Sequels Lauren Shuler Donner talks X-Men: First Class, Gambit and Deadpool

Will we see Gambit in the upcoming X-MEN FIRST CLASS film? Nope, we won't see Gambit in that, he wasn't part of Xavier's first class a the school, but it looks like we may be seeing him in his own spin off film.

Donner says, "There are internal discussions" about a Gambit spin-off and "they are going to figure all that out."

What about bringing back X-MEN and X2 director Bryan Singer for another go around?

"Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan [Singer] on for another movie. And, if it's like the first Deadpool or the first Gambit, I think, I mean, I hope he would be interested..."

Looks like the X-MEN franchise isn't going anywhere and still has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Deadpool and Gambit are coming if Lauren Shuler Donner has her way, and she usually does.

The part in 'Wolverine' is not really a cameo (according to American Heritage, "A brief appearance of a prominent actor, as in a single scene of a motion picture"). Neither parts of the description fit.

I used to think differently, but now it sounds more interesting to have him somewhere - anywhere - else, rather than the X-Men. I don't really like the teen superhero stuff they are likely to do in First Class.

Some good things about First Class, though: Patrick Stewart might come back and there's no more James Marsden as Cyclops (I guess that's confirmed). Beast might be in there, too - X3 said he was part of the team. Also, in three movies, they eventually grow up.

Wolverine's supposed to be a loner, though. I hope they won't change that and make him keep a "sidekick". Especially not in Japan, if that's still in.

Well, in all fairness, Wolverine and Gambit have worked together in the comics before. They even had their own miniseries. You can still be a loner but team up with people for a common goal. You don't even have to like each other.
But he could also play a prominent role in the movie without being a sidekick.

I think it is more fun when they dont like each other, and try to be better than the other one, but Gambit probably end up being more of a sidekick than a partner

Deadpool spinoff.... I could see a cheaply made film to milk that out sometime over the next three years. Gambit spinoff is a head scratcher... there is obviously material there with the Morlocks and the mutant massacre and they can really expand the existing universe, but it's just another story and nothing more. First Class I can see for obvious reasons, but that isn't trilogy material and no way will Patrick do more than one more film IMO. Then there is always Wolverine... looks like many crap spinoffs to come... but I do like the potential of non-Wolverine spinoffs... other than Deadpool, based on what they made of his character.

Personally I just wish they would do another X4 5 and 6. Shoot them back to back and try to end the series in a better way. cyclops could easily be brought back with Sinister, and Prof X was revealed to be alive at the end of X3. So bring Sinister in X4, and set up Sentinels in X5 and end it with Apocalapyse. And it's bull that you can't do him justice in a realistic way. I thought X-men Evolution translated him in the most real way you can do while keeping him badass.

That all sounds good. They could also use some hokey explanation to keep gambit from being so much older maybe something to do with sinister.

I think we can safely expect Deadpool and Gambit to fall through. Magneto has a slightly better chance of seeing daylight, but First Class is much more likely and wolverine 2 is all but guaranteed.

Sadly I see Deadpool and Magneto falling through, not Gambit. Why? Pretty boy protagonist, and Lauren loves him. What Lauren wants, Lauren gets.

When asked about Magneto and Deadpool she just kind of fluffed it off... but when Gambit came up she gushed.
