What does everyone here think of....

Well, one company needs to make the next leap in gaming beyond graphics and processing power and since Nintendo has done it best in the past I have faith they'll lead the way again. Heck PS3 has already put elements of the Wiimote into their controller. Between price point, innovation and new games for their top 3 franchises out at or close to launch, Nintendo is going surprise some Playstation and Microsoft fanboys.

I'm a fanboy of games that grab my interest.

So far, 360 has 4 games that have my interest (Alan Wake, Bioshock, GTA4, and Hitman: Blood Money) with a possible 5th in Too Human.

So far, the PS3 has 2 games that have my interest (MGS4 and GTA4)

So far, the Wii has no games that have my interest.

I know where my money is going in a year after the price drop

THAT'S AN ODD LIST, CONSIDERING 2 OF THEM ARE A LONG WAYS OFF, AND THE OTHER 2 AREN'T EVEN EXCLUSIVES.

Which is why I'm waiting for the 2 that are a ways off to be released, which should be a year.

That probably will be around the time of the PS3 coming out, hence a price drop in the 360.

As for the other 2 not being exclusive, so what?

Right now, Hitman: Blood Money is out. I don't feel like spending $399 on a brand new console for only 1 game that is out, which I want to play on it

I need game from all the systems.

PS3 - FF13, DMC4, MGS4
360 - Mass Affect, Halo 3, GeOW
Wii - LOZ:TP, SSBB, SMG
PSP - MGS:PO, Loco Roco, R&C:SM
NDS - YI2, Pokemon, FF3
MP - COD3, GTAIV, SC4

Well, I don't have to worry about BC on the 360.

My friend finally got around to giving me his Xbox :D

I then went to Gamestop and picked up: Half-Life 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Doom3, Call of Cthulhu, and KOTOR.

Now I just have to find room for the damned thing...

Lets talk ports. How 'bout that? What does everyone think of developers making ports of PS3/XB360 games for the Wii? Do you think that they will be able to make ports for the Wii? Or will the control scheme create too conflict?

I used to think that Wii was just going to be a Gamecube with a silly remote but after E3, I'm really excited for it. I think what someone said above was best. I want to see something in video games thats the next step in evolution that ISN'T graphics. I think the Wii is going to provide that. Plus, you can't go wrong with their library of older games. They have a lot of games that I'm interested in like Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime. And also, a lot of stuff that I'd love to play in the future like a fighter pilot game similar to Crimson Skies or a Starfox game with the new controller. I think the new controller is a great step for gaming. What better way to immerse yourself into a game then your movements actually controlling the character. Plus, you can't beat the price. A next gen system for $150-$250 is great. So yeah, all of this makes me want a Wii. I think that it's really going to surprise a lot of people and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Yes, but what about ports? Does anyone here think that ports of XB360/PS3 games can be made for the Wii?

I'm looking forward to the Wii. I hated the remote when I first saw it and I hated the name the first time. Now I cant wait to use the remote and the name has grown on me (it's easier than typing Revolution or Rev). I want to play the games and use it before I say how it will be. I'm really looking forward to SSBB.

I think it's like a family dinner that you can always eat.

Hideo Kojima aside, I think it's a bad attempt for Nintendo to try to diversify themselves from an industry they can no longer compete in.

I thought it was bad for Microsoft to go into a business they knew little about and look what happened there.

WhatHisFace, give me some reasons why you think that Nintendo can no longer compete in the industry.

There will be multi-console games, but the Wii has to get special treatment since it's less powerful graphically and the controls are much different. Nothing will be a port unless they make you use the Gamecube controller (which I wouldn't mind. I spent $20 on them so I might as well make use of them). I don't see that happening much.

The Nintendo Wii itself
-Rediculously low hardware specs.
-This screams were not going to put much effort into the visuals
-Biggest thrust is nostalgia gamming via micro-tranactions and downloading (which may not carry it far)

The Wiimote
-Has a sever reduction in control interface
-1 analouge stick and 4 buttons
-Is desgined to attract people who might not like a 2 handed game pad but recorgnize and like a remote controls form.
-Is a giant gimick that may bite the Wii in the a$$ later on

Actions by Nintendo
-Abuse of 3rd party publishers in the 8-bit and 16-bit eras
-Abuse of North american and european retialers in the same eras
-This led to 3rd parties abandoning Nintendo during the N64 era
-It also mean't that the Gamecude couldn't lure them back
-The Wii hasn't really lured many back either
-Nintendo has a habit of throwing out hardware that the market may or may not be ready for (or even want)
