What's The Last Movie You Watched? VIII - Part 3

Whats really cool is that they were actually going for that. That mod 60's style, the cold war elements, and other things really contributed to that. It was set the same year I think Dr. No came out.

Vaughn's always said he wanted to do a Bond film. it would be really cool if he and Fassbender had a shot at a Bond film one day.

Yeah dr.no was released in 1962 which is when xfc is set I believe. Vaughn and Fassbender have the potential to be the new Terrence Young and Sean Connery.

[blackout]Yet Xavier wanted her to hide who he was, which is something I want them to touch upon in the sequels; Xavier's shallow side. [/blackout]

Maybe I should rewatch the movie again, but I'm sure his temperament was focused on her protection. Xavier knew mutants were better off if they concealed themselves from humanity. Had they been mutant loud and proud, they would have put themselves in danger from preliminary reactions.

What a glorious mess of a movie. I'd watch Paul Newman in anything, and he is great again in this, his character is a pretty much permanently drunk, mumbling nut who pretends he's a judge. It's an at times hilarious, episodic Wild West Tale/yarn that reminds me of the great Lucky Luke comics from Belgium. I need to get my hands on more late-career John Huston because obviously this guy just did not give a **** about conventions anymore. Large bits are completely muddled in all possible aspects of filmmaking; directing, screenwriting, editing and effects. As a whole it's utterly enjoyable though I guess because of that, rather than despite of that. :D

[BLACKOUT]Well, yeah, that is certainly one reason, but I was talking about the scenes in the other scenes where Xavier didn't like Mystique walking through the house in her actual form.[/BLACKOUT]

The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

The Proposition. What an uncompromisingly brutal and disturbing film. I don't think i've seen many films with this much dread and atmosphere suffocating it. Brilliant though. Amazing performances by pretty much everyone. John Hurt as a skinny, sun bleached and insane bounty hunter is hilarious.

Hallpass. 6/10. Completely okay, not a bad movie at all I was actually expecting much worse.

Despite my intense dislike of musicals Disney often manages to win me over and this one was no exception. Great voicework, funny, AMAZING animation. Seriously I can't get over how expressive the characters were. I love old school hand drawn cartoons as much as the next guy but it's incredible what they're doing with cg these days.

My bad, thought you were talking about the other stuff. I'm not sure if I'd call it shallow, but I can hear where you're coming from, then.
