7/10

Not a great movie but a very funny and likable one I can see why it is getting good word of mouth.

The Savages

3/10

Absolutely awful. The three leads are bad to terrible, the dialogue is beyond awful and the movie is so uncool eventhough it tries to be. I absolutely hated this film with every fiber of my being.

Will somebody please make Taylor Kistch go away, he sucks at acting.

Batman Begins

I enjoy this movie more each time I see it. I haven't seen it in a long time. Strong start for the series.

Getting ready with TDK later in the week, before my IMAX screening of TDKR.

Solaris.

The original. Great concept, and a lot of keystones of later science fiction films, but I didn't like the direction at all. It was much more pointlessly pretentious than the other European films I've seen.

The Amazing Spiderman: 3.5/5

Weakest film I've seen this year. Obvious editing issues, plot holes (glaringly obvious scenes cut out), weak score, and a poor villain whose motivations come out of nowhere and are unconvincing.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are fantastic though. Really did love Andrew as Peter more than I liked Tobey. Martin Sheen was great as Uncle Ben. Some of the cinematography and visuals are well done (but honestly, the Lizard looked more like Killer Croc).

Main problem? Felt like a pointless quasi-remake of Sam Raimi's 10 years ago.

Superman vs the Elite

A bit better than usual, but the animation was a miss.

I saw it for the first time yesterday and your sentiments match my own. The cast did a great job, but I don't know why they reverted back to the high school version of Parker. The origin story had already been done and there are too many echoes of the Raimi movies for this to be really effective.

So couldn't they just do a non origin reboot with Garfield playing Peter as a college student? Oh, I forgot, origin films are the only kind of comic book films Hollywood knows how to make.
