You have to remember the "Just say the word" part. He didn't just say the character was able to beat Superman, but also that his powers were related to saying something. This heavily implies Shazam, and I doubt it will be anybody else.

Personally, I think it's really cool. Dwayne has the necessary charisma and presence for it, and his comment about both him and DC recognizing his abilities in a role, makes me believe they know what they're doing with this movie.

I don't see why it couldn't be. A Shazam movie doesn't have to feel like a kids movie just because Shazam's alter ego is a kid. Since the Rock is in it, he'd going to have the most screentime, so I would expect it to not feel that much like a kids movie.

Yeah the personality tidbit is what confirms Shazam for me over Black Adam.

After thinking about it...I see Johnson as a better Shazam than Adam. The Rock is more a happier, adventurous personality, and he fits a hero more than he does a villain (at least a serious-type villain like Adam). The only thing going for him as Black Adam is the ethnic features, and if that's all that he has for the role I don't feel like that's enough.

I don't see him playing Black Adam. The character is just far too brutal for someone as likeable as the Rock, while Shazam in the other hand is a perfect fit. His comment about "bringing good baggage" further supports that claim.

Yeah, he's playing Shazam. So that begs the question... who WILL play Black Adam? They need to get someone who looks like he could go toe-to-toe with the Rock. I liked the suggestion of Momoa. He'd be a better fit for that than Aquaman, IMO.

Yeah I like the idea of Momoa as AM, but I can see him channeling Khal Drogo in Black Adam, which would be amazing.

Maybe Maze or Roach can dig up some older interviews and comments for proof, but I seem to remember Rock saying he'll be playing a hero (as in the lead) so that makes me believe he's Shazam. He would be great for Black Adam or Shazam either though.
