What's The Last Movie You Watched? XIV - - Part 15

It's not his writing. That was okay - although I'm sure I'd have to watch it a few more times to really get it.

It's everything else that sucked. The production values were low, the acting was cheesy, the cinematography was pedestrian, the score sounded cheap and poorly produced, etc.

The Mask (1994)

Watch The Elephant Man. That's a nice and easy one to start with for Lynch. Then go to Blue Velvet. Hell, watch some Twin Peaks. You can't go wrong with either of those.

If you do Eraserhead, which I still have to get through... then you can get through any Lynch film probably.

The Elephant Man is still on the "to view" list. "Blue Velvet" makes me wonder what kind of Batman film Lynch may have given us (probably one that starred Kyle MacLachlan as Batman/Bruce Wayne). I did rent Mulholland Drive but I fell asleep watching it and never got around to finishing it.

Strangely enough, of the David Lynch films I've seen, the only one I liked enough to purchase was his much maligned box office failing film adaptation of Frank Herbert's "Dune". I find his Dune to be... endearingly weird.

[REC]³ Génesis

After the amazing two [REC] films that became an instant classic horror films, this 3rd film completely dropped the ball. Not only it stopped being a found footage film after the first 20 mins, it doesn't really connect to the original [REC] films other than the basic quarantine premise and a little 10 sec easter egg from the previous films. Also it stopped being strictly a horror film and it started being a horror comedy similar to Evil Dead 2 or Dead Alive. It's disappointing but at the same time, as a stand alone film it isn't that bad. It's got that Dead Alive feeling which I was okay with. Oh...and the lead actress is just stunning. :hrt:
6/10

The Lord of the Rings trilogy (Extended versions) :hrt:

Child's Play 2

"G*****n women drivers!" :oldrazz:

Haywire: 3.5/5

An enjoyable flick that's a bit too disjointed and all over the place. Fassbender was wasted.

The Dark Knight Rises

Despite its length, I felt it was short. The plot was huge so paying close to dialogue is really important to not get lost. There were definitely plot holes which could be shown in DVD and unnecessary twists like Talia being child the of Ra's. Removing her from the script could have tighten the script and made the movie more flawless. Bane being the child of Ra's made perfect sense because he was born in a prison after all. The pacing was fine. TDK-esque. Visual effects are the best in all of Nolan's film.

9.0-9.25/10

Up.

I don't think I like it quite as much as most people do, but it's still very good.

^I will talk about meh, because I just watched Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The last thing I expected, considering it's Neveldine/Taylor, was to come out thinking it felt sort of half-assed and could have been so much wild, weird, and energetic. It's okay, it has its moments of almost-inspired lunacy - but I'd seen those in the trailer. Still, better than the first Ghost Rider.
