who dead in movie? (warning SPOILER)

Wouldn't anyone who grew up with GI Joe in the 60's have said the same thing about the 80's reboot?

I'll go out on a limb and say No. G.I. Joe's 80's was very true to the original multi-armed forces idea and the writers (Larry Hama & Denny O'Neil) were also crazy about ranks, specialties, and faithfulness to real U.S. military details....even MORESO than the original. (if only with slightly futuristic vehicles).

G.I. 80's was a "smartening up" of the classic G.I. Joe rather than a dumbing down. (I'm talking about the comic book and toy bio cards here). I mean, how genius was it to make the guy that supplies the arms to the bad guys a central part of the story??? Don't even get me started on the writers premonition that stateless large "terrorist" organizations would be the impending threat. Joe Colton would be proud.

In other words, Cobra Commander didn't eat souls. :cwink: :woot:

In other words, the new Megatron doesn't turn into a gun.

But, he does eat robot souls and is chasing a magical cube. Love or not love the movie, that is IMO a dumbing down regardless.... fun filled ride or not.

And how is this dumbing down? It happened with Beast Wars, when their spark was taken, it died, so what if Megatron eats it, it doesn't bother me.

All of this could be spoilers to some people, so, yah...

Humans who die:
Donnely - killed by Skorponok
Figueroa - killed during the onslaught with Skorponok

Autobots who die:
Jazz - killed by Megatron

Decepticons who die:
Megatron - "dies" by Sam and the Allspark
Blackout - killed by Lennox
Barricade - killed by Optimus Prime
Brawl - killed by Bumblebee
Bonecrusher - killed by Optimus Prime
Skorponok - gets his tail shot off, unknown if he died
Frenzy - died twice; once by Mikaela with a saw, the next time decapitated by his own disc

Hopefully all of this doesn't change from the book. But the script could've changed, since in the book, the tank Decepticon was named Devastator and is now Brawl in the movie.

It's a dumbing down because it's the crux of the story. While the original premise was a lot smarter and thought-provoking. (see the FAQ). Furthermore, I'd be OK with it if this movie was called Beast Wars, told the Beast Wars story, and was faithful to the underlying premises of that story. That'd be A-OK.

I'm guessing...but, are you a hardcore, hardcore fan of Transformers?

Not at all. Other than having the original Marvel run of the comics from when I was kid. I don't even own the cartoon dvd's (although a cpl of my friends do... but I wouldn't classify them as hardcore either).
