When I was a kid...

When is was kid, Darth Vader was a terrifying image that instilled fear and dread in me, and not some whiny 19 year old who hates sand.

We actually talked to people and didn't hit them up on facebook.

Portable phones were the size of your head.
Computer screens were green at all times.
CD's were weirdly futuristic.
The Simpsons were controversial and inappropriate for children.
We had chalk boards in schools. Not even marker boards.

When I was a kid...

There was no "Save Progress" in most video games. Very few even had passwords. You plugged in the cartridge, and if you wanted to finish it, you had to do it the hard way.

Cartoon Network actually showed good cartoons. Now they're all on Boomerang.

When my pals and I were rounding up a game of Tag or Hide & Seek, deciding who was "It" consisted of the Horses In a Stable routine..where you put one foot among the others in a circle, and the last horse left after the others jumped out was It.

Excitement for the highly anticipated Super Mario Bros. 3 was the primary focus of schoolyard chats.

The first movie I ever saw in the theater was An American Tail.

The first live action movie I ever saw was Batman.

Toys for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were impossible to find.

The first game system I ever bought with mine own money was a Sega Genesis.

My favorite TV shows were DuckTales, Knight Rider, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I hoped with all hope that someday, maybe Spider-Man would a live action big screen movie.

Superhero movies were seemingly impossible in the mid to late 90's. The road to getting big name super heroes on screen seemed arduous. Thank you Blade for getting the ball rolling.

And Bart was considered the star of the show.

Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon were in it's primes
When there were fights it's over something actually important
Sitcoms were funny
Black Sitcoms were funnier :oldrazz:
McDonlads was the place to be
It was still a taboo to watch "adult cartoons"
Family Guy was starting out
The Simpsons were funny as hell
There was music for everybody
Hollywood actually gave a crap about movies
Everything wasnt so politically correct
If you had $100 you were somebody
There was barley any pants sagging

I miss those days :csad:

- when you wore a Batman t-shirt, people would sing 'nanananananananananabatman' and laugh at you for wearing it.(edit: actually, i am getting mixed up, this happened to me in my late twenties when i was wearing a batman baseball cap, but you know what i mean)

Getting a job was the furthest thing on your mind.

Beta machines were the way to watch movies at home.

Michael Jackson was still black.
McDonalds burgers came in non-biodegradable styrofoam containers.
To change the channel you had to get up and turn the knob.

When I was a kid:

The "format war" was between VHS and Beta.
The only waty to trade videogames, was with your friends.
He-Man, Transformers, and G.I. Joe ruled all.
You could only record a channel if you were watching it.
Arcades were cool and everywhere.
Be Kind, Rewind.

"Staying the night" meant the guys were sleeping over, and your father would beat that ass if you stayed up after he told you to go to bed. . . . not a lady friend stealing the blanket and complaining that she has a headache and just wants to cuddle.

Plastic halloween masks with those cheesy elastics bands that always &%^3 snapped were acceptable and considered cool.
