I think he'd work in that role
But no, I want a Norman story with no Harry, it can happen and be interesting
I noticed after Spider-Man 3, Sony was hesitant to put too many characters in The Amazing Spider-Man. Don't want the movie to be crammed with so many characters. So its possible we won't get Harry Osborn. Obviously, they won't go the whole "Harry Osborn avenging his father" storyline, because that was basically the story arc that held the Raimi trilogy together.

Maybe at most Harry will get a small role, just as Jameson's son had in Spider-Man 2. He could be the guy going after MJ... oh wait, that would be the Raimi trilogy again.

I really love your view on Scorpion TyphoidDan, but I gotta say that I still think Scorpion would be a little too similar to Lizard in appearance.

I highly doubt Scorpion will make it to one of the movies though.

What if Sony goes with an unexpected villain, like having Venom in ASM2 already. Or going with Scorpion even though our doubts, or Shocker? :P Imagine our reactions.

Well its possible that Venom could be in a sequel since they are still considering doing a spin-off (which I hope never happens since chances are it will fail). However, if they are going to make the Green Goblin the main villain of this series, they should save Venom for another film outside of this trilogy. Keep this one story arc from getting too crammed up (like Spider-Man 3 or X-Men: The Last Stand), and then start the symbiote story afterwards. They can still introduce the symbiote (if that was one of the possible cures for cancer), but save the black suit or Venom for another time.

Marc Webb said he wants to explore Oscorp further in the franchise and the idea that all unlikely things come from Oscorp. With that being said, the villain of the second movie will most likely be created by Oscorp.

They should save the Green Goblin and death of Gwen for TASM 3. Introduce Norman in the second movie and continue to develop him as a corrupt businessman. The great thing about the Green Goblin is that he is two villains put into one. There is the Green Goblin, who battles Spider-Man head on, and then there is Norman Osborn, who is the corrupt businessman plays a role similar to Lex Luthor. There are stories in the comics where the Green Goblin is the villain and there are stories where just Norman is the villain and the movie should show that by having him be responsible for the villain in the second movie.

The first movie already established that Osborn is a corrupt man who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty to get what he wants. The second movie should develop that even further by introducing Norman Osborn and having him play a bigger role. And then he becomes the Goblin in the third film and kills Gwen.

And for those saying they shouldn't kill Gwen in the third movie because it would be a bad way to end the trilogy, who says it has to end at a trilogy? Yes, Sony did say they planned a trilogy but that is always how Hollywood works, especially with superhero movies. First, they plan the first movie out. If the first movie is successful, they plan 2 more films and you get a trilogy. And if all 3 films are successful, they plan another set of 3 films. The old Spider-Man movies followed this same trend too, except that Spider-Man 4 to 6 fell through due to Raimi and Sony not being able to come to an agreement. If all three movies do well at the box office and are well received critically, you can bet they'll continue the franchise. And even if they do reboot after the third movie, we'll probably get a loose continuity.

The Oscorp tower almost made it in Avengers but the idea was dropped because the design for the Oscorp tower wasn't finished by the time Avengers started filming the third act. Which shows Sony and Marvel/Disney are willing to work together and makes it possible for this Spidey to be integrated in the MCU. It's unlikely the franchise will be rebooted again after TASM 3.

As you said Shikamaru, Marvel and Sony are willing to work together by not only showing the Oscorp tower in The Avengers but there is also the possibility for Spidey to appear in The Avengers 2. And now let's go back to the topic.

I was one of those people who actually thought of putting the Goblin on TASM2 but to show Osborn's background in just a 2 hour movie is kinda tricky, it was done before, but been the Green Goblin HE actually needs a lot more time to be developed both as Norman Osborn and Green Goblin. A cliffhanger at the end of TASM2 would be amazing. But if The Goblin appears in the THIRD part then who will be the villain for the second part? Vulture would be a really good choice, the guy been a scientist in Oscorp then he steals the vulture suit... :D Just a thought

I never expected Bane to be in The Dark Knight Rises, so my reaction would be about the same :woot:

With the pseudo science thing they're kinda going for, I'd like to see Smythe and Gargan. Since he hasn't been introduced and he has ties to them, you can have J.J. have them try to take out Spider-man, but eventually it gets out of hand. The spider-slayers would be cool to see, and Gargan becoming Scorpion could be used as Smythe creating 'the ultimate spider-slayer' or a protoype.
Maybe that's just me.

Given their aim with the choreography of action scenes in ASM, I think it'd be awesome to see Electro on the big screen (that and he's one of my faves). I'm also one who doesn't wanna see Goblin until atleast the third film, but I won't argue if the execs decide otherwise, and if they do it in taste.

I dont think they want another big green guy though. They would be worried people would just see it as more of the same

Scorpion seems like one of those villains you can get away with tweaking the color of his costume a bit.

News that Electro is the rumored villain as character profiles from casting agencies have been released.

Please let this be true!.

I'm hoping for this too, i'ld like to see the guy from Chronicle for it and go with more the bullied teen gone bad route with him (like the Mtv Spidey cartoon in parts)

true, but it is iconic

I really hope Electro is the villain!

Though, big no thanks for MTV Electro. I think he should be older than Peter though still pretty young for being a super villain (around 28 or something).

If they do Electro it'd be interesting to incorporate the "Light the Night" arc in some way; it's probably the reason why Electro is one of my favorites.

I would love if Electro is the main villain in the sequel. I wanted him to be the main villain in the sequel from the beginning. Hell, he was my first pick for the main villain of the first movie too (before the Lizard was announced).

Reasons why I think Electro will be the best choice for the sequel:
1) Sony probably will avoid using a villain already done in the Raimi films to avoid looking repetitive. The first film already got a lot of crap for just redoing the origin.
2) Marc Webb said he wants to continue the theme of Oscorp in the movies. Basically, most, if not then all, of Spidey's villains will come from or be related to Oscorp. You can have Electro be created by Oscorp either directly or indirectly.
3) This is more of a personal preference but the villain should be someone capable of doing enough damage to give the movie some intense fight scenes on the same level as fight scenes from Transformers and Avengers (or at least close to that) and to be able to severely injure Spidey. Basically tons of cars being smashed, tons of things being destroyed, and Spidey having to avoid electricity from all directions will be perfect.

Electro is the perfect villain I can think of off the top of my head that can fill in all 3 categories. Another one is Scorpion but Sony might try to avoid villains associated with the color green since they just had the Lizard. Yes, Electro wears green too in the comics but he is more likely to get a redesign than Scorpion is since the color associated more with Electro is yellow as opposed to green. Plus, Electro can cause more damage on average than Scorpion.

Just as long as we haven't seen them before. Mysterio. Kraven. Electro. Beetle. Rhino (but not by himself). Heck, even include The Looter as an "intro sequence" villain.

Which is something I wish Webb would do....an intro-villain.

Not going to happen. Once you put a known villain into the film, people are going to want to know how became that villain and how'd he get his super-powers (or super enhanced powers).

-Electro will have the ability to teleport.
-When Electro is around, the sky is cloudy and stormy. Then we he teleports away, the sky clears up.
-Electro will have a whip made out of electricity.

I'd like to see ELECTRO handled like he was in New Avengers #1.

Cool things you can do with Electro's powers

1. You can make him travel by moving along electrical cabel i.e. from one power socket to another. The next best thing to teleporting.

2. Electrical blast (pretty much a given)

3. Controlling electrical objects. i.e. he could cause traffic by turning all the lights red. Steal money from ATM machines. Cause a blackout to the entire city.

4. Control the electrical signals in the brain.

5. Stop someone heart and the start it again (this happens in James Cameron's script).

Cool things I want to see;

A) Round 1:
Electro takes Spidey to the cleaners, messes with the brain waves in his head to disorentate him and then stops his heart only to start it again.

B) Spidey works on a electrical proof costume as Electro is so powerful he can melt through rubber (to get around Spidey simply wearing rubber gloves and soles)

C) Electro drains the power of the city so he is super powers and the final fight is in complete darkness apart from Electro lighting the scene.
