Today, I just purchased The Inferno by Dante Alighieri for 1 dollar at Borders :wow:

This is a book I've always wanted to read, as are the other 2 installments to The Divine Comedy. I'm actually glad I decided to pick this up today. My goal is to read all 3 books by the end of the summer.

What's something you always wanted to check out but got lazy? Let's get to work on reading some things we've been lazy on

Here are a few:

-Slaughterhouse 5
-Shutter Island
-A Drink Before the War (I've read all the books in the series, except this first one)
-The Anead
-The Once and Future King

The Stand
Origin Of Species
Slaughter House 5
LOTR: Two Towers (Reading Now), Return Of The King.

* gone with the wind. i've started it twice i never really got into it like i've wanted

* The Iliad. I bought it years ago but haven't read it yet

for the two who haven't read Slaughterhouse 5, i suggest picking it up for a fun read. I read it in AP English my senior year and it's one of the few books we read that i actually enjoyed and read all of

i've always been intrigued by those dante books as well. but im worried that once i go to read them the language will seem so foreign, i'll just get bored with it. either way, i've always wanted to read the 2001: space odyssey novel and the john carter of mars series.

The Qur'an. I have a copy and I just haven't had time to read it

The LOTR books are great, but I do prefer the movies. The books have way too much elvish singing and camping. Too many points where nothing significant happens. The movies keep the important bits, and take out some of the more annoying things.

I too have always wanted to read The Illiad, but never have. I read The Odyssey, which I loved. I've heard The Illiad is a tad boring from a few people though. No less, I do want to give it a go sometime.

The Divine Comedy always sounded like something I'd love cause I love the concept. Granted, the politics of the time will make it frustrating at points I'm sure, but I can't wait to read these.

2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my favorite films, so I wouldn't want to read the book as it may hamper my enjoyment of that film. I tend to avoid books for movies that I greatly love.

We can also add The Communist Manifesto to my list of books to read. i'm sure it is not a book many will read for enjoyment, but while I've studied Marx's ideals a lot in college, I'd like to actually see what he is talking about for myself. Was always interested to.

That is one thing I am liking so far. The books are much more laid back. It feels more like a fun adventure. Instead of a heavy handed quest. I love the movies, but I enjoy the laid back feel of the books.

They're laid back, I give you that. I'm not against camping or singing, but there are times in the books where they do it too much before something happens.

The Hobbit kind of does that too, but I also loved The Hobbit.
