What Were You the Lounge of Again?

I liked it fine myself. I get to a certain degree the reactions that aren't super positive or those thinking it's not quite at the level of season one. But I think a big part of that is that this new season didn't really have a "mystery" to be solved. I won't reveal any more but it's much more a continuation and expansion of what we already knew. Nothing totally new is introduced that get's slowly revealed. That's my view more or less. So that rush from the first season isn't there. But I liked the continuation and felt it hit the right notes and there is one episode that feels like it expands the scope of the story going forward, and it will be a shame if they don't follow that episode's thread going into season three.

I was quite happy just to be spending more time in this world with these characters (and hopefully some new ones), so mere continuation/expansion is fine with me. Are there already plans for a season 3? I really felt for the character's situation in the first season and almost wanted to get in there and help lol. I think that is a great sign that a show has got to me when I feel like that.

It's a good dramatization of how profiling really got started, something most of us take for granted. I was also already familiar with most of the killers they interviewed which was pretty cool. :)

Oh right, interesting.

Haha, you're a legit expert in this field!

Is he anything like Sheriff Longmire....love that character?

I've read a lot of books, lol. My husband is frightened I'm plotting to kill him. :p

I know, I've seen your list!

Hahaha, that would be worrying seeing your Mrs obsessed by murder books. :woot:

Lol, truthfully they mostly prove that you don't get away with it more often than not. The forensics now are mind blowing, truly. :p

From what I've read the Duffers seem to now have a four season story in mind. So two down and two to go. So I am guessing we'll see these kids' lives going up to at least junior year of American high school.

Yep, for Netflix shows I'm excited about, I usually get that day off from work and binge it in one go. It's my preferred viewing method. The ones I did NOT do that for are House of Cards and Mindhunter. I need more time to digest those - must be the Fincher effect, lol.

I enjoyed it. Not quite as much as S1, as I felt like it started to feel a bit like a repeat of S1 toward the end. But there were a couple of aspects I really liked that made stand out on its own a bit.
I do that with Netflix shows I'm anticipating if I have time. I don't take the day off work though lol. But pretty much all my cable shows I watch an episode here or there so I've started pretty much everything and progressing probably more slowly than new episodes are being released. I have a hell of a lot to catch up on as I watched almost no shows at all for a good many years a while back.

Cool, sounds like I will like it fine then.

Oh right, great! That seems like the right length overall for this.

Oh, good to hear. Have they advanced much in recent years? I really don't know much about this.

One of the issues I had with crime shows is that they give the criminals too many ideas on how to hide their tracks!

From what I've read while it's true that the science is amazing these days and the technology is far advanced from the infancy of criminal forensics that the way we see it presented on TV and in movies gives the wrong impression to the average American viewer of such stuff. This has actually led to some bad outcomes in court.

If he's your cup of tea (heh... Cuz you're from the U.K.) John Oliver's show LAST WEEK TONIGHT did a segment available on YouTube that goes through the details of the issues with forensic science in a balanced way I thought.

All that said... Yeah, unlike in movies there are few "perfect crimes" and the littlest details these days can trip a criminal up.

Glad to hear it. Bad outcomes means what? Criminals going down for things they thought they might have got away with based on shows they'd watched?

Ok will look that up.

It's a shame these high-tech forensics aren't used to solve burglaries in the UK. You're lucky even to get a visit from the police.

If you can watch that segment you'll see the issues. It's more like when you see "hackers" on TV and people just type randomly on the keyboard and stuff happens. Or when someone gets a picture or some video and the lead character tells the nerd guy to "enhance" and it just magically does it? That's not how it works in real life but we see it enough on TV and just assume that's the way it is.

This isn't to place major doubts on the science by any means. Genetic testing, computer forensics, more and more precise equipment... It's all close to the realm of science fiction from 30 years ago.

Oh right.

And very interesting. Great to know they are progressing very well on such an important area. I wish the use of forensics was more widespread as they could surely discourage house burglaries/break ins long term if they started using it for that.

You win the Open tomorrow, and you're automatically on the Pro Tour. Then who knows, maybe you'll win the Tour Championship. Get that gold jacket that I never got.

I really need that extra hour. My Saturday was busy af. Now I intend on being as lazy as possible for Sunday.
