So you're the bandwagon fan that thinks the Spider-Man universe has to be as dark as Batman or Watchmen?

He suggested a gay Spider-Man.

Even the people that want Spider-Man to be dark don't seem that crazy.

Well something as dark and graphic as Watchmen and 300 could be similar to what I mean. That could definently include a story about homosexual relationship, even if it were a fantasy instilled by someone like Mysterio, it would still be interesting to see it done.

He probably is and it's damn annoying. I'm tired of this darkness bulls***.

Like I said a while back, some people have gotten lost in this era of comic book films (after 2007) and just don't understand who the character truly is.

There is more than one way to look at Spider-Man he has taken many different identites, struggles, and forms than just the nerdy boy from New York.

****ing A you don't stop with that ******** homosexual angle :o

And no...even how "gritty" Webb's version is/might be, Spider-Man does NOT need to be as dark as Watchmen or 300. It's like you know nothing about the character of Spider-Man.

Hey, I hate the bandwagon fans as much as you do, but I mean, to some fans like myself, we're fine with what Marc Webb is giving us, BUT, I wouldn't want it to go overly too dark to the point where it's more disturbing than anything. And as much as I love Watchmen, I do not want Spidey to even get close to how gruesome that film/book is.

And none of them is him being gay, so why bring that **** up?

But most of them retained who the character was.

I know the character of Spider-Man that doesn't mean that he can't have a different take used on him. Why is it invalid to have him be gay, at least for a time, when he fights villains a whole lot weirder than that everyday?

What? Lol.

He fights villains in a weirder way than being gay? I don't understand...

And it's invalid of him being gay just because he's never been turned by the writers or anything. He's the typical red-blooded American teen and now adult that people can relate to. Just because of what's "in" these days doesn't mean Peter should have a run with the homosexual lifestyle.

Plus...with the whole "being born this way" idea, wouldn't it just look like a dumb gimmick for Peter to have a stint being gay?

Because that's NOT who Peter Parker is. Taking an old man off the street, putting him in a Spider-Man costume is not a take on the character either. It's simple as that.

I'd even be happy with a darker than usual Spider-Man movie. But making a major hero like Spider-Man who has so many years of mythology... gay, is just EXTREMELY wrong. I don't have anything against gay people, but you don't go ****ing around with the core elements of a hero like Spider-Man, or any other hero that isn't already gay for that matter.

Being a typical red-blooded American teenager doesn't make him being gay any different and besides homosexuality is an average way that many people live for decades. Everyone should be able to relate to his struggles and a few more issues anyway.

There is no correlation between weird villains and sexual orientation.

No, but each has their own different way at looking at the world and Peter has to process the way they think in his own daily struggles. This would simply be another element for him to learn about while facing everything else too.

Then start following a character that's ACTUALLY gay

I give up trying to make sense of this vision you have in mind.

But Spider-Man was never gay. What if Batman was gay? He'd lose some of his "macho" appeal, right?

While that has nothing to do with Spidey, my point is, don't go messing around with who and what a hero has been for many years.

I'm going to be blunt, and sorry if this offends you but, I am extremely glad "fans" like you aren't the people who write the comics, or make the movies based on the comics.

Simply put: Peter Parker has had problems with getting the girl. Not the guy. Keep it that way.

You want a gay Spider-Man? Make your own fan comic.

I think like the Spartans they could be seen more manly for being homosexual. Spidey also dated Gwen Stacy for many years, but she died and thus like that characterizations change and so can Peter Parker.

Please stop. Please.

Peter Parker will never be gay. The day he is, I will stop reading comics, because that day I'll know that they have messed up a part of what makes Spider-Man, Spider-Man.

The damsel in distress. I'm not going to debate this further, it's cool that you think a gay Spider-Man is a good idea, but it really isn't. Introducing a new character? Hmm, okay.

But Peter Parker: Spider-Man? never.

Okay, 8wid, I have no problems with homosexuals, but taking a well known character and suddenly making him gay is not realistic. Now can we all get back on topic, please?

Agreed!

@Gwendolyn: Realistic? You mean it's not a good idea?

And sure, back on track.

Gwen should die at the hands of the Goblin on the bridge because Spider-Man realizes he's gay and has no interest in her.

In the second or third film (depending on if the third gets a sequel). Green Goblin tosses Gwen off the bridge. Spidey catches her with his web. He pulls her back up. Turns out, she's dead. Spidey rage. Almost kills Goblin. Goblin kills himself accidentally. Peter returns home. Peter cries in Mary Jane's arms. Cue credits. Cue sequel.
