What Were You the Lounge of Again?

No. Krypton was a worthy opponent. Unlike the others. Most just cry... like jokes.

It's over. Done. Finished. Now we move on to the next step... We have to capture............

Woody Harrelson.

It won't be easy. We'll need thirty stout men, Wesley Snipes, a talking bonobo, a pre-rehab Robert Downey Jr. and a strand of Nic Cage's real hair.

I've got Cage's hair in my closet. Check.

we need pheromones... Woody stopped smoking weed... we need something... new.

@flick kill that troll

I got the bonobo. Problem is it only speaks Spanish. It's keeps saying "Yo soy no es mono", and I'm all "I can't speak your crazy moon language!" Stupid monkey. As for pheromones... I have a pair of Courtney Loves panties. Don't ask... Just... DON'T ASK.

Signs I spend too much time on the Hype: I feel like I can predict certain posters' reactions to movies at a fairly accurate rate. And some here can probably predict mine.

Sorry to be so predictable. :woot:

I know you really liked it. I thought it was well done but my criticisms still stand despite having a good time in the theater. As I wrote in my review, I was both entertained yet felt frustrated at aspects that in the end came off almost obnoxious to me. Also... I'm not waiting around for the post cred scenes if they are just gonna jerk me around like this.

LOL, I mean no offense, I think we're all a little predictable here at this point KRYPTON. At least we're consistent in our tastes. :cwink:

Reek... Having been in the presence of the woman for an extended period and having to be a pseudo baby sitter... I can buy the suicide angle no problem. :o

Dear God, I'm sorry you had to endure that.

You have no idea flick. It was a strange and aggravating portion of my life that luckily only amounted to about nine months. Up close she's a perfect poster child for what drug addiction can do to a person. When she was sober I totally got why the likes of a Cobain, a Corgan or a Crowe were into her. She's charming, peripatetic in her knowledge and even frankly alluring... But she's almost never sober. And when she's not sober she's a pampered unthinking brat that's a danger to herself and others.

She needs to be sent to Australia... let those crazy SOB's deal with her...

The "one joke over the line" thing is something I feel fairly regularly with both GotG movies (strangely enough, the 1st more than the 2nd, which I know is the opposite from how most people here feel), but I only felt it in about 2 scenes in Ragnarok. I guess it helps that I just found most of these jokes to be much funnier in general. Taika's humor just works for me so much better.

I definitely get the, "one joke over the line" comment. I did feel that from time to time, especially early, even as I really did like it.

I don't want to come off saying it was crap or anything. I LOVE the first film and this felt a lot more like a worthy successor than the sequel. And man, if you are someone that was a Thor comic fan that felt he's not been given his due power wise, then this is the film for you. The "gods" in general just all feel more dynamic and powerful in this movie. Chris's charisma is on full display and he's cemented his place as Thor in the audience's mind no doubt. And dear lord the action was fantastic. They handled the fight in the arena even better than I thought they would. Another kudos is the stuff they kept close to the vest and didn't reveal in the promo material. That was a nice surprise. It's entertaining... I think my issue is it's not engaging. But... I won't repeat my review here.

I am with you there. When I got to the end of the second act, I had the thought that this is what GotG wants to be. It almost makes me want to reevaluate those movies. While there is a lot of humor here, I also think there is a lot of other emotions and real heart here.

Its also funny. This movie has a lot of humor and a lot of what might be considered well worn humor. But it never felt juvenile to me. And I believe it in world. GotG is kind of 4th Wall be damned.

You most certainly didn't crap on it, and I completely understand your POV and appreciate it, especially as a fellow Thor fan. I think there are obviously weaker aspect that will bother me more in the future. But going back to the first Thor film, I felt like this movie earned its ending a lot like that film did. It made me enthusiastic in a way I wasn't expecting.

The jokes ALL worked. They land. Waititi is a great humorist and he traffics in the kind of humor I enjoy, and think works for the world of super heroes.

Thers's just so much of it and... It's really rapid fire.

I will say no more other than this... I might wake up in the afternoon and think to myself, "Man... I could sure go for some fried chicken." I go to the dinner, sit down, ask the server for fried chicken , wait, but have him come back with a pulled pork sandwich. "Where's the fried chicken I ordered?" "Sorry dude... All out. We substituted a pork sandwich." I eat the sandwich. IT's FINE. It's more than edible. It's food, like fried chicken. It's meat, like fried chicken. It's greasy, like fried chicken... It could be a great pulled pork sandwich I might even recommend to my buddies... But that doesn't change the fact that what I wanted in the end was fried chicken and not a pulled pork sandwich. That's gonna shade my review of the sandwich in some way. :woot:

If I go into a place looking for fried chicken that I expect to be there and it isn't there... well there is going to be some problems. :o

Krypton, you going to see JL in theaters and if so, on opening day?

LOL, I totally get where you're coming from, KRYPTON. I'm coming from a place of having no love for Thor in the comics or movies, and no knowledge of the Ragnarok event from the comics, so I'm basically that person that says, "I'm hungry. Is this a restaurant? Give me your best item. Pulled pork, cool. Damn, that's a good sandwich."

Conceptually, as a comedic Thor film, the movie succeeds, but as an adaptation of Ragnarok and Planet Hulk....

I'm gonna try to see JL opening weekend somehow. Like with RAGNAROK I've been pretty damn good staying away from the excess promo material. Which enhanced TR since there was some stuff I didn't know was coming since all I saw was the trailers and like two clips. With JL I have seen the trailers and have been really good steering clear of all the tv stuff and clips and BTS material out there.

TLJ is the same. My podcast partner Ed made me see that World Series TLJ spot and it only had one shot that I wish I hadn't seen and no, it's not [BLACKOUT]Luke related... though I think kinda looks like a dude carjacking the Falcon for some reason. Now we know why he's hiding out... He's got warrants. :o[/BLACKOUT]. I have been good not seeking out every scrap. I have a feeling this one is gonna be really special and I want the experience of having it wash all over me in the theater first.
