Episode VII left us with some big loose ends we've been debating for a while now. Which ones do you think need tied up, clarified or answered in this film?

Early in the film:
Rey's parents and some backstory
Why Luke went into hiding?
Where the 1st Order & Knights of Ren came from

over the course of the film:
Why the search for the Jedi temple?

by the end of the film
Who is Snoke
How did he rise to power
What does he ultimately want from Kylo Ren

Mostly I'm curious about the Jedi Temple and why it was important for Luke to find it. I'd like to see more of Snoke and learn about his character.

I think that the First Order kind of is what it is, which I'm fine with.

Snoke is a big question mark for me. I'm actually hoping that he isn't a sith and is actually a new kind of dark side force user.

I think that we all want to know about Rey's parents.

I also want to learn more about Luke opening up a jedi academy. Who were the students?

I'd like to know the state of the New Republic, after they were in the first film for 10 seconds. Surely an act of such terrorism would cause all the World Leaders who make up the Republic gear up against the First Order.

Why did Luke run away?
Info about his Jedi Academy with flashbacks.
Who was he married to?
Is Rey his daughter.

Kylo's training and I want to know who the Knights of Ren are and I want to see them in action here!
More clues (not necessarily a full on reveal) of who Snoke is.
I'm also excited to see what Rian does with the whole Kylo/Hux/Phasma dynamic. I'm so happy JJ kept all 3 of those characters alive!

What is the exact standing of the New Republic, the Resistence and the First Order in the galaxy. Are the First Order an evil rebellion? Or do they actually politically control certain sectors the Rebellion was never able to liberate? Are the Resistence just Private Military Contractors fighting the First Order unnoficially? A clearer picture of who Snoke is and what exactly motivates him too as right now he's just a generic (and quite frankly lazy) Emperor knock off. All this should've been explained clearly in TFA.

VIII's job should be to expand more on the history and mythology of the Jedi, expore uncharted space and ancient temples.

What I'd like to see happen is the Resistance culling together what remains of the New Republic and maybe some other organizations to form a larger power faction to outnumber the First Order. It would simplify things and fully reverse the scales from what the power dynamic was in the OT; the Resistance/Republic being the big guys trying to crush the smaller First Order.

-Rey's parentage/backstory.
-Why Luke left and what he's been doing.
-Why is he so interested in the first Jedi Temple.
-Who are the Knights of Ren, what they're doing.
-More about Luke's academy.
-Did he have a wife/lover.
-More revealed about Snoke. Not everything, but more.
-Kylo Ren's further descent into evil.

I need more on Anakin's prophecy.

If Luke and Snoke become force ghosts, we are left with just Ben and Rey? One dark, one light!

I need more on Anakin's prophecy

I think that's exactly what we're gonna get. Screencap this comment, because I'm making a prediction right here and now :

JJ Abrams said in the beginning process of making TFA, him and Kasdan made some changes that would connect with Rian Johnson's story for Episode 8. I bet you any money Han Solo saying "People believed he (Luke) went to find the first Jedi Temple" is one of those changes. Luke went to look for the very first Jedi Temple because he doesn't believe that Anakin's prophecy was correct. That Anakin was the one to bring balance to the Force. And how could it be, to be fair, when there is still a great murderous evil in the galaxy?

Luke is looking to see where this prophecy first came about. What and who exactly led everyone to believe that such a prophecy was even true or real. And through that search, he or Rey will connect and speak to the Force ghost of Anakin.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the title for Episode 8 has the word "Prophecy" in it. "The Prophecy Strikes Back!" LOL (just kidding with that one haha).

Thoughts?

I hope some of the Knights of Ren are women.

How Luke's saber got from Cloud City to Maz Katana.

"Prophecy of the Jedi" :sly:

Whether or not [BLACKOUT]Finn's back is OK, can he walk after that?[/BLACKOUT]

(are episode 7 spoilers allowed here?)

Yep. Ppl shouldn't even be in here unless they've seen the movie.

I think it's a given that they need to explain Rey's backstory. Who is she, who are her parents, where does her training come from, etc.

I'd like more on the Luke/Kylo Ren relationship too.

This is a very interesting theory! I could definetely see something like this happening. Anakin was supposed to be in TFA, right? Maybe something along those lines got pushed back to Episode 8?

If they're going that route, I would love the title "The Ancient Prophecy". We could get some history about the Jedi/Sith in the next movie. I also hope this leads to them making a movie set thousands of years in the past.

Snoke and how the legacy saber got to Maz.

Rey's parents
How Luke's lightsaber made its way from the depths of Bespin to Maz
Why Ben/Kylo Ren turned to the dark side

Rey's parents (please don't be a Skywalker and/or Solo)
Snoke
How Maz got Luke's lightsaber
More info on why he went into hiding.
How Captain Phasma (apparently) gets out of that trash compactor. :funny:

That's actually pretty good! The reason I like it is because I want Episodes I through IX to ultimately tell one story. Your speculation ties it up with Anakin's Chosen One prophecy from Episode I. I'm hoping Rey is a Skywalker, so the story stems from Anakin. Three trilogies of three generations.

Rey's identity.
Who left Rey on Jakku.
Snoke's identity.

Maz getting the saber

Luke's academy and if the knights of ren are other Jedi students Ben convinced to join the dark side with him as to not be slaughtered

Rey parentage.

Where was Snoke during the original trilogy and how did he turn Ben. And did Luke give him that scar on his head?
