MSNBC interview...

Melissa Harris Perry was very polite in that interview. I've noticed MSNBC seems to be a bit nicer about this than CNN and Fox News.

And what? Scientifically speaking there is no such thing as a "race". Many people who say they are "white" if you do a DNA test actually have "black" ancestors.

You're not saying anything new that I or the various people discussing Dolezal have addressed. Dolezal is White, not Black. Simple as that.

Things that stood out to me:

Her hypocritical stance by criticizing Iggy Azalia for cultural appropriation.

The part where she talks about how "being celebrated as a black woman, and loving how it feels, by the students that I mentor". Does make it seems like she was using this for her own personal gain.

Well, they are the ones interviewing her. Like how the Today Show interview was pretty soft. All owned by NBCUniversal. :woot:

Matt Lauer seemed rather stern in his interview with her. Melissa Harris Petty seemed very laid back.

I actually don't believe that :)
But i'm speaking from the perspective of modern society where you can't judge anyone...if they believe in their heart something then it's TRUTH to them and we have to support that.

Nope.

She deceived people for years, vilified white people, made up fake hate crimes. Different than some gay couple getting married who hasn't done anything to anyone.

How did her lie hurt anyone? What did she do to someone? How was anyone affected by it?

She lied to and deceived everyone she worked with
She made incredibly hypocritical comments publicly shaming other people who were doing less extreme examples of what she was doing. She instilled racist views in her brother.

Did anyone else hear that now she's getting a reality show?

She should seriously reconsider if she is doing a reality show. I don't think it would be good for her. Her family already seems highly dysfunctional and that will only get exacerbated with the spotlight that a reality show brings.

Tbf...if you did a DNA test on Caitlyn, it would say male.

I agree race is a societal construct but there are biological differences in races just like there are biological differences between male and female. If we as a society allow blurred lines between genders then this case is no different. They are both psychological disorders dealing with their physical identity caused by chemical imbalances in their body and brain. No one can stomp on people identifying and wanting to be another race. That's intolerance. Her methods were shady to achieve her goal but what does that matter to her struggle? We either accept transrace or we oppress them. That's where hypocrisy comes into play. This is our society now. You can't keep moving the line on issues.

No one's denying she "lied" and deceived, the problem is the reason behind it is a pretty just reason. She had embraced who she was...that's not publicly shaming, she was trying too encourage others too do similar too what she did.

I didn't read the comments about how she instilled racist views in her brother but I'm sure there's a logical reason, she doesn't seem crazy :/

So I should just start calling myself Chinese and lecturing the rest of you about the hardships of my people, then?

If you feel that your chinese - and have a genuine affinity too it, and change the way your appearance is too match the culture, and do the research into what the hardships are, instead of just making it out of the top of your head.

Then go for it, just because you don't genuinely feel that way, doesn't mean someone else's life experiences dictate otherwise.

If I were Chinese I wouldn't have problem with it if you had extensive experience with Chinese people and culture and you seemed sincere.

I have a strange sensation to go watch the movie Avatar...

There's a difference being having an affinity for Chinese culture and being Chinese though.
