What would you like to see in the rumoured new costume?

instead of a Round-Winged Bat). I would also like the ears to be a bit more like the Bob Kane design (that suit is still one of Batman's best)

I think ear length/style has always been an artistic/stylistic decision on the behalf of the given artist and I wouldn't want to change that for any sort of 'canon ear length'.
But the Kane picture here clearly illustrates (har har) the heavy use of blue needed to achieve all black.
Frankly I doubt a new costume will stick, especially if it's a huge departure, tweaking it over time seems to be a much better way to keep it from just being like that Electric Superman flop.

as close to the original as they get would be awesome, but it would still need some updates

Sorry it's crude, but I did this one on MS Paint and I've never been good at drawing with a mouse. If I had to revamp Batman's costume it would look something like this.

he should switch to a pink suit with a yellow and orange polkadotted emblem

Batman should look like this...

That is all.

Seconded. Most of my favorite Bat-artists are the ones who portray it that-a-way.

The guy who did "Broken City" is great, too.

i love these guys as well. i think the costume is already flexible enough to allow artists alot of freedom to put thier own stamp. i mean no one draws bats the same so why pin it down with some other new "official" template?

why change what is already working?

(deleted wagner for space but i love him too...)

Here's an idea I had. Dunno how well it would work in the long run. It's a little too different.

i love this design... replace the cowl with the one we have now in the comics BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT WOULD BE SWEET....

Dave Gibbon's Batman design from Batman VS. Predator would do nicely.

Here's a little idea that's been going around in my head for a while, might have gone a bit overboard on his muscle-structure, though :P

here's another sketch of the same concept...

Reminds me to much of Nightwings design, if you could change the symbol then I think you would be onto something.

I think the simpler Batmans costume is with the details of seems and stiches has always been the best route. It gives the artist enough room to tweek what he believes he sees of it, plus its just fun to play around with those things in general.

I hope it is all black.

This is Crazy...I love Ross' work.

His redesign is going to be KICKASS!!!

I see whate people are saying about his typical black though...

His Spider-man and Captain America both have that "V" design suit on their torso. Spiderman's V is red, and the rest of him is black.

America's V is the US flag, rest of him is black...

So is it possible that Ross' Batman will have a GREY V, rest of him being black (ive drawn that up once, but dont know where I put it)

Had the same thought about the V-design, that's what made me think about that symbol. Could also see Ross coming up with a red Symbol, or at least a red outline on top of an all black suit, not unlike his armor design from Justice. But I think one thing's for sure with ross, it's that we won't get that ultra-realistic home-made type suit for Batman, he always makes his heroes look like SUPERHEROES in tight-fitting shiny suits, he way go at the utility belt with a more realistic approach though, like he did with the Captain America-suit.

I would love to see Ross go with something tactical and practical:)

Something very SUPERHERO looking, but part of it...kind of like The Dark Knight suit.

I want it too look armored, but I want it to keep that classic look

Like:

A hard/helmet kind of cowl. Something that looks like it would protect his head.

And than maybe something along the lines of the new Captain America. A shiney metal black chest plate, with matte black everything else.

A red Bat logo, or a silver bat logo.

Metal shiny gaunlets.

Shin gaurds.

And the belt like Cap America's belt.

Yes!

I've always wanted Batman to have a big metal symbol on his chest, one that would take a bullet and leave a dint, you know? Did something like that in a concept I did about a year ago, the idea behind it was a more home-made style look for the suit as opposed to the millionaire-everything goes-thing.

Haha wow, almost exactly like my description. strange.

Cool though, that is what I was imagining. Something along those lines.

But I love the all black costume idea. So I wonder if he will pull it off.

Nice design though, interesting.

Don't change the costume, leave it alone. Why? Becuase it won't stay changed for very long.

i agree... ARTISTS CAN GIVE THEIR INTERPRETATIONS OF THE BAT FOR A HUNDRED YEARS & IT WILL ALWAYS GO BACK TO BLACK & GREY OR BLACK w/ or w/o the yellow oval...

Totally agree, there's a reason the suit has lasted for 60 years. It works. If its not broke, why fix it?

Azreal Bat, Electric Superman, Ben Reily Spidy, Iron Spidey, none of those costumes lasted because the original designs are so classic, simple & iconic.

I've always liked the way different artists interpret it- bigger ears, black instead of blue, etc, its those little things that have kept the suit fresh after all these years.
