiring a Miller, but I'm going with Tim Miller. The guy made a superhero blockbuster using a B (C?, D?) List character and a very limited budget, owns his own special effects house and has a 400 a month comic book habit. And he's the guy behind the brilliant DC Universe Online short film.

If FOX hasn't locked up this guy yet to a lucrative multi-year deal, WB needs to jump in.

Yeah, no way Nolan comes back, that's the last thing we need. If BvS disapoints at the box office, then Snyder may be reconsidered for Justice League, but I find that extremely unlikely. They want to start shooting next month.

I just don't understand. Why are people acting like BvS was the worst movie of all time?

What the WB needs to do is stay the course. Of course there is hope. They have their entire universe setup.

Those that don't appreciate Snyder's style only have to endure one more film from him.

There are still 6 other confirmed DC movies without him.

Holy cow.

1. Fire Zack Snyder. Hire George Miller to make Justice League.

2. Make Justice League a single film.

3. Cancel Cyborg's film, it's just a waste of money.

4. Green light Justice League Dark and give Del Toro full creative control.

5. Establish a DCEU Creative board, with guys like Grant Morrison, Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Geoff Johns and Brian Azzarello. These men should manage the DC film universe. Cut the studio heads out of it completely.

This is WB. They moved back BvS by a year, they moved back MoS by 6 months.

Justice League is $1.01 odds to not start shooting within the next 6 months. Production will go into hiatus, until WB decides how they're going to proceed.

1. If Snyder goes and I hope he doesn't but if then I'll be happy to have George Miler in

2. It probably will be its own thing anyway, they don't have to do anymore set up now

3. While I'm not sold myself I don't get how you can come to that conclusion when we know nothing about it

4. Is that why he walked away?

5. I agree on this

The only other director they currently have in their DCEU stable that could take over should BvS not do well enough is James Wan.
George Miller, accounts within WB as a whole and should be considered if at their most desperate.

I like the idea of hiring a Miller, but I'm going with Tim Miller...And he's the guy behind the brilliant DC Universe Online short film Isn't that just one long action cut throwing around as many known heroes and villains as possible? There's story potential with certain characters, but he hasn't exactly done much with them in that one short.

If FOX hasn't locked up this guy yet to a lucrative multi-year deal, WB needs to jump in.
Pretty sure he has been. He's 1 of the 4 guys necessary to make Deadpool work.
Plus, the story he, Reynolds, Reese & Wernick told in Deadpool was a bare-bones origin story, not quite the epic WB/DC is aiming for.
