Well I picked attitude and antics because I really dont care for the perma smile and I dont care if the skin is bleached. As long as he has green hair, white face, and a big smile(or cut) I could care less about how he gets those things.the whole reason the Joker is great is because of who he is not what he looks like. Its a bonus that he looks so awesome but we wouldnt be talking about him if he looked like he did but had no personality.

Gee, was I being THAT subtle? :oldrazz: *hint*

...

I'm only doing this once you know.

Damn! That thing has a tongue....Sorry. I still haven't memorized the entire library of smileys. Tongue sticking out equals sarcasm...got it.

Other than his looks and laughs Im more intrigued about the Joker evolution. Too bad he does not have his own movie.LOL!

No both of those traits are equally important to the Joker...however ask yourself this. I you dressed up like a clown in a purple suit with a jacket and tails and stood on the street would people refer to you as the Joker????
If you had crazt attitude and antics would people call you the Joker or just crazy????

If I was running around, with green hair, a white face, a purple suit, and a hideous, frightening smile, laughing like a maniac while I gunned down innocent civilians, I doubt people would be saying:

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAwait a second, look at his neck! Look under his chin closely, its....its flesh-coloured! HA, and we thought that was The Joker...."

but that wasnt the question...the question was what is the most important aspect of the Joker...his look or his antics and attitude...people go crazy all the time and kill a bunch of people...how many are refered to as Joker-like???

which is to say, there's no difference between the vicious scarred gangsters already in gotham and a joker who wears white makeup other than having to rob a few extra banks to afford the paint

It's the personality, not just the look that counts :)

Your question was, if someone dressed like The Joker, and acted like The Joker, would they be called The Joker, and I said yes they would.

As far as the question of the thread is concerned, both are of crucial importance. I've already said that I want The Joker to have bleached skin, and him NOT having bleached skin hurts the character. But when it comes down to it, it's The Joker's mentality that truly sets him apart. His total disregard for human life, and all that's sacred, his worldview that it's all nothing more than a sick joke. It's his shocking crimes: nearly impossible to predict, heinous acts that make sense to no one but The Joker himself. It's the idea that, beneath the mask of smiles and laughter lies a cold, cruel, heartless psychopath, the unspeakable horror that simmers just beneath the surface.

Anybody could fall into a vat of chemicals and get their skin bleached (in the world of comics at least), but few could plunge to the depths of depravity that The Joker is capable of, and laugh while doing it.

so if Bruce Wayne did everything he did as Batman without the Batsuit and gadgets is he still The Batman

The Joker still has his costume, so that's not a fair comparison. The more accurate comparison would be to ask if he is still Batman if his Batsuit is made of a different material, or has a different design, but is still recognisable as the Batsuit.

I am sure that their are many people on this planet that share the Joker's mentality....how many of them are refered to as Joker-like????
When the Zodiac killer was sending clues to the newspapers in SF was he mentioned as being Riddler-like??????

well I asked would anyone have issues withe Bruce wayne becoming a giant bat instead of putting on the suit and no one responded to it

Again, you're twisting your comparisons. The comparison to THAT is The Joker becoming a supernatural clown-goblin.

Again, a twisted, psychopathic supervillain who has a white face, green hair, and a hideous smile, who dresses in purple, who has a sick, twisted sense of humor, and takes glee in murder and bloodshed, who laughs at his crimes, and is the arch-nemesis of Batman, could yes, indeed, be classified as "Joker-like".

Ultimate Green Goblin was a real monster, not a guy in a Halloween costume.
It was actually cooler.

That is the joker for me. He has to have the whole package.

Yes, well said. If The Joker's skin isn't bleached, that to me is a Joker that's missing something important. But though its a flawed Joker, it's still The Joker if the other essentials are intact.
