Homecoming What should they do with the Spidey franchise? - Part 2

Oh, so there's still a chance that the MCU might not be involved at all?

Sadly. Marvel denied them on their offer, but supposedly talks are still happening. Its very likley Spidey is coming home though. Especially after this ordeal. Sony is under a lot of scrunity and things are only going to get worse for them.

I think this was an email before they turned down the offer due to Marvel wanting creative control.

Well, Marvel obviously needs creative control since he will be incorporated into MCU. Did Sony assume that they will have the freedom to screw up MCU like they did for TASM2?

Wouldn't surprise me. Sony seems to be pretty damn stupid.

Had they sold to a studio that would be starting their universe from scratch around Spidey, then sure. I'd understand why they'd want creative control. However, it's Marvel's universe. Just because it's Sony's character doesn't mean they can come in and start calling the shots. If this thing goes through, expect Marvel to be making ALL the decisions.

I wonder how much Marvel will pay Sony. They will be practically renting him, since Sony doesn't have any other big franchise on this level. They still want to develop more films in the future.

"Since we don't have that many characters to use for our Spider-Man universe, Stan Lee can create some more just for us"

Stupid is putting it nicley

Expect announcements soon ladies and gentlemen... Very soon. Marvel or Sony is going to be flooded with questions. It's only a matter of time before they reveal their actual plans to everyone.

A year ago I would of been fine with Marvel renting Spider-man, but not anymore. I'm amazed at the movies we have got with these idiots in charge.

Just... be prepared if they're announcements you weren't hoping for.

Don't get too excited just yet.

I'm fully prepared for Sony to come out and say they're rebooting with the S6... Marvel goes on without Spidey until Sony Pictures eventually go bankrupt. Just a shame he might miss out on the CW storyline... :(

I think regardless if Marvel gains control Spider-Man isn't going to be appearing in Civil War.

Sony is in a pool of hungry sharks right now, and marvel is holding out their hand. The matter has to be addressed soon.

I think he'd absolutely be in CW. Possibly a cameo, but if they get the rights in the near future (shared rights, whatever they get) they're going to put their full effort into making sure he's in the movie.

Oh God. I could so see Sony doing something that atrocious. I really hope the higher ups from Japan do something. I hope they override Pascal and partner or sell the rights to Marvel.

At the very least a post credits scene. If they get him in next year, I can't imagine how they wouldn't try to get him in IW. That's how you dethrone Avatar.

It might get worse. New articles just published have said Sony knew of security vulnerabilities prior to the hack and they might not be able to pay some staff on film productions currently going on. Sony might well be sued out of existence if this is true.

So you're telling me, that Sony might go bankrupt? That almost defiantly means they would have to sell the rights back to Marvel.

This is why if the series is truly being rebooted I have confidence in the Disney deal. Even sony must know they can't launch a sinister six film without a spidey film first to set it up. There's absolutely no foundation for it. It literally makes no sense whatsoever. (Sadly, we've seen even dumber ideas in the leaks, most notably the trash can venom suit)

So you're telling me, that Sony might go bankrupt? That almost defiantly means they would have to sell the rights back to Marvel.

It also means a lot of innocent people losing their jobs. :csad:

If it turns out they were negligible in their cyber security you might be looking at the mother of all lawsuits.

Very much so. :(

With Spidey in the picture, anything is possible.

If Spider-Man is to make any appearance in the MCU, Marvel has to have creative control in all of his appearances. Sony must be insane to think otherwise.

Let Marvel do all the work, and Sony can get paid for doing nothing. Its a win-win situation.

All of these e-mails are from before the hack crippled Sony and all of this info released to the public, so I'd assume Marvel has the advantage in negotiations now. Even if Pascal and co. reject Marvel, their bosses might take action themselves.

Thats a good point. I wasn't even thinking about that. Geez, Sony is in a mess. They seem to bring everything come in contact with down with them as well.

Any chance if Marvel gets the rights back they go with Miles instead of Peter? or Peter then Miles?
