Hi, i thought it would be interesting to see some of the knowledge we obtained from the previous x-men movies of what was cut and what was left out. and you never know you may learn something. Well i'll start to give you a feel...

The character of Gambit was initially going to be in x1, and ever since then they tried to add him into each movie but couldnt find a way to do it that would give him justice.

But doesnt mean they didnt try.

In X-Men 1
> Gambit was originally going to be one of the x-men, with the team dynamic being Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Storm and Gambit... paying homage to the fact that there was originally 5 x-men in the comics although they were not the same as the original five, the dynamic was to have 5, plus a loud of students at the school. In regards to the story Rogue and Wolverine were always going to be introduced to there world like what happend in the actual movie. Gambit's role was to be the love interest for Rogue during the movie... Much to how iceman had that role in the actual movies. However sometime during the transfer from that draft of the script and Bryan Singer taking over. Gambit plus a few other mutants that was to appear was dropped because Singer saw that Gambits ability was simular to Cyclops and his attitude was to close to Wolverine. So he was taken out, after several re-writes Beast was also dropped as his role was only minor and costly and they were trying to get as many different powered mutants as possible but by cheap effect. so they can spend money on the optical blasts and mystiques transformation...

- How i know this is because ive seen several versons of the script floating online for the original x-men - was sometime ago and dont know weather those sites still exist but please feel free to try and find them...

Gambit in X2

Bryan wanted to include Gambit in X2 but saw he had no place in a wolverine story... something we credit singer with but not hugh jackman;'s wolverine. So as a comprismise Gambit had a cameo role in the cerebro scene where his powers goes haywire. Now That scene was actually filmed. The reason i know this is because the actor who played the part of Gambit was James Bamford from Stunts Canada, who bares quiet a good gambit appearance. I e-mailed him via finding it on his website and he confirmed that although he did stunts for X2 he did film the scene, he discribed the scene as being simular to the bar at the begining of the first x-men movie where were introduced to wolverine. Gambit was sat around a table with three others but his back was to the camera so you only saw him from behind, but he had his tradmark brown trenchcoat. The scene saw him playing cards but he accidently charges the cards and then the table explodes with cards and the four round the table falling backwards. Unfortunatly he didnt have any pictures from that day but confirmed the scene was filmed.

So maybe oneday Bryan SInger might include it on a X2 aniversy disc special.

X-Men 3

Now there are two parts to how gambit was going to be introduced, the first part was under the idea that Bryan Singer was still directing the movie, From what im told in Bryan Singers treatment the Hellfireclub plays a part in the phoenix transformation and her transformation sparks the war between magnetos brotherhood... Gambits role was an extended cameo which saw him as one of the hellfire's hired help... with Dr.Nathaniel Essex being a member of the hellfire who takes a personal interest in Jean and the phoenix power. However when singer left the project this script was dropped as the vision was too big and they believed they needed something more simplure to explain. So the cure idea was developed. Gambit was then to appear as a prisoner onboard the same moving prison mystique was one, He was freed by Magneto but simply rejects his radical offer to join his brotherhood. This role from what im told was almots filmed and they HAD and actor who was going to play the role. However i do not know wh was the confirmed actor who was going to play gambit But i do know a few who tried out for it. One being Scott Madej who tried out for the role but he was confused weather it would be Gambit or a young Xavier but later confirmed it was gambit. The role was then dropped because they felt it didnt do him Justice. Others offered that role was Josh Holloway who turned it down.

Gambit was then made priorty to appear in the next franchise which was X-Men Origins Wolverine.

Ok so anyone else know of any characters that were added and dropped from the series? i know a few but i thought it would be best to had one at a time. i can give you the history on characters like Beast, Sinister, Avalanche, blob they all date back to x1

Regarding Gambit in X3:

Channing Tatum very nearly got his chance when he was all-but cast as Gambit’s alter ego, Remy LeBeau, in Brett Ratner’s “X-Men: The Last Stand”. The character, however, was dropped at the last minute.

“They didn’t end up putting his character in because he’s such a big character that they were waiting…”

When it was decided that Gambit would make his big-screen debut in “Wolverine” instead, Tatum was immediately contacted about the role, but found that it would be impossible to work out in terms of schedule due to his commitments with “G.I. Joe.” The role ultimately went to Taylor Kitsch instead, a choice that Tatum endorses with just a little bit of jealousy.

is'nt that funny now with transformers 2 coming out and all lol

I had heard they cast John Reyes-Myers (Sp?), one of Cruise's partners in MI:3, before X-3.

There had been a number of candidates for gambit. People seem to forget who was considered to play gambit in x1 - which was Joseph Gordon-Levitt, however it never went anywhere because that script was re-written

I found storyboard for X2 and it's basically the extended version of Wolverine's visit to Alkali Lake that never got filmed.

Sentinels... I want 'em!

Here's what the Sentinels were going to look like in X2 but there's no paint job done on it.

There was one statue that had complete paint job but I can't find that image, if someone could find it, it would be much appreciated.

I actually liked the design and thought it could work.
