It's pretty certain that Singer wanted Law as Zod, but since Law said he was unavailable Singer wrote him out entirly.

But what if Law had said yes, what would the plot have been, would Superman have returned to find Zod rulling the world?

That would have been sooo sweet! I really don't get these people dissing Zod. I don't care if he has been done before if the story and action are top notch. Can you imagine what a Superman vs Zod fight would be like now with todays tech! Kick @ss cool!!

let me say just this: one year ago or maybe even more after we found out that there will be an earthquake a lot of people were angry. like me because there was not supervillian. but i always until the movie told me that this qquake will be good with todays technology
and what did we get my dear friend what did we get? what did we get in the movie? i would be afraid. singer obviously needs help. there was nooooooo need for so bad action at teh end of the movie. we should have saw extreme action scenes with superman saving metropolis. so what am i trying to say? even if zod is in there that doesnt mean that the action will be good.

if zod is in the movie than this means that singer has not new ideas. which is insane if you look of how many comics there are. there are a lot of villians. brainiac is still a good choice since he can be smart and we can have a lot of action.

I'm pretty sure Singer and his crew wrote the story and script and THEN pursued actors, not the other way around.

 I don't know what you're talking about? I LIKED Superman Returns! I am not a member of the bash Singer flock! As for having Zod return well what is the difference in seeing Zod again, and seeing the Joker again in the Dark Knight(great title by the way). Zod has not been seen on screen in almost 30 years. I mean Zod is a great character that can be further fleshed out in a rematch with Superman! I don't care if it has been done before!

The difference is Nolans Batman world and movies are COMPLETELY different then the other Batman movies.

Singers Superman is just like Donners. There is MANY great villians he could use and if he uses Zod, it is pointless and stupid.

I actually thought Superman Returns wasn't super great. After seeing the new movie, I know Singer was the wrong choice.

Having Zod back would just be boring!

Why would it be pointless and stupid to use Zod? Unoriginal (but not necessarily uninspired) to be sure, but how is it stupid to use a Kryptonian villain that Superman is connected to, even through Jor-El?

He'd have to kneel before me first.:o

I just don't get why people want to see Zod again. He wasn't that good in the first place IMO. Brainiac or Darkseid, or even Metallo would be much better, preferably Braniac.
