What Were You the Lounge of Again?

I have to give the gifted a try... But literally nothing I have seen makes me want to watch it.

Okay... One thing makes me curious. Jessie from BURN NOTICE is in it.

Unless you liked the cheese of Heroes you're not missing a whole lot. :p

I'd never consider Stranger Things a slow burn at all. It's more like an 8-hour movie to me. Fairly fast-paced, at least by Netflix standards. But compared to a broadcast network show like The Gifted, sure, it's a little slower than that.

As for The Gifted, eh, it's alright. It does struggle to hold my interest sometimes. Legion is BY FAR the superior Fox/Marvel show, but that was to be expected given the creator/networks involved (now that one's a slow burn).

Now Legion I liked even if it was a bit of a mind bender at times. To me it was a much higher quality show than The Gifted.

Heroes wasn't cheesy in it's first season... Then it went on to become convoluted dreck after.

I think it builds and builds but each individual episode feels like a chapter in a book. It always felt like each episode was longer than it's actual runtime to me but it never really dragged.

Though admittedly, I don't binge shows. Oh I'll watch from one to three episodes of something streaming if I am into it, but I won't burn through the season in a couple of days or even a week sometimes. Hell, I didn't even get to STRANGER THINGS until it had been out for many months.

Oh was I supposed to watch Stranger Things slowly (to let it sink in)? Damn, got that one completely wrong! I mean I was expecting to watch it slowly but then I started watching, and couldn't stop.

I'm watching it out of some kind of obligation as an X-fan. It's been ok so far but I don't think anyone without that obligation would think they'd missed anything important as of yet.

I watched the whole thing in one sitting, lol. Same for S2.

no... you're going to cut that **** out, and concentrate on golf!

I haven't gotten around to watching Stranger Things yet....have a lot of plates on the table as is.

Sheriff Jim Hopper is your spirit animal C. Lee. You'll know what I mean once you finally see it. :woot:

You've done those one day binges quite a few times right? I think I remember you doing it for other shows? I either all-out binge or watch really slowly. There are about 20 shows I'm slowly getting through at the moment but in between that I'll just go through something else from start to finish super-fast. Oh what did you think of season 2 compared to the first for ST? I haven't really read posts in the thread for it to avoid getting spoiled but did notice a couple which seemed negative on it.

That was me with Mindhunter, I just gobbled it up, it was so good!

Haha, funny you say that. I have a feeling C Lee will love that character.

Did you know much about it beforehand? What I'd heard about Stranger Things made me think it was more a thing I should watch that everyone else loved, but I'd only like rather than love. I'll probably try an episode of Mindhunter during my time off work soon.

I'd read the Mindhunter book, it's almost a requirement for true crime enthusiasts. :D

Stranger Things I've been hearing about from my co-workers for a while now. :)

I liked it fine myself. I get to a certain degree the reactions that aren't super positive or those thinking it's not quite at the level of season one. But I think a big part of that is that this new season didn't really have a "mystery" to be solved. I won't reveal any more but it's much more a continuation and expansion of what we already knew. Nothing totally new is introduced that get's slowly revealed. That's my view more or less. So that rush from the first season isn't there. But I liked the continuation and felt it hit the right notes and there is one episode that feels like it expands the scope of the story going forward, and it will be a shame if they don't follow that episode's thread going into season three.

I must say I'm not that into true crime. But I'll definitely give the show a go on Squeeks' recommendation.

Lee might be the only other Longmire fan I have seen on here. :woot:

Yep, for Netflix shows I'm excited about, I usually get that day off from work and binge it in one go. It's my preferred viewing method. The ones I did NOT do that for are House of Cards and Mindhunter. I need more time to digest those - must be the Fincher effect, lol.

I enjoyed it. Not quite as much as S1, as I felt like it started to feel a bit like a repeat of S1 toward the end. But there were a couple of aspects I really liked that made stand out on its own a bit.

It's a good dramatization of how profiling really got started, something most of us take for granted. I was also already familiar with most of the killers they interviewed which was pretty cool. :)
