I really don't see why people wouldn't pick the Amazing Spider-Man movies. I mean, just look at those gifs. Spider-Man in the old movies didn't act realistically at all. As everyone has said before, he basically "floated" across the city. There were no physics and you never felt the rush that makes you want to have your own webshooters. Everything seemed so fake if you thought about it, while most (if not all) of the swinging scenes in TASM films looked real. The cgi was much better and heck, they even got the ripple effects in Spider-Man's suit as gravity and the friction in the air takes a hold of the webslinger. Also, the cinematography for the swinging was much improved in TASM films. I mean, THEY FINALLY gave us scenes with POV shots of Spider-Man as if he had a camera strapped to his body. It was brilliant and innovative. Never saw ANY of that in the raimi films.

This man right here. Give him a cookie!

The Amazing Spider-Man for me by far. It was the first time I felt like I was actually there swinging with Spidey, it all looked so real. I loved the look of the swinging through NYC in the nighttime lighting, it was just amazing and the camera movements helped a lot with that.

TASM2 is a very close second, though I loved the Raimi ones as well, they don't come close to me.

Agreed.

How is this even up for debate? I mean I always wish I could go webslinging, and all the films do a great job at showing off Spidey doing his thing. But no film before TASM2 has ever given me such a rush and really made me say "Man, I wish I could do that!". TASM2, hands down.

Agreed with this as well.

This. How... can... you... top... this!? While SM1's final swing is iconic and deserves much of the praise it got, it never looked like he was attaching the webs to the buildings, and when he moved upwards it was like he was floating. No realism there.

But his... maaaan... this is the best swing scene in the entire franchise IMO. The crane scene comes at a close second for me. It deserves more recognition.

You're right.

Spider-Man 2, 3, and 1 in that order.

The Webb movies ones were on the whole forgettable.

I think the web slinging in the reboot films looked somewhat "better" at times, but none of them are memorable to me. I know some people complained about the physics of how Spider-Man moved in the Raimi films, but... does that matter? It always looked fine to me and I was never thinking about the so-called "realism."

Yeah it kinda does matter to be honest

Spiderman doesn't float, he swings

"Not more memorable" what aspect of sm's swinging vs ASM's makes it any more memorable?

Well of course it matters to an extent, but the physics were never so bad that it looked like he was floating.

The swinging scenes in the Raimi films are much more iconic. The final swings from SM1 and SM2 alone are much more memorable than any of the swinging scenes in the Webb movies.

Wait, Raimi didn't used SFX? What a shock! That's why they look so fake by now :funny: Besides SM1's ending, they weren't memorable and got extremely repetitive, swing from point A to point B with Danny's score. No variations and without the use of physics that shows the effort that Spider-Man is having to swing around.

I had to decide between Spider-Man 2 and TASM1. While I don't like TASM1 as a film, there were a lot of web-slinging moments that looked really nice (especially with the final webslinging, aside from the dumb "shoot web in the audiences' faces before the credits, because 3D!" moment).

I'm going to give my vote to Spider-Man 2, because it incorporated the webslinging in an action sequence really well (during the famous train fight against Doc Ock). Most of the webslinging that Spidey does in all of the movies is when he's traveling somewhere. Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and TASM2 were the only ones that really incorporated them into full-on action scenes. Spider-Man 2 easily did it best, in my opinion (though the subway fight with Sandman in Spider-Man 3 was pretty darn cool, but Spidey 3 will always be not nearly as good as its predecessors). I can't even consider voting for TASM2, because it looked like a video game.

Spider-Man 1 had my all-time favorite webslinging moment though: The final swing. The feeling that scene gave me when I saw the film for the first time is unmatched. It gave me chills. The final line of that movie, plus Danny Elfman's score probably helped out that scene into being epic, though.

This thread is even more prof that people hate on asm1 and 2 just because it is not raimi and tobey. Its going to be scary to see how much un fair cretisims the next batman movies get just because it is not Noal and beil.

That blows any thing form sm 1-3 and asm1 out of the water other then the web swining when sm gets back to dock ock after being not to the ground form the train fight and there are like 5 more sinces like this that also blow any thing form sm 1-3 and asm1 out of the water.

Pretty much, and it's just sad really.

Wow..... I honestly thought that even the people who hated the Webb films would vote for them on this one. I don't get it, how is SM-2 winning?

Yeah I am starting to think that even if asm3 where to be made and it had like the best CGI ever and an amazing story with great pacing and a great villain and soundtrack that they movie would still only score like a 78 or RT just because it I not raimi and tobey. I am starting to think that any CBM franchise if they end a franchise that is consider great like sm 1-3 where that they should want like 10 years to start over. I think if asm1 and 2 came out with out there being a sm movie yet or if they came out longer after sm3 that the reception would be night and day better.

People that say asm2 looks like a video game. If asm2 looks like a video game then sm 1 look like an SNES game lol. The great thing about the spidy back thing in sm2 is the part when the camera pulls back into dock ocks class but even that part when it dose that looks a little dated now.

Thanks for explaining your point without going into a bashfest and acually having a point and in general, being balanced.

Dragged me out of the twilight zone a bit.

I don't think any of the swinging scenes in the Webb films can top the "SPIDEY'S BACK" moment in Spider-Man 2. Just my opinion though.

That is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The whole bit. From the bursting through the Bugle newspaper, to the swinging sequence, to it zooming out of Doc Ock's glasses.

Epic.

So no one thinks the ripple effect in Spider-Mans suit as he's free-falling was cool?? How was that not memorable?? It doesn't look like a video game at all. In fact, the Raimi films looked more like a video game, like Spider-Man swinging was initially made for a cutscene of a low-budget modern game, and was just copied and pasted into a film. Everything about the TASM films web-slinging is better. EVERYTHING. Well, Raimi does have the advantage of Danny's score, but everything else just pales in comparison to TASM 1 and 2. All of the swinging scenes in the raimi films looked like they came from a video game.
TASM films' swinging scenes were all done brilliantly and the CGI was done brilliantly, Spider-Man actually looked real. Plus he does a ton more acrobatics in the ASM films, and it justs totally works with his lean body and build. If you think the stuff from the Webb films looks like a video game, then the stuff from Raimi's films looks like an arcade game.

It appears some people in this thread are mighty heated at others' opinions.

For me:

1. Spider-man 2
2. The Amazing Spider-man
3. The Amazing Spider-man 2
4. Spider-man
5. Spider-man 3

This shot along with the gruff noise that Spider-Man makes in reaction to the quick change of direction as he's flung into the air and spins like that is one of the best swinging moments of all time. As well as the score playing in the back, it gave you an intense feeling. Never saw ANY of this in the raimi films. The raimi films dont give you enough to look at while swinging, so they're really boring. All spidey does is spin a web then spin a web and then spin a web. NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.

Without the original Spider-Man films we wouldn't have the little fixes and touches in TASM's web swinging. I'll acknowledge that the CGI was better in TASM series but I never got the feels during the modern films web swinging scenes that I got from the original films. My jaw still drops when I watch that last web swinging scene in Spider-Man.

:lmao:

SNES has better visuals than SM1 :lmao:

I mean, how can you NOT enjoy the swinging scenes in the TASM films?? I enjoy the swinging scenes of both series, because I get to see my favorite hero do the thing he does best and looks best doing. I just feel the TASM films do a better job of that because i find them more entertaining. I at least give credit where it's due.
This is all based on the speculation of the incentive behind the poll results, I'm just saying my thoughts of course.
