Do you guys think the darker tone of The Dark Knight helped elect Barack Obama? When I watched the movie back in July, I thought the theme about people deserving better than the truth was very true to life, in a current political world like ours. Did I notice more than an underhanded slight at Bush's war in the film? In today's society, what role does entertainment media play in electing a president, I actually wonder. I think TDK might have had some influence on forming people's opinions this time, I know it did mine.

Aside from somewhat unsettling observations between Dent's White Knight and Obama ("We bet it all on him"), I don't really see how it could have affected people....

And what a weird thread! :funny:

TDK is many things, but a reason Obama won?

Come to think of it, this thread makes me wonder:

What role did TDK play in the genesis of Democracy?

Oh. Dear. Lord.

Those Roman senators totally had Batman within their hearts! :hehe:

I somehow thought I'd be safe from this if I stayed away from the Bat forums.

About as much a role as "Batman Returns" had on Clinton's win.

TDK was a genius film no matter how you paint it. It was way more than your typicall run-n-gun "comic book movie". Take it for what it is, an engaging drama, art. Its not that hard to believe the highest grossing film of the decade would inspire into the mind's of its audience some political influence, really.

...*blank stare*...

...*tilts head slightly to the right*...

...*squints and sneers*...

...What?

They're hardly the same film.

My point is that this film didn't have a shred of impact on Obama's win last night, and anyone who thinks it did really has no grasp at all on the political situation in this country.

What role did the TDK have in the development and proliferation in Nuclear weapons?
I think that is a bigger question
