There were 9 planets.
Hot Rod had flames, not Optimus Prime.
You had to watch your favorite shows when they aired or miss it for months until repeats.

Keep it going.

Quand j'etais un petit garcon...

- I was sure cars would be flying by the time I got my diver's license
- The Sci-Fi channel showed cartoons on Saturdays
- I was determined to grow up to be a member of the Bionic-6

You had to blow on video games to make them work.
If you wanted to do research, you had to use a card catalog.
Sneakers could be pumped to fit better.
The only way you could view free pr0n was through static.

Motion gaming was confined to slapping the ground.
If you wanted to call someone you had to ask for them by name.
If you didn't remember someone's number you had to get your address book.
You had to lick a stamp to send mail.

Ice cream trucks were doing great.
If you wanted to see a photo instantly you had to shake it.
Resumes were done by typewriter.
Comics and a gallon of gas was roughly $1.25.

Dinosaurs were descendants of reptiles.
The teenagers used one bottle of hairspray or mousse in less than a week.
Skateboarding was just becoming popular.
It was okay for guys to show their midriff.

Every once in a while you had to wind the film back in the tape.
Car windows had to be rolled down.
If you were lost without a map you had to stop and ask for directions.
If something didn't work you'd either hit or kick it.

It was okay to hit your kids.
3D was limited to red and blue.
If you wanted to silently communicate with your classmate you had to pass a note.
Karate was the most popular martial art.

The Titanic was still in one piece.
Cocaine was the popular drug.
AIDS had just been discovered.
Camcorders were as big as your head and ALWAYS had the date and time recorded.

If you wanted to record video the tape had to have the little square hole covered.
If you were out and about and needed to make a call you better have quarters on you.
Cigarettes were sold in vending machines.
Coke was sold in glass bottles.

A big value meal was the size of current medium meals.
Most families ate at the dinner table.

Channels actually went off the air late at night.
Saturdays actually meant something.
Almost every celebrity had a 1-900 number.

Saturday mornings actually had GOOD cartoons.
Kids played outside ALL DAMN DAY.
Building a fort took time, not minutes on Sim City.
The only way to get "first looks" at upcoming movies was to watch ET.
C.Lee was 76.
Dishes and trash were my only concern, bubble gum was my only vice, and comics were my only bills.
Girls had cooties.
Dirt jumped on me, within five second of being outside. . "I swear, Ma!!!"

Bone and Buttsavage were appropriate names for educators.

- George Bush Sr. was president
- You had to turn the cassette tape around and press fast-forward to rewind it.
- You couldn't be on the phone and have the internet on at the same time

- the toys at McDonalds were actually cool

Your whole street came over to see your new VCR with a wireless remote.
Getting mad when you went to watch a movie and whoever watched it last didn't rewind the tape.
MTV played nothing but music.
The only phone your family had was the large plastic one secured to the wall with an 8 foot cord.
"Personal" and "computer" had never been uttered together.
You could rent VHS movies from your local gas station for less than 50 cents.
Michael Jackson was black and could do no wrong.
Atari was considered high tech.
You could walk down the street late at night and your parents wouldn't worry.
The only time you heard the word "terrorist" was in the movies, and even then it was rare.
The 21st century seemed so far away and only the stuff of movies.
Going to Toys R Us felt like going to Disney World....in Heaven.

Nice. I think the people born between '76 and '83 will confuse the HELL out of the '89 and '94 generation.

Michael Jordan was the GOAT.
Pete Sampras was the GOAT.
The 49ers were a respectable franchise.

Music was pirated off the radio.

If your mobile phone didn't have 'snake', it wasn't cool.
All kids wore jelly sandals.
The word 'gaylord' was the best and funniest insult you could use.
We all understood Pig Latin.
The Spice Girls ruled!
Getting £20 for your birthday made you feel rich.
Doctors gave you lollies if you'd been a brave girl.

When I was a kid, porn was found in brothers dressers or in the attic or in the woods. We had to work for it, not just a few key strokes on a computer.

HA! I remember being sprawled on my bedroom floor and drawing for hours while recording songs I liked on the radio.

I remember by the time the tape started I was 10 seconds into the song :cmad:

Jessie Spano had a pill problem and Will just wanted to know why his dad didn't want him.
Return of the Jedi was the franchise low of Star Wars.

"X-Men", "Spider-Man", "Iron Man", "Incredible Hulk", and "Fantastic Four" cartoons, all the damn time.

Beavis and Butthead were considered edgy.

You were a dick if you didn't rewind your Blockbuster tapes.

The Chiefs won every year and then choked in the post-season (now we only get to see that every couple of years :( ).

Nothing else that came out for SNES matched the epicness of "Super Mario World", though a few games made noble efforts.

adding to the NES days...

There was no saving. EVER.
All your friends would come over for the weekend and you'd sit and play for all night in hopes of beating a game in one sitting.

There were saving in games like Metroid, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear. And I beat them all.

When I was a kid

I could by comics at the local convenience store
Saturday morning cartoons had saturday morning cartoons
When you were out people couldn't reach, that meant not having to deal with work after hours or on weekends.

Or by oneself playing for hours after school and hours on the weekend, with a looming thought of "I hope mom doesn't turn the console off." Because "pause" was our only form of "save."

"Dinner's ready!"
"Hold on. . . "
"Just 'pause it'."
"Awhhhhh. . . but Maaaa!"

There were 3 TV channels....but only 2 were broadcast in my area.
Cartoons were only shown on Saturday morning.
If you missed a movie at the theater, you got a chance to see it again around 2 years later when the network showed it....usually once.
Your first look at an image from a new upcoming movie was the trailer for it a few weeks before it was released.
Papers were your main source of news and they put out morning and evening editions.
Gas was 25 cents per gallon.
If you missed a Tv show, it was most likely never seen again until it went on syndication 10 years or so later.

HAHA, oh I remember. What sucked was that my dad was a stickler for keeping the electric bill down. There were many games that I never got to beat due to him finding the game left on and turning it off (full knowing why it was left on).
