Garfield is out so the one thing that was almost universally praised by the general audience and critics alike is no longer involved.

I don't know how 'universally" Garfield was praised. I for one never cared for his Peter. I found him obnoxious & unlikable. And I know a lot of poseters on these boards felt the same way.

I said 'almost'. Go head and randomly read a ASM2 review, even one that bashes the movie. Chances are they praise Stone and Garfield despite the bashing.

This one does.

His Spider-man had the quipping down I guess but still not very likable. While Maguire wasn't quite the quipster, he had more charm IMO.

I think the general public, women especially, liked him in the role a good deal, definitely more so than Tobey. Just basing that off what I hear from my friends and other people around me.

Speaking as someone who always preferred Raimi's movies and Tobey. I did get the feeling following these boards and seeing reviews for the films that Garfield seemed to get more love than he did hate.

No more stuttering, no more 1610 influences. Something among the lines of 616/Maguire's Peter.

Actual costumes, please. In a world where Sony gave us the best live action Spidey suit, and where Marvel Studios gave us the perfect Captain America and Vision costumes, ''it wouldn't translate good on screen'' is the worst excuse ever imaginable. Better say you were too incompetent at doing your job.

If they simply can't get it right, just give up and hand it over to Marvel Studios. Let them do a Netflix show called Spider-Man: Learning to Crawl, introducing many of his supporting characters and pre-costumed villains. Have Peter fight someone like the Kingpin or Hammerhead.

Last episode would feature a small teaser promoting a movie where he finally fights someone with powers and learns that, while he defeated his first proper villain, he still has a lot to learn.

The artist is Stjepan Sejic who has done loads of stuff for Image comics such as the Witchblade stuff as well as Covers for Marvel among others. The guy is really good and crazy fast, sometimes he will knock out something like that just to warm up in the morning before his paid work.

While it sounds like a good idea, I think the audiences would get tired of not seeing super powered villains, teasing them and then not have anything happening to them would be a bit of an anti-climax.
Gangster-fighting Spidey works for a couple of episodes or an arc, but everyone would be dying to see the classic baddies.

What the heck does Spidey have to do with the X-Men? And how would he possibly fit in with that universe which has a completely different tone? That would be even worse than where he's at now. And you want Sony to deal with Fox now?

Finish the trilogy first. After that, I don't care what they do with the character. If Sony doesn't want to give him back to Marvel and reboot again, then it's whatever, for me at least. I just don't want the ending of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to mean nothing. Contrary to popular belief, the general audience is expecting a third ASM. (i.e. not the fans, most of whom just plain don't want a third film.) I'm not basing this off of the gross of the movie, I'm basing it off of people I know who saw the movie, liked it, and don't know or care about any of this hacking drama and the secrets trickling out because of it. Also, and speaking of which, I don't feel Sony is being fair when it comes to the gross of TASM 2 and comparing it to the highest grossing one in the series, Spider-Man 3. The only two other big summer blockbusters I remember coming out in 2007 were Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Transformers. Obviously, Fantastic Four wasn't much of a match for Spider-Man 3, and Transformers came out a full two months after Spider-Man 3. So it had plenty of time to make that 890 million dollars. Godzilla came out only two WEEKS after TASM 2. So it really didn't have a fair chance compared to Spider-Man 3. Even the first ASM had more time to make it's money before The Dark Knight Rises came out. Basically, and what I'm saying here, is that Sony just needs to not only grow a pair take a chance with this third one, but stop trying to do what other companies are doing. That worked pretty well for WB when they were just doing Batman movies that made a billion dollars each and didn't care what Marvel was doing.

With respect I disagree. I don't think there's much interest from the GA. The ASM1 was decently received yet ASM2 fell off considerably...at least domestically.

There's no way an ASM3 is going to suddenly be successful coming off a crap film. Factor in these hacks and insider info going public on this franchise, it's an uphill battle for Sony to draw interest in a continuation of this series.
