They have to do something. Arkham City is incredible. Surely there's someone at Marvel's video game department who cares as much about their characters as Rocksteady did for Batman.

I'm hoping for a Spidey game that's not based off a movie, have him teaming up with other heroes, or one that has him going through different dimensions. Just one that based off the comics with GG or Doc Ock as the main villain.

They probably do, but what character could they do a game for that we care enough about? For example, Spidey is at Activision. So we can forget him getting the attention and care of an Arkham City.

This. Please, this.

A quality Spider-Man game like that would be the only chance for a Marvel game to be equal Arkham games I think.

Who says they NEED to do a game as good as Arkham City?

This.

How 'bout looking at Arkham Asylum/City as the FIRST decent DC video game in, like, ever? Versus a long history of Marvel games that were acclaimed by critics and fans alike. Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, X-Men Legends, Punisher, The X-Men arcade, X:Men COTA, the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and of course the biggie....Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Arkham City and the first game really captured what its like to be batman and the coolness of it. Marvel came close with spiderman 2 on the PS2 back in 2004. The problem with marvel characters are there mostly light hearted affair and not really dark and grim like batman is. I cant believe Im saying this but most of marvels characters havent really translated that well to video games. Theres been a few sprinkled in throughout time like wolverine origins, spiderman 2 and ultimate alliance 1 but there are way many more stinkers then hits. Spiderman 3 still ranks up there as the biggest let down from its predecessor not just from the game counterpart but the fillm as well.

I would love to see a Daredevil game. It might be a little too close to Arkham City, what with the roaming the streets and the detective mode being quite similar to DD's sonar vision, but I would still love to see it happen.

Would have been interesting to see how that would have played.

no they don't.

I'd say go with Iron Man, the free roam capabilities and armor customization could be really really neat.

^Yeah, a proper Iron Man game would be cool!

Agree with Iron Man presenting the most unique possibilities for a really well done game.

Well, Batman is probably the only really "dark" character that DC has, while Marvel has alot of superheroes that can be called dark, such as Ghost Rider, Punisher, and even Daredevil (Frank Miller's version, anyway). As for Marvel's answer to Arkham City, it will only happen if they start giving the rights to more credible developers (ie no Sega). And I won't worry about it as a Marvel fan, since DC still doesn't have an answer to Marvel vs Capcom or Ultimate Alliance.

Yes because it was all Sega's fault, just forget that all their games were movie tie ins, in other words very little production time given, so the games were basically destined to suck. Activision the great developers behind X-Men Legends and Ultimate Alliance made crappy Fantastic Four games, it was based on the Legends/Alliance formula, but due to short production time it sucked. Also, I don't think Marvel's publishers (Marvel doesn't actually have a game studio division) will answer Arkham City, seeing as they didn't answer Asylum.

Moon Knight, gameplay will be like Assassin's Creed & BAA, early part play as Marc Spector the mercenary, plays as third person CoD mode

Like RE games, there needs to be an unlockable mode, dude plays like RE4 Spector mercenary game like the short stories from volume 1

Or Activision can get some sense and finally release the sequel to Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro.

EDIT: But with fighting mechanics similar to Assassin's Creed or Arkham, and with the tone of Shattered Dimensions.

I think if you want a good spiderman game, get the people who made Just Cause 2 to work on it using that same engine (which is amazing).

Although I agree, that it shows the power of the batman franchise, when coupled with a great game.

I think DC will have to pump out ANOTHER one for a different super hero before Marvel Responds. Realistically I dont think one game shows enough to invest into video games. Especially with so many of the marvel games coming out. It seems to be them it's not about quality, it's about quantity. And don't get me wrong, DC still treats this with some of there other heroes. A great example is the green lantern game...just completely terrible. You can tell they wanted to sell as many as they could in the shortest amount of time.

I mean even MUA had great potential, the x-men legend games originally did well. And they only had to build on them, instead they came out with MUA, which was far less than revolutionary. It made for a decent but not exceptionally over well done that AA and AC have shown is possible with a super hero game.

Overall, the right company has to come to marvel to do this. I don't know why Marvel doesn't look into hiring a visionary leader to motivate and look over a project who understands gaming. I think the stories have been pretty well done, I mean if you were to do a basic "story line" graph, it looks great on paper.

You can just see people get so caught up in, "Good web slinging makes for a great spider-man game". Which is TRULY not the case, people want to play as Peter Parker Spider-man, not Dude who swings with cool web. I think this is something that AA has done really well.

You never feel like your playing a standard game. You feel like your playing a BATMAN game, it's very immersive, and makes sure you know you feel like batman.

And I truly think, that most video games based on super heroes go in with that wrong mentality, because I know that's the first thing I think of, hey you know what would be cool...if I was a green lantern and given the ability to create cool objects!

Well, truth is that is "cool". But thats really not what makes AA & AC, and super hero games feel genuine, and any different than every other game where you have some sort of special power.

I'd really want to see the business #'s in what generates more profit versus more revenue. My money is that AA's & AC's current business model with DLC being added will generate FAR more than the other games, but not because its cool to have those costumes, but because everyone knows that those DLC's are going to be done with quality.

So overall, I don't expect marvel to retaliate with there own title, not in the forseeable future. They don't have someone who understands both markets the way Sefton Hill does and his team do. (I'm guessing it's sefton who had the vision, i could be wrong.)

However, I do envision more and more super hero games coming out in the next bit, as more and more companies try to tap into this market. As this happens, I imagine we'll start see more quality games.

Although I'm not the world's biggest Wolverine fan, I think if you gave a great developer the kind of opportunities to play with his lore like Rocksteady was given, you could come up with a pretty amazing video game.

It's either him or Spidey, is the thing. Arkham City is made great but clever use of iconic villains. While with Wolverine dipping into the X-men's rogues and Spider-man having his own army of baddies, they're the only two that could really pull off City-style success.

Moon Knight could make one real good game, and the dude needs good exposure

The problem is that Moon Knight has no exposure and games like AA cost a ton of money to make. They aren't going to invest in a Moon Knight game that'd be on the same level.

I think more crappy time travelling Spiderman games are likely. The Ultimate Alliance games are ok. If they're trying for open-world though, Spiderman is the way to go.

Well duh! Green Lantern was a tie in game, so of course it was made to sell the most copies in the shortest amount of time, it was probably also done with a very short timeline and low budget.
