Did any change their position on this since last year?

I keep going back and forth between Gwen dying in ASM2 and her dying in ASM3.

Doing the death for the second movie would be like the Empire Strikes Back with Parker finding redemption in the third movie. And it will give immediate weight to the broken promise to Captain Stacy.

If she dies it should happen in TASM3. Edit: And after that they should introduce MJ in TASM4 but but she would become Peter's girlfriend in TASM5.

Yeah this, but the chemistry between Garfield and Emma is almost too good to throw out in the second film if you ask me. I think I now want to see it in ASM3 if it has to happen.

Their relationship made movie so much better than it is.I think she must be in 2nd and 3rd. She dies at half of the 3rd movie..After Spider-man's redemption at the end of movie Peter meets with some read headed beauty. The End. If there will be more than 3 movies they can continue with MJ.

Basically they should keep her as much as possible for the sake of series. That's the most praised part of the movie.

She'll die in the 3rd movie. I feel MJ 'has' to be introduced in the sequel.
Having MJ introduced in 3rd movie with Gwen dying in the 3rd movie will make MJ seem like a gimmick

I think they should not introduce MJ in the same movie where Gwen dies. It wouldn't feel right if Peter gets another girlfriend just after Gwen dies.

The series can't end with Gwen's death. This is a TRILOGY.

Yeah I agree.

Maybe Gwen can die at the end of movie 2 then flash forward a few years in movie 3 to show Peter later in life where he meets MJ after years of battling the demon of his first love dying.

They should not introduce MJ period if they are going to follow the classic. After Gwen death, Peter had flings....he did not settle in another commitment tl much later in life. There needs to be a period of maybe 2-3 films after the demise of Gwen before MJ is introduce as a love interest. He should have flings with a different girl til MJ comes into his life. Maybe with Betty, Gloria, Liz, etc.

Actually, if they're following the classic comics, MJ was very present in Peter's life before Gwen's death. She was the party girl who didn't take life seriously, and Gwen's death smartened her up. So introducing her would not be straying from things.

In the hope that this nonsense will finally go away, I'm just flat-out asking this question: Somebody give me an actual (none of this 'you can't end a trilogy on a tragic note' BS) set of reasons why Gwen's death absolutely * HAS * to happen in the second movie and why the PTB would be motivated to create unnecessary work for themselves in order to fit Emma Stone into the third film since she's signed to a three-picture deal.

Have Gwen either die at the end of ASM2 or at the beginning of ASM3.

If she dies in the middle of ASM2 people would say that it's ripping off The Dark Knight.

Not talking about when to introduce her(MJ)...I'm taliking about when introducing her as a love interest. He had many flings before committing to another serious relationship. I know MJ was around doing the formidable years...not an issue or what I was saying.

I wonder if they'll throw her from a bridge. With how much flak they took for "redoing" SM1, I wonder if they'd be hesitant to have another climactic moment with Goblin throwing the love interest from a bridge. I think they might change it to just a skyscraper or some equivalent tall structure.

Not to mention there has already been a fight at a bridge in a Spidey movie.

There was already a fight on a bridge in TASM, too.

Bridges are good setpieces.

I'm for her dying at the end of TASM2, so that we have as much time as possible to get to know the new Mary Jane.

My guess is they won't go the classic route,
when Spider-Man tries to use his web to save her and snaps her neck.
They'll do something new.

There wasn't a fight on the bridge in TASM, just an encounter. The Lizard ran away.

Oh, I bet he'll snap her neck. They may not be as obvious about it as ASM#121 was, but it'll happen. Him throwing her out the window at the school was foreshadowing, IMO.

I stand by in movie 2. Ignoring the comparisons to TDK for a minute, I feel like if this series is only going to be three movies (or four movies with them filming the last two back-to-back, which seems to be the "in-thing" to do nowadways), they should not end the series on a downer. While I think Harry Osborn dying in Spider-Man 3 was actually one of the best and most human parts of that flawed, flawed movie, it made the ending much more bitter than sweet and sent Raimi's trilogy off on a downbeat note.

I think MJ should be introduced in TASM2 and for her to flirt with Peter a little. Gwen dies and he's closed-off the world in TASM3, but MJ helps him return to humanity essentially and they get together in what could be part 2 of a two-part finale in TASM4.

Of course, given that movie-Gwen is so much like comic MJ in TASM, I hope they still find a way to making her contrast differently from Gwen without making her as sad and mopey as she was in the Raimi films.

I disagree....Webb already gave the nod to it by throwing Gwen out the window and Spidey catches her with his web....setting up the question of whether or not she died because of the sudden inertia or was she already murdered. He caught her once with the web....although not from the height of the bridge, but still a nod, setting the wheels in motion.

Repeating the bridge sequence won't be nearly as badly received as the re-done origin.

The bridge sequence will last 12-15 minutes tops. The redone origin took over an hour.

I'm guessing it will happen in the next movie. In the third one it will be revealed that Gwen had a one night stand with Norman Osborn...

It should happen in he 2nd film but I dont need it to be exactly like in the books

I'll put it this way: I hope they stick with the comic version, but they don't have to. As long as it involves Gwen, the Goblin, a long fall, and a failed catch, I'll be happy with it. (And it should happen in the second movie.)
