The Dark Knight What can kill TDK as a movie? Overestimating?

What can kill TDK??? Hmmmmmmm. I think that overzealous fanboys like cinenaman who predicts false BO numbers which rarely to never comes true(Example Superman Returns). That can kill TDK.

I like Nolan as a story teller but not as a action director. Batman Begins did have alot things that I wasn't too proud of but it's still a very bad ass film and remember it's a movie that's based on a comic book it's not a comic book movie. I think the biggest major dissapointment that the audience will have is if Wb starts marketing the Joker like if he's going to be in every scene of the movie or like if he's going to be the only villain in the film. The joker shouldn't be hype simply because I know for sure he's not going to have the same screen time as joker in B89. Which is understandable because after all it is a Batman movie. All we know about the TDK is that the action will start earlier in the film the joker will be more sinister and Batman will do detective work in the sequel so I'll reserve my judgement till I know more news about TDK. One thing that has me thinking is Batman Begins revised the Batman franchise because they couldn't of possibly made such a badder film than Batman and Robin. Oh and Nolan needs to learn how to incorporate excitement in his action films.

Like what, a bear cub in a tutu riding a tricycle?

No way, that'd be sooo out of character for the bear cub in a tutu. Nolan's gonna be respectful to the source material and let the bear drive the batmobile in the climactic scene, with heightened realism, of course. While that's happening batman will be having a visually indecipherable fight with The Joker and we'll all be sitting in the theatre remarking on how we now know what the villains point of view is, and how it isn't just a poorly executed gimmick. "dude, it's kinda like a horror movie" "yeah bro, totally a horror movie...."

uh oh, script leak! :wow:

This wouldn't hurt it's numbers but rather fans opinion after watching: a great trailer. Trailers definitely get me pumped, sometimes too much. Goblet of Fire was gonna be my die-happy movie after the trailer but it didn't live up. It was still an A, just not the A+++ I was anticipating.

Too many characters will affect the movie negatively, which was the main issue BATMAN BEGINS had to deal with.

Ahhh, The Guard. I've come to respect you so very much over the years, I'd forgotten about our fundamental disagreement. ;)

But I won't hold it against you. Were I to debate with you, the results would be... tiring, for us both.

And I don't know about you, but I have an appointment with a turkey tomorrow.

Nolan purposefully **** the bed with the action scenes and cutting the Phase 2 Scarecrow in #1 so that he could top it in #2.

I did that a few times, the doctors told my parents it was just a cry for attention, but that's a whole other story. anyway I would hate to think any director making any film would intentionally hold back or make poor decisions with the intention of making up for it in the sequel, i seriously doubt that's what nolan did

TDK cannot be overestimated because it'll be perfect.
And what is perfect it can only be admired, not improved.

Ok, seriously, there is NO such thing as perfection.
If things turn out to be how it looks like it will be, this movie will please a lot of fans, not everybody though.
And there are so many depictions of Batman to choose that they can even be faithful to the comics sources and yet not to please a lot of fans.
This I can predict with 100% of certainty.

Man....I'm enlightened.

You should go work for Jett. You two are like a modern-day Nostradamus. :o :oldrazz:

And I foresee that all of us (the ones that are up to that point alive) we will watch this film. :word:
I would still watch it even if it was another Joel Schumacher's movie. Only to bash later. :cmad:

I know tdk will be way better than BB, but i have a strange feeling that the 3rd film won't be as good. it will be like the x-men and blade movies, where the second one is the best, but the third won't be as good, it'll just be okaym on the same level as the first one or worst

ok, so "previous trilogies have had bad final parts, therefore so will Nolan's trilogy". y'know alot of people would say you're the greatest genius the world has ever known, and alot of people would be right. :cwink:

This is probably the worst thread on the internet.

People already see TDK as a masterpiece?

What people are those? ones from a mental asylum?

The film is not out yet.

I do have high hopes for the film but I think TDK will live up to expectations.
No point in worrying about how good it might or might not be.
The film will definitely be good and further develop the character of Batman that we saw in BB while also increasing the pacing and hopefully being even more creepy and sinister.

That’s what I want from it anyway, and all signs point towards these things happening.
Obviously Joker is the central enemy or most celebrated foe of all of Batman’s and I think if they do Joker in the style of his first appearances as talked about in the ‘Grim’ thread I don’t think they can go wrong.

Ledger is a good choice for me, he can act but I have never seen him do anything dark.
Nolan would not have picked him tho unless he has already pulled of the Joker in a screen test.
This image below shows that he will look the part also.

What? Too many characters WAS the main issue BATMAN BEGINS had to deal with. I didn't say the film didn't succeed regardless of it. But it came dangerously close to having several plot points/character developments feel forced and contrived. THE DARK KNIGHT must now flesh out the characters BATMAN BEGINS introduced, as well as introduce The Joker and Harvey Dent in fairly satisfying ways. It's my hope Nolan and crew stay with just Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gordon, Alfred, Harvey Dent, The Joker, and a perhaps a side love interest to focus on (who isn't Rachel), rather than focusing on pointless tertiary characters like William Earle who don't add much to the movie. I want Fox to be involved, but he need not be an enormous part of the film.

BATMAN BEGINS featured Bruce/Batman, Ra's Al Ghul, Alfred, Rachel, Lucius, Falcone, Crane, and William Earle.

That's eight characters. I'd prefer to see a few less in THE DARK KNIGHT, to allow the remaining characters to develop a bit more.

I stopped checking these boards out since the BB came out. With all the hype of
the fans claiming that it was goin to be the best superhero flick ever. Then slowley the images of the movie started to hit the net, charactors from the movie like Gary Oldman, Bale as Bruce, Rutger etc. People had the expectation of Ridley's Blade Runner and Fincher's SE7EN, IMO it was'nt even half of Equilibruim! However there is still 2 more films in the series that Nolan will have a go at, im willing to give it another go.. so will everyone on this board. WB know that the dollars, pounds and yens will generate. And Nolan will once again play it SAFE!! like he's always done. He truely has mastered the art of making GOOD movies, but never visionary or memorable ones. Give it a few years and bat-fans will cry from the rooftops about bringing Batman back to the Americans... Overall Britishness being the fallguy..

Hey, I think BATMAN BEGINS is a fantastic film. I don't think we need to have four major villains this time around, that's all I'm saying. And I'm not a fan of this new/recurrent trend of shoving a ton of contrived plot elements together in a film that is supposed to center around one person.

I liked the action in BB, I just don't want the same perspective again for action scenes in TDK. I really really want it to be more from Batman's perspective, not the crooks. And to get rid of the too-quick cuts.

Keep the quick cuts in the fight scenes I say, they worked really well.

^ sure man. Sometimes I just shake rapidly my head just to repeat the experience.
