Which actors could you see as the next Bond?

I would rather see those actors in a 'Shaft' remake or a whole new character. It's not world shattering at all to cast a black actor in an always white role. That takes no work and it's clearly just doing it to do it because it's trying to be PC. True PC isn't utilizing an always white character and casting a black actor in it, it's creating a strong original black character that can stand up right alongside Bond with just as much weight behind it. Harder? Yes. But the end result would be a lot more powerful. Noting 'Shaft' because while it seems corny now - it was the Roger Moore Bond equivalent which had the exact same tone; for it's day I doubt it was ever perceived as being corny at all. We need an iconic that stand beside Bond and, yes, at times even rival Bond.

As per Bond, Michael Fassbender - just look to 'X-Men: First Class.'

Lol.

Hollywood gets cold feet creating new white male characters.

What do you think that means for women and non-white dides?

EON originally wanted to make Halle Berry's character Jinx the star of her own spin off series that they wanted to come out in alternating years when Bond wasn't released. Obviously Die Another Day was a flaming piece of ****, so that killed that idea, but it's an interesting course.

Perhaps they could try again, either following the femme fatale spin off idea or perhaps taking some of the lesser known or offscreen characters from Fleming's novels, like 008, 009 or 0011, introduce them in a Bond film and then set them up to have their own stories. MGM are hungry for more successful franchises, and Creed was their only other win besides Spectre last year. Perhaps they could have someone like Idris Elba (though he's a bit old) or David Oyelowo headline that. At the very least it's capitalise on the shared universe craze that's currently going on.

Now that's an idea. Put Felix Leiter as a secondary character in one of them too.

As I said if someone had guts.

It should be a lot easier to do after 'Black Panther' hits theaters.

As per women? I think Wonder Woman and Black Widow might help there.

Reason alone being - copy-cats, "those movies are doing great! How can we piggyback off that?"

But if they go with the traditional white Bond then as far as English actors go my picks would be:

Damian Lewis, James Norton, Aiden Turner, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Tom Hiddleston, Luke Goss, Jason Statham, or Michael Fassbender

Not to typecast, but Tom Hiddleston should be a villain instead of Bond himself. And another name I might throw out there, even though he's kinda young right now, is Nicholas Hoult. Maybe in about 10-15 years or so? ;)

I could see Theo James getting it...

A Black Actor.

The time is right.

LOL you say this as if making Bond a black guy is the natural evolution of the character and not a forced decision. Like James Bond was always destined to become black someday and the gods of the creative world were biding their time until humanity was ready. So ridiculous.

I hope we never get a black James Bond; not because I wish to suppress black actors but identity politics within historic, well established franchises and characters, is just a dumb idea.

Hell, I wasn't a fan of Craig being Bond at first because his hair was too light and that aesthetic was always part of Bond to me too.

People can get their representation morality in tons of other properties. Making Bond strictly a white dude is not oppressive.

Many people would FLIP their **** if a studio cast McConaughey as Shaft and rightfully so because Matthew McConaughey does not suitably embody a decades old character.

Dan Stevens or James Norton are my choices. The Broccoli Family tend not to go with big names for Bond which would rule out Damian Lewis, Hiddleston etc but also age is a factor, mid to late thirties is the ideal age if they want an actor to do a few Bond films.

I am pretty sure we will get diverse Bond. So whoever fits the diversity factor

Whenever race and Bond come up in any conversation, why do people always bring up Shaft?

:loco: :down

If DAN STEVENS will be the next 'Bond' I'll buy my ticket for the film RIGHT NOW!!!

Because the original 'Shaft' films played out opposite Roger Moore's Bond films. Are the 'Shaft' movies of that time period easily parodied? Of course. What era of Bond films do you think often gets parodied the most? - Roger Moore's. The two are complimentary at looking at that time period and approach to spy films. Anyone with knowledge on film history can tell you that those two franchises paint a similar depiction for the early 1970s approach to action spy/detective films. Are those movies considered corny today? Yes, but the same goes for both Shaft and Bond films of that time period - at that time both spy properties ran alongside each other and both were considered cool. Plus, it is sadly and oddly the only time a black spy/detective franchise ran alongside Bond's in a 'similar' way that we have Bourne and Hunt on the silver screen today.

Great post. Fact is, James Bond is white. Nothing personal, jut the way it is.

Why should he be black, why not indian, muslim, asian.. it just feels so fake forced and shallow.

Naw, that's not a good enough reason.

It would be cool if he where any of those. There's only one thing James Bond has to be and that's British, or at the very least, Australian, I guess.

Not a good enough reason to you, but that is the reason: film history and (sadly) only black spy/detective film franchise from the past... which as said is blatantly sad and really, seriously, severely odd.

Naw, still not a good enough reason for people to always bring up Shaft.

As said, to you, but that is why I and others do it... not to turn this into a politically correct thread: when typing the above and realizing how sad and pathetic that Shaft is the only real prior example - realized, that's only talking about black representation.... every other race and women - it's scary to know we're in 2016 and in film not a lot of progress has been made with some things. There should be more examples of famous non-white non-man spies/detectives and it's... just really, Shaft. There's a lot wrong with that lol.

Dan Stevens would be acceptable.

I also believe that Clive Standen could possibly be good as 007.

The whole idea of a black James Bond is ridiculous . . . this is a clearly defined character created by author Ian Fleming and if that character is changed significantly then he is just not Bond.
