Gwen Stacy snaps her neck upon being dropped by the Green Goblin. If Harry had been dating Gwen and Spider-Man also kills his father and forces the control of OsCorp to be lost to the King Pin or himself to inherit Norman's very stressful life, I could really see why Harry would hate Spidey for it.

DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE MORBID

I could see this movie get as dark as Watchmen or The Dark Knight and go as far as see...

a villain like Carnage, Venom, Scorpion, or another simply use a web hang Gwen dead or unconcious hanging from a noose on a bridge, the Empire State Building, or somewhere else to really get Spidey's attention.

Seriously, did your mother not breast feed you or something?

it would be quite brave in one franchise if the very first scenes of the movie started off with the battle that leads to gwen stacey's death and the series lead to harry's death and norman's eventual return (in a more streamlined fashion).

There's nothing more different than the Joker hanging mobstes from the Mayor's office, Harvey Dent being scarred, Rorschach cut up criminals, or Dr. Manhattan disintegrating people with atomic energy. It would probably only get a PG-13 rating.

Ehh, it's the context you have to think about aswell. Watchmen was 18, so I'll ignore those examples.

The shot of the dead body in The Dark Knight was quick, and was hardly as disturbing as something like the hero's dead girlfriend hanging by the villain's hand as a means of getting his attention would be.

Clearly, you haven't read Spider-Man comic books.

I doubt 8wid is serious. He's probably just playing with us

Yes I have, but films don't have to be faithful to every interpretation of the story. They can take on a life of their own.

No I'm very serious, I'm just stating what I think could make a stronger story, but maybe it's too grown up for most audiences like Watchmen or 300 was.

It will be 7 years since the last on screen Goblin, and 15 since the Green Goblin in Spider-Man. (if it's in TASM 2)

They can use the Goblin again. They will. It's like having a Batman movie without The Joker being introduced at some point, you can do it, but it doesn't make too much sense.

The fact that they used the Goblin's in the previous trilogy means nothing. They had the origin in the previous trilogy, they're still doing it again.

Agreed.

But your reasoning as to why they won't use the Goblin again doesn't make sense... just because they used the Goblin/s in the previous trilogy? Like you said, there's no Goblin in this. If there is anything relating to the Goblin, it'll be a mention/cameo of Norman. Almost everything is being done differently, so there's no reason as to why they can't use him.

And as others have said, having a Spider-Man movie is like having a Batman movie without The Joker, it doesn't work. At one point or another, you have to introduce the hero's arch-nemesis.

And... I'm actually one of the people that said he shouldn't be in the second movie, he should be in the third.

Exactly.

And there's also the fact that Oscorp is in this movie, when some other nameless or made-up company could have been used.

Having Oscorp in this movie is a lot more than just a wink to the fans if you ask me.

Wow, you all have already written this in stone. Hi-Fiving each other and everything.

You seem to be quick to stamp on what people have said, but rarely offer reasoning behind what you say.

Why would they not use the Green Goblin? Offer a few more reasons than "They used him in the previous trilogy".

Think about it logically.

Why use Oscorp in this movie if they are not going introduce Norman, and develop his character in a later movie? As I've said, they could have easily made up another organization.

If that's the case, then I fear for the future of comic book films and my favorite super-hero. There is such thinngs as taking liberties and making your own ideas, but it's another when you just use Spider-Man in name only.

I am thinking about it logically.

Why use Curt Connors in two movies as Peter's teacher, and not develop his character in a later movie and turn him into The Lizard?

It's not like it hasn't happened before.

We jumped the gun then and we're doing it now. The director or writer has a choice to use any character he wants or any building within Spider-Man's world to tell a story, with no obligation to fully develop a certain character or story arc on film. Could this be what they're doing? Eventually introducing Norman Osborn, develop his character into the Green Goblin and give us the Gwen Stacy arc, absolutely? And I would love it!

Sure, Oscorp and Gwen seem like signs of things to come. But the fact remains, that we don't know this for sure, no one here can guarantee that this is going to happen, unless we get word the filmmakers or someone who has at least read the ASMII story from James Vanderbilt.

Don't write this in stone just yet, even though signs seem to point to it, or you could be setting yourselves up for an echoing disappointment.

My God, Kaw.

Why would they make a reboot if they are going to make the same stupid mistakes that were in Raimi's Spider-Man?

And nobody has set anything in stone. The only person that's going to be disappointed is you. I've already told you that I don't mind if Green Goblin isn't in Webb's Spider-Man.

And like Pac-Man said, Webb has talked about the Gwen Stacy saga. I think he plans on doing a certain storyline involving the GG and Gwen in one of the sequels.

So you're the bandwagon fan that thinks the Spider-Man universe has to be as dark as Batman or Watchmen?
