Second watch. Little Dakota Fanning totally hammered me in War Of The Worlds and I Am Sam (still a huge sentimental favourite, even though one has to buy the whole.. premise lol). Such a great and super adorable kid actress, and I always hoped she'd get some great roles as an adult. Now it seems like her sister might had a more successful career.

Anyhows, this is a heart warming film in which she plays an autistic young woman who participates in a Star Trek script contest. Of course she has to escape and go out of her natural borders to deliver those bloody papers personally at Paramount before it's too late, and the drama starts. It's nothing extraordinary, but at least as a Star Trek fan I enjoy this little film. Fanning is great, and as expected is Toni Colette.

Patton Oswalt has a small role as well as a cop, and my favourite scene in the film is:
When Oswalt and his collegue recognise her from the missing people descriptions, and he realises she's a Star Trek fan. Of course he is as well and starts talking Klingon with her just to calm her down. Oswalt is actually really great with how he sences the situation with this runaway autistic girl, and then goes all Klingon language (which also brings lightness to the scene). And naturally, Oswalt in any kind of nerdy situation: Always a win.

Quality thriller with powerhouse performances from Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger, the dynamic between Virgil and Gillespie is unflinchingly and uncomfortably authentic.

8.5/10

A masterpiece of a super low budget creature feature, the use of location, cinematography and sound creates a relentlessly foreboding atmosphere while the minimalist shot selection used for the beast is perfectly balanced to capture the horror without overexposing the budget limitations.

8.5/10

Fantastic film. For me it's career bests from both Poitier and Steiger. Poitier was already an Oscar winner and Steiger won for this film.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

In great Indiana Jones tradition, this movie will leave you wondering how that fedora was glued onto his head.
