Which Green Lantern should be used? - Part 2

I'm not too familiar with the GL's but would it be possible to have Hal, John, Kyle, and Guy in the new film? Surely there's some good stories that include all of them.
Yeah totally. They don't need to provide extensive explanations of all their origins.

It may be smart to only bring in Hal, John and Guy initially. Kyle's introduction should be something to build up to.

Aaron Paul as Hal?

You trying to rustle up my jimmies Ror?

It's actually perfect. He's the guy that can nail the likable arrogance with a troubled past beneath the surface. He also looks the part too.

I'd be much more intested in that than a solo GL film.

I don't see Aaron Paul as Hal at all. He has a vulnerability and pensiveness that stand in pretty stark contrast to Hal's cocksure nature. Any arrogance I've seen from Paul (in Breaking Bad and Smashed), has come from a place of apathy or nihilism. He simply didn't give a damn. Hal's arrogance seems the precise opposite to me: it comes from having very strong convictions, from being so sure of the right thing.

Hal is a well rounded character, he too shows vulnerability and pensiveness once you get past his arrogant exterior.

Aaron Paul makes perfect sense. He's a great actor and Hal is well within his range and it would be very well suited to his abilities.

There are rumors on 4chan that Hal is being used in the solo and in the JL movie. John apparently joins Hal in the solo movie.

According to the source, Chris Pine, Zac Effron, Jake Gyllenhall, Jared Leto, and Jack Huston are being considered for Hal.

There's a 99% chance it's bulls***, but still... I wouldn't mind any of those names for Hal Jordan.

I reckon Hal will be the green latern up until the reboot. I think the reboot will be john stewart. I think WB are going to do alot of crossovers with their characters.

My choice, Taylor Kitsch

I won't lie. When I read Secret Origins, I wanted to throw it in the trash. First Hal book I picked up. He is an unlikable *****e in the first chapter. Grant it, it's different but when you have heroes like Bats or Spidey who would give anything for 5 minutes with their parents or Uncle, you have Hal leave his family and just be a totally dick to them. You then have Hal be a dick to the military. He was just an unlikable *****e in the first chapter of it.

My favorite Hal stuff is New Frontier.

Bats and Spidey are in very different circumstances, not every person has a 100% affectionate relationship with their family. I think that's ok to be reflected in fiction. I did mention they should just get rid of the family drama anyway because its a waste of time. Everything after Abin Sur's crash is pretty great

I honestly think they're missing the point a bit if they go with a solo Green Lantern movie. Especially after JUSTICE LEAGUE.

They need to really bring more of the Corps and its space adventures to the forefront in a GL film. That was the number one complaint about the previous movie.

Not Jake. He's cool, but not for Hal. He looks like he would be better as a marvel character.

I'm more than down for this. Never liked Hal. Only aspect of his character I DID like was his relationship with Sinestro. I'd even be cool if they had the new movie in the same continuity as the Ryan Reynolds one, and the film starts with Hal and John working together, then Sinestro kills Hal and we have a John/Sinestro rivalry established out of it.
I'd support the hell out of this. They won't include the 1st film tho because MOS is supposed to be "1st contact" with aliens, unless they find a really cool way to explain things

They should keep the Training Day idea since the Reynold's version never used it.

Reboot it in the wake of the BvS idea and have the GL Corps think the Earth sector is becoming too unstable and needs two GLs. One Earthbound, one space bound. Then have Hal and John train under Sinestro and see him turning their group of recruits into something they disagree with.

Flashback to Hal getting the ring, but ditch the Geoff John's daddy-pain stuff for now.

Boom.

Too many fanboys here will lose their crap if they don't have Hal yet the general audience is more familiar with John. The concept can accommodate both.

I would definitely rather a Green Lantern Corps movie as the next solo GL movie. Stakes are going to be too high considering every other DC movie starting with BvS (Shazam, Suicide Squad, Justice League) will be an ensemble movie. They need consistency if they gain momentum.

I like this. These sort of downstream consequences are what make shared universes fun. The events of MOS and BvS are the perfect impetus to get the Corps at large involved.

This leads me to believe Hal will be the GL in the reboot

Oh yeah I saw those rumors earlier. True or not, I actually wouldn't mind one of these choices for Hal now thinking about it.

If Justice League Parts 1 and 2 take place on Earth, then the Green Lantern solo movie really needs to take place entirely in space away from Earth and set up Sinestro's fall. Basically be what Reynolds' Green Lantern 2 should have been if the first one hadn't bombed.

Yeah, I would like a GL Corps movie, but I still want to see Hal and Sinestro build up their relationship.

Yeah that's what I've been saying. Seeing their dynamic explored is the primary appeal of a live action GL series for me. I've seen quite a few suggestions that the GL series shouldn't focus on Sinestro or a Blackest Night storyline, but i can't get into that. A Blackest Night inspired GL Corps movie series with a focus on Hal and Sinestro for the first movie is ideal.

I wouldn't have much of a problem with any of those actors. If I had to narrow it down I'd go with Jack Hutson or Zac Efron.

You said that you didn't want Hal Jordan/Green Lantern to be the next CW series because you don't want the trinity of the CW universe to be three white guys. To me, that seems like you think that another white superhero is a bad thing. Maybe i misunderstood though.

Yes, you misunderstood the statement to apply to something other than the subject we were talking about. But you didn't misunderstand it then, because you had zero problem with the mention of the Trinity's diversity. So since the post, you developed a misunderstanding of it. And then lectured me about your misunderstanding, because you love me, I assume.

Personally I see no problem with the three main characters of that universe being 3 white dudes. Ollie, Barry and Hal are three of the best characters in comics period, and we're confirmed to be getting a Supergirl show that might be in continuity. Not to mention how well received the female characters have been on Arrow. On The Flash and Arrow, the main characters are white, but there is a lot of diversity on those shows anyways. I feel like everyone is pretty well represented on those shows. i would expect the same from a GL tv show.

That's a fine opinion, I suppose. For me, large universes where a bunch of relatively unimportant women and POCs are considered a good representation of society just seems so unrealistic.

Hal Jordan will be used.Team needs a blondie

Hal Jordan's blonde?

And seriously... as long as Geoff Johns has any creative pull whatsoever, how in the world could it possibly be anyone but Hal Jordan?

Hal and John teaming in Green Lantern as a film could be *very* interesting. Buddy space cops.
