As we all know, Raimi and screenwriters have at least attempted humor at these movies so far, albeit at the expense of Spidey's wisecracks. Unfortunately, seeing as how the first two movies fell short of classic Stan Lee wit, the third looks unlikely to compensate for this shortcoming, as we are now getting a moral tale of revenge with Uncle Ben's "real" killer, the symbiote, Venom, and the possible deaths of Harry and Aunt May.
However, IMO, this movie will cease to achieve its dramatic effect without some kind of comic relief.
Therefore, what do you all think will make up the lighter side of S-M3? Will it have much humor at all? Post your opinions here, and we'll see if 3 goes down as the darkest installment in terms of content or lack of what necessitates a "comic book" movie. :word:

Two words: Bruce. Campbell.

If he's in the movie, no way you won't have a laugh or three. I wonder what little menial job he'll have this time? Ring announcer....Theater usher....what could be next?

I think it would be funny if there was a Askewniverse-type running gag where all the characters Campbell plays are related since they all look exactly alike.

The traditional Hoffman/Jameson naming stint in the Bugle.

'Green Goblin 2?'

'Nah that's crap, Night Surfer!'

Funny you should say that, because i read somewhere (the Q&A perhaps?) that his playing Quentin Beck in 3, DOES in fact tie together the ring announcer and the theater usher from 1 & 2. :yay: So, you're probably on to something.

Nice  My thoughts exactly.

Venom goes to attack JJJ & grabs him by the hair & rips off his toupee, then JJJ runs & hides because he is embarrassed.

It's Angry Friend With Weapons.:cmad::p

jjj and hoffman making name for sandman in daily bugle

"how about sandmonster?,

"that is crap, i got it, sandman, get out of my office".

^

Hoffman: Oh, Sandman...That's original.

I think the humour in Spider-Man 3 will be very limited this time round. Although, I think they will derive from J.Jonah Jameson at the Daily Bugle and hopefully some of Spidey's lines will make me chuckle a bit. However, Spider-Man seems like he will be possesed by the symbiote most of the time and get drunk off the power he portrays.

Topher WILL be the most funny actor in the movie. I guarantee that. if he doesn't steal the movie, I'll be completely surprised.

Anyway expect more of the same gags.

JJJ's pissed at the world and yells at Ted Raimi.

Parker's so dorky and lame, even Steve Urkel pities him.

The romance might have some hilarious moments when MJ catches peter with Gwen.

I expect to laugh at every line Kirsten tries to read dramatically.

Sandman looks goshdarn hilarious, just because of his wtf expression on his face all the time.

:yay: I expect nothing really witty or funny from spidey in this movie though. He'll be too busy crying again. Plus tobey doesn't have a funny bone in him anyway. I sometimes wish chris evans were spidey.

Do you mean that you will laugh at Topher, or that his actual lines that are meant to be funny are going to make you laugh?

Ted: How about Sandman?
JJJ: Nah, that's crap...then again, he could be crap, that looks like corn right there...Yeah, let's go with Sandman!

Probably a little of both. He's a pathetic casting choice for the brutish Eddie brock, but also a great comedic actor so I expect to be rolling on the floor when eddie's doing eddie stuff.

Well, why would you say he's a pathetic choice? I think we've all seen by now that hey may not be as large as the comic book Brock, but that he can bring a lot to the character regardless.

are you now going to say that brock was always big?

Snore...

Well of course he doesn't look like brock. I have eyes too. Think deeper...

Topher's as imposing and threatening as a garden gnome.

Boo!

I'm really only interested in how many quips he'll have.

Well heres where i can see humor

After punching through sandman, spidey gets knocked down the street and has a funny reaction to the hit.

When he loses the suit, hes gotta get home..........naked.

"If we can get a picture of Spider-Man webslinging home in a thong we can surely get a picture of this weirdo!"

:woot:

If Tucker has a cameo like it was rumored... that could be very interesting... should be a kick ass scene... but Cambell usually steals the show... SM2 was not funny at all though...

To me it'd be Aunt May breaking her hip or Aunt May as Carnage lol

But seriously it'll be the usually Hoffman and J.J. banter, maybe a few wisecracks from Spider-Man directed at Sandman and Venom like:

Spider-Man to Sandman: Sand. Ain't it a beach.

or

Spider-Man to Sandman: I hate getting sand in my tights.

And Spider-Man to Venom: Hey Gene Simmons called, he wants his tongue back.

Leave the the jokes, humor and funny crap alone. This is why I'm hoping that Sandman IS actually Uncle Ben's killer, I don't want it to be a dream sequence...I want angry people all around in this film. From the movie to the angry geeks. The set up with Harry, Sandy and Brock are means for nothing but anger and revenge and death. Let it flow. Plus, they've only got about 20 minutes to put any type of humor in it, before Pete finds out who killed his Benny...and that's when all humor stops.

i think the night surfer quip thing would be funny. Hoffman:"How about Night Surfer"
Jameson:"No that's crap! Who the hell would have a name like that!"
