The Dark Knight What We Know So Far

Bummer. I'm not too worried. Unless I just pm'd a link to a ninja. All it is, is the trailer in a different order with pics that are already on SHH.

So are you gonna post it? I would like to see it :yay:

well i noticed that Maggie G said in an interview about when she emailed Katie Holmes saying it was fun to say you've been able to play batman's girlfriend so i think its highly likely she dies in this film

I dont know about that, but in an interview at Showest she said she would love to do a third film.

Cool video, it really gives you an idea of how intense TDK is going to be. But I think the truck scene might come before the interrogation stuff...

This is what I love about TDK right now. Even though we have, as some would say, too much info, there's no real way of piecing it together.

Look at Joker's make-up, for example. I remember reading in an early interview (I believe with Sir Michael Caine) that Joker never re-applies his make-up. It just "rots" off during the course of the movie. Looking at what we have, his make-up looks clean then messy in so many different scenes......

I still regret reading a lot of those spoilers, though. I don't think I'll click another spoiler tag 'til the movie comes out. :wow:

Bah...

By the time you start watching the movie you'll be too engrossed to care.

Thats how I feel. Plus, to me, knowing how a particular scene plays out or knowing a certain plot point is nothing compared to actually seeing it play out on screen.

See, I was expecting Joker arrested after crashing the party, then escaping jail, killing Loeb in the process. The way Gordon talks about Joker when he's sitting in the cell, no one knows who he is. If he had already gone around town blowing stuff up w/ a semi, i'd expect he'd have a reputation. Plus, Batman and Joker fighting in the streets in front of Wayne Tower seems pretty climatic to me.

I guess we don't really know at what point in the movie he will be arrested. I think it will probably sometime soon after the party scene too, but IDK.

but that leaves out the evacuation and the two barges

Okay, I'm going to try and piece some things together here, using pictures and reports. I'll put rumors in red.

Spoilers abound:

The movie opens with the Joker robbing a bank. We all know that, this is the prologue. The opening scene, probably just before the titles, assuming there are titles.

After this we will likely dive right in to Scarecrow in the parking garage (this scene is likely in the beginning of the movie. It was always rumored to be the opening scene, and at the very least is before Batman gets his new suit.)

Scarecrow appears to be selling drugs, most likely laced with the fear toxin, to the Chechens. If i remember correctly, the scene is said to be about the Chechens being pissed at Scarecrow for lacing the drugs. So they bring a junkie to show how messed up he is from the toxin.

This is then broken up by some fake Batmen. The only reason I put that in red is because it's not 100% known. But it's about 99%. A Batman was attacked by dogs and thrown from the parking garage. And from the original leaked pics we see that there are several fake Batmen apprehended, along with the Chechens and Crane. So that's how the scene ends. Scarecrow and his gang try to escape in their van but Batman latches on and cuts into the side of it (also shown in the leaked pics).

Maroni is now the top mob boss in the city. Dent is either still running for DA or has been elected, and he is targeting the mob and the corrupt police department.

At some point Joker gives a big speech to all the mob bosses in the city. Joker may have stolen most of the mob's money, and will give half back in return for the unmasking of the Batman. It has something to do with the mob's money and Batman most likely. And if it is, you can be sure that Joker is lying to the mob :hoboj:

Gambol decides to launder the mob's money in Hong Kong. And sends crooked accountant Lau to do so. This leads Bruce/Batman to go to Hong Kong to bring him back. Likely for Dent to prosecute.
The information gained from his capture is said to lead to the arrest of Sal Maroni.

The Joker is arrested. The mayor and Gordon are in attendance. This is "all part of the plan." Hard to say what led to this. There is spy footage of Harvey being in attendance on the street at the arrest. This could be after the Semi/Batpod chase. This could be very much before. But he is arrested and later interrogated by Batman, in which Batman ends up getting angry and beats the crap out of the Joker. All revealed from the trailer, the leaked pics, and spy footage.

The Semi chase appears to include the Batpod, the Tumbler, The Slaughter Semi, garbage trucks, SWAT vans and Police cars.

The mayor dies. This is a fact. However, there have been SLIGHTLY conflicting reports. There is a funeral for Commissioner Loeb. This is a fact. The Joker, along with goons dressed as cops shoot at the mayor. This is likely how he dies. But an article laiden with "POSSIBLE" spoilers reported that the Joker ordered the death of the mayor, or else he would blow up the hospital.

The Joker DOES blow up the Gotham hospital. It appears from the 2nd leaked pictures that the Joker came into the hospital looking for someone. It is rumored that it is Harvey Dent. But either way he ends up blowing up the hospital. It is rumored that Harvey was scarred prior to this and Joker goes to finish the job. This is in fact for speculation than rumor, as there are no real "sources" who came out with this idea that I know of.

All the while a man named Reese comes to TV pundit Mike Engel, claiming to know the identity of Batman. He plans to reveal it on TV. This is said to anger the Joker and he threatens to bomb the studio, which is then evacuated. It is also said that Reese attempts to blackmail Lucius Fox to get this Batman information. With what, I don't know.

When Joker threatens to kill people unless Batman reveals himself, Harvey Dent reveals himself to be Batman.

Bruce Wayne has a party that is crashed by the Joker. It is rumored that Joker is looking for Harvey Dent/Batman. Bruce hides Harvey and appears as Batman. Joker beats up Batman. (my own speculation: this could be with the help of a modified fear toxin "joker venom"). Joker then takes Rachel hostage. When Bruce returns to Dent, he is nowhere to be found. (all speculation really.)

A lot of this is out of order, we have no real indication for when anything happens for the most part.

Gordon is said to fake his own death at some point. And obviously at some point, either as a ruse, or out of frustration, Gordon turns on Batman and smashes the Batsignal.

With control of the mob, the mayor dead, the commissioner dead, and Dent incapacitated, Joker has taken control of the city. Joker says if the people don't like it, they can leave. Two barges are at the docks, and a mass exodus from Gotham takes place. The two barges are filled with innocents and criminals respectively. Joker tells the two that they can either be blown up, or decide to blow up the other.

Hard to piece this all together and I'm missing some obvious things. I hope this helps some people piece together the plot. And I'd like to see some people take this and place it together more coherently and with more information. But this is just some of the stuff I could think of off the bat.

i can't see the black text without highlighting cos of the theme I use :) nice summary btw lucha!

thanks robin =)

when i get the time i'll add in the things i left out and give some pictures and videos to go with it.

some things to work in.... (these are not in the right order... obviously)

*spoilers*

Joker threatens to kill all the people on Gotham's "A-list" unless he is given Batman on a silver platter. Dent claims to be Batman in order to save the A-listers. Because of this the Joker crashes a party at Wayne penthouse which Harvey is attending. Bruce is able to hide Harvey before Joker gets him. Joker then kidnaps Rachel.

Reese Attempts to Blackmail Fox in order to get Batman's identity.

After Joker's truck flips Joker is arrested by Gordon.

When Barbara is notified of Gordon's "death" she blames Batman.

Two-Face goes after Maroni. Moroni's driver is killed but Two-face's coin spares Maroni.

Ramirez calls Barbara and gives her Two-face's instructions

A vigilante (one of the fake bat-men) is hung from a street light. (It hits the window while Dent is talking to the Mayor about his plan for 18 months crime free).

....

yeah, but i mentioned dent claiming to be batman and the party, etc. some of that stuff there i touched upon, and the rest are things to add for sure. i will, probably later today after i get home from work.

That all looks really accurate to me Lucastyle. Good work putting that all together. There is one thing though that is a little off.

All the while Reese is a TV reporter who has somehow discovered the identity of Batman. He plans to reveal it on TV. This is said to anger the Joker and he makes a threat on Reese's life, and interupts his TV show.

Mike Engel (AMH) is the reporter/talk show host, not Reese. Reese is the one who finds out Batman's identity, but it is Engel who plans to reveal it on his show and the one who Joker makes the bomb threat to. A scene was filmed where the studio had to be evacuated due to the Joker's bomb threat.

Great work. All kinds of visuals pop into my head while reading those plot descriptions. I knew most of it already, but there were a few things I didn't know yet.

Ah okay, good call =)

I'll change that. And thanks =)

I didn't put in any research (other than reading nearly everything on here in the past year :)). Just all from memory really, but a couple things in the past few days made me wanna piece it all together. I'll try to do it even more detailed tonight or tomorrow.

just lending a hand

yep =) appreciated too. i wanna be as comprehensive as possible =D

The article in Empire confirms that Garcia dies at some point. Everyone believe that the parade is a funeral for Loeb, but it could be a passing out parade. Gothampolice.com makes reference to "The Gotham Police
Department proudly congratulates the fall graduates of the GPD Police Academy." I've seen our local police with their passing out parade, it looks similar, maybe this is when Garcia dies. From the casting scripts and leaked photos we know that the Joker dresses up as a cop. We also have the casting scritps:

INT. VACANT ROOM

Randolph enters: COPS IN UNDERSHIRTS, bound, gagged, blindfolded. Randolph moves to the first man, RIPS the tape from his mouth.

RANDOLPH
What happened?

TERRORIZED COP
(breathing hard)
Took...they took our guns, our uniforms...

RANDOLPH
Who?

TERRORIZED COP
I don't know. I just remember his...

RANDOLPH
His what?

TERRORIZED COP
His smile

I believe that Randolph is code for Loeb, he's catching up with the Joker but obviously he's too late. That said Loeb could still be killed/wounded at the parade as this casting script says

INT. RADIO STATION

The Mayor has a pained smile. MIKE ENGEL is taking calls.

CALLER (O.S.) ... hell, you got half the army on the streets - I wanna know when you're gonna catch the sonofa-

ENGEL
Okay. The guy's got a point - what can you say to people about their safety when this maniac's running around free?

MAYOR
The National Guard is here to reassure everyone that law and order is not under threat in this city. The Chief has assured me that -

ENGEL
And how's Randolph doing? We're hearing a lot of different stuff-

MAYOR
Mike, please, don't fuel people's paranoia. Randolph's alive, and looking forward to getting back to the job.

ENGEL
Wish him a speedy recovery. God knows we need him. Let's take another call - you're on the air.

Whacking the Police Commissioner at a passing out parade also makes senses. It would then smooth the transition to Gordon later down the track. It would also explain the National Guard coming in, as we know they do, because the police have been weakened. First the Narrows then this

Thats good thinking, but the parade is 100% sure Loeb's funeral. Also, I'm pretty sure that Randolph is supposed to be Gordon. At some point in the movie he fakes his own death and I think that this call has to do with that.
