The Happytime Murders
Former police partners Detective Connie Edwards (Melissa McCarthy) and Phil Philips, (voiced by Bill Barretta) now a private investigator investigate a series of puppet murders and non stop laughs and sight gags...uhmm are supposed to ensue....
PRAISE: The whole private investigator noir vibe the film has for awhile. Some really unique raunchy moments.Good voice work. Some laugh out loud moments..Some great puppetry, which really looked outstanding in some scenes.
Director Brian Henson and writer Todd Berger are able to weave in a strong message about discrimination.
PROBLEMS: An 82 minute film shouldnt feel like a 182 minute film !!
It runs out of steam halfway through.I like most of the actors in the movie, but there was some really lazy delivery of dialogue, and some absolutely painfully unfunny scenes.
I was expecting so much more and was so let down at how such a good build up gradually became a dull experience in it's second half.
Stick around during the credits.
