The Force Awakens Who are Rey's parents (speculation)

Has the 'Jyn from Rogue One might be rey's mom' theory come up yet?

It's come up but Magnar already linked to Pablo flat out saying "No" to her being her mother. So Jyn is not her mother.

^ yes, I've seen some people mention it.

Yeah but Pablo said she's not. So that's that.

^ I didn't think they would make Jyn Rey's mom anyways.

You know sometimes I think he's lying now if it was Kathleen, Rian, or even JJ that said it then I would believe it. :yay:

Well in my family my grandfather was a great artist and my father is, and I am.

If you do say so yourself. :)

However, while such talents and traits can pass from parent to child, likewise they also don't.

And people also sometimes just happen to cross paths with others who share there skills with out being related.

All your siblings and cousins are will not artistic, nor are you related to all other people who are artistic.

well, Mask&Cape, we will just have to agree to disagree on this subject.

I don't agree to that :oldrazz::oldrazz:

we will find out the truth in time, whatever that may be. ;)

That we will ;)

Pablo, who doesn't know how the Starkiller Base works, Pablo? Oh, I totally believe him. :o

We're talking about movie logic here though

Yes, but as I've pointed out above how Rey is not related to the Skywalker as stated in the film, then those traits are coincidental (in-universe) and a trick (in the film itself) have us thinking she is related.

J. J. Abrams: The thing about Star Wars is everyone who has seen these movies thinks, you know, “I am your father.” It’s one of the first things you think about. And, “There is another.” And moments like that. But when you think about those big moments and then you stop and go, oh, neither of those things were in Star Wars. You know, Star Wars didn’t say that Luke was the son of Vader. Star Wars didn’t say that Leia was the sister of Luke. You didn’t really understand what these references were. The Empire, dark times, Clone Wars. There are these things that are discussed that don’t get explained. It was Episode IV. You know, George, among the unbelievable list of brilliant things he did, dropped you into a story and respected you and said, “You will infer everything necessary to understand exactly what you need to know.” And that’s what we tried to do with this. We knew we were going to have a moment when Snoke was going to say to Ren, “Your dad’s in the picture.” Can this movie actually also hold, you know, “And Rey is this and Finn is that and this is where Poe…”? It was one of those things, and again it speaks to your restraint...Look, this is the first, this is an opportunity of a lifetime to write a movie that is the first of a series, and there is a story to be told. And it will be. But this movie, it felt like “the droid is in the hands of your father, Han Solo” was probably the one real revelatory familial piece we could get away with. (December 22, 2015)

J. J. Abrams: "I know quite a bit [about Rey's lineage]." "Obviously it’s not for me to talk about in this moment because this is Rian’s story to continue now. The last thing I’m going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about. I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy that he showed me." (January 12, 2016)

J. J. Abrams: "Uh... Rey's parents are... uh.. not in Episode VII. Um, so I can't possibly - in this moment - uh tell you who they are. But I will say... that it is uh - this is all I'll say - it is something that Rey thinks about, too." (April 15, 2016)

Mag, didn't we have rumors early on that they were looking for a female Kenobi?

Mag, didn't we have rumors early on that they were looking for a female Kenobi?

THR said:
Arndt is said to have focused on the offspring of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), with the original trilogy's heroes taking on supporting roles. Abrams, however, wanted Episode VII to focus on the classic trio of characters, so audiences could have one more chance to enjoy them before a fitting send-off. The new characters, the offspring, will now be in supporting roles, according to these sources, and take center stage in Episode VIII and IX. Some characters have disappeared from the Arndt script and new ones are being added.

The latest bit to surface this week is that Abrams and Lucasfilm are now searching for a twentysomething female actress who is either of mixed race or black. The rumor is that Obi-Wan Kenobi had a daughter or granddaughter.

JJ is such a liar. :funny:

I mean, if it doesn't matter, if it isn't relevant, why not tell us who they are?

Except he's not.

People will believe whatever they want to believe (sadly), but it was rather quite obvious that Rey wasn't a Solo or a Skywalker if you'd actually been paying attention to everything that we already knew about her from TFA itself, the supplemental material accompanying it, and previous "word of god" creator statements from J.J. and others.

Except if you have been following this film, know what was cut from the film and realize they still won't tell us who her parents are, you know she is most definitely of Skywalker blood. It is exactly why Magnar doesn't believe any of this.

You mean Rey was the only vision inside of a vision of Skywalkers, that wasn't a Skywalker? Yep, makes sense. The Skywalker lightsaber called to her? Her safe place is the place Luke is hiding? And you know what else? Jon Snow is dead people. :lmao:

Don't worry though man. I am use to this from you. Like with Laurel and the Fantastic Four.

Am I the only one sick of Rey might be a descendent of Kenobi or his granddaughter theory?

First off, unless Obi-Wan and Satine got it on and had a lovechild during the "Clone Wars", this is the only way he would have a child and thus a grandchild afterward, but Obi-Wan is so committed to the Jedi Order, the code, and celibacy that it wouldn't make a ****load of sense.

Now, unless Obi-Wan got involved with a woman on Tattooine, I still don't see this being the case with the fear of endangering himself and her, and thus it would endanger his duty to watch over Luke and eventually train him when the time came. Having a child to look after, be a father to, or simply neglected for his mission does not sound like Obi-Wan Kenobi at all.

I feel Rey is still Luke's daughter or she is his former pupil and her parents were strong in the Force and Jedi. Heck, for all we know the Jedi that we see slaughtered by the Knights of Ren in her flashback might be one of the dead.

However, these movies have been about the legacy of the Skywalker family. The rise, fall, and redemption. If Rey is not a Skywalker then the legacy depends upon Ben Solo. His rise, fall, and redemption, but with the OT it was a Skywalker saving a Skywalker; son saving a father and bringing him back to the Light.

In the Prequels, it was Obi-Wan and Anakin (who considered themselves to be brothers) who older brother tried to save the younger but failed. So, if Rey is not 'family' then do we view this as like the Prequels that Ben and Rey could be considered blood relatives--- brother and sister or cousins, but are actually not related at all but the person who could be considered his sibling or cousin ends up doing the opposite of what Obi-Wan could with Anakin and saves Ben? Or will Ben be so far gone in the Darkside that Rey will have to do like Jaina did with Jacen in the EU and kill him to bring balance to the Force?

J.J. is now trying to "walk back" what he said, but he really can't... especially since what he said is entirely consistent with what's actually presented in the film itself.

So, how Laurel DigificWriter? She going to be up and at them for the next episode of Arrow? How about those clearly false FF rumors about it being a disaster of a production? :woot:
