What's The Last Movie You Watched? XIII - Part 11

Saw this the other night and was pretty impressed. There were a few overly cartoonish gags* like Haddock belching into the plane engine I could have done without but overall it was a damn cool adventure flick.

*this might be a standard part of the comic strips for all I know

Watched this last night, too.

This film contains probably some of the best mocap that I've seen in a movie of its kind. The expressions on everyone's faces were so real and lifelike. The furrowing of the brow, the slight twitches, etc.

And the eyes. My god, they officially got rid of the "dead-eye effect" in this film. Great job, animators!

The Terminator. Really an amazing film. A science fiction movie that didn't need CGI to get its point across. In particular I was impressed with the make up effects on Arnold, and the Terminator puppet used after the truck crash.

Friends With Kids-9/10 really great film, was expecting a non stop comedy but it really surprised me with some of its more real and dramatic moments. One of the only faults was Megan Fox, her acting took me out of the film, shes just not that good an actress to be in a movie like this.

My first Billy Wilder film. There isn't a single line of bad dialogue. It's screenwriting at its peak pretty much. Jack Lemmon plays a guy we can all sympathize and identify with. The movie is about 20 minutes too long but what comes before it just fantastic.

Boring as ****. Jesus, this looked like a poor man's Michael Bay film. There was no interest at all from the plot. I didn't know what was going on and I didn't care. And Angelina Jolie with dreads is disturbing.

Your first Wilder, I thought you've seen Sunset Boulevard or am I mistaken? That's my personal favorite Wilder film, and you're in for a treat. I haven't seen all of his filmography but the ones I've seen has a variety to them and all of them are more or less brilliant. Besides Sunset Boulevard, there's Double Indemity, Ace in the Hole, Stalag 17, Some Like It Hot and Witness for the Prosecution. Looking forward to seeing what you'll think about them.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Director's Cut. A buff Linda Hamilton and CGI that finally caught up with the story, along with Schwarzenegger playing a learning Terminator make this movie very enjoyable.

The Director's Cut has a few more scenes explaining how the Terminator goes from an emotionless protector, to a character that finally understands the human condition.

Funny facts about Terminator and Terminator 2, they both have supporting actors that appeared in Aliens. Lance Henriksen plays Detective Hal Vukovitch in the Terminator, and the Artificial Human Bishop in Aliens. Bill Paxton plays the blue haired punk leader that is first killed by the Terminator in the first movie and played Colonial Marine PFC William Hudson (Game over, man GAME OVER!) in Aliens. Jenette Goldstein played Colonel Marine Pvt Vasquez and John Connor's foster mother Janelle Voight (and T-1000 when impersonating her) in Terminator 2.

Machine Gun Preacher (8.5/10). This is a tough subject matter and based on someone real, so i thought it was done very well. Gerard gave a solid performance as well. Positively impressed with this one, i wasnt sure what to expect going into it.
