Who do you collectively regard as Marvel's 4 best superheroes and why ?

I've always liked this exchange between Batman and Captain America.

Bats tries to dis Ben. Cap won't hear it.

Captain America
The Thing
Spider-man
Wolverine

Still the best 4 Man team EVAH!

BTW Wizard's latest cover pretty much has the best 6 Man team EVAH!

captain america
captain britain ('specially when he was guardian of the multiverse!)
Thor
Mr Fantastic

Right this second? I'd say Hank Pym, the Thing, Thor, and Bucky. They may second-guess themselves sometimes and they may have horrible s*** happen to them, but they don't whine about it or indulge in too much infighting or anything; they get out there and do the job.

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Spider-Man

And if there was to be a fifth it would be Cyclops, no doubt about it.

Spider-man (pre CW and OMD/BND)
Captain America (Steve Rogers)
Thor
DareDevil

These four always fight the good fight and do so when they are at the very end of there wits. They are they quitessential hero's in the Marvel world.

Thor
Captain America (original)
Reed Richards
Thing

Why?...these are very honorable people, who are true to themselves, (when written well of course!) and have good hearts and do the right thing, not to mention good under pressure.

Plus, who could beat these FOUR in a battle??

note: I would easily add Spider-Man, if it is the pre OMD/BND version of him, or even pre-Civil War Unmasking Version.

Otherwise, currently other end of the spectrum, for worst, I'd put:

Spider-Man
Tony Stark
Sentry

For questionable ethics, tactics, integrity and possible mental issues....:hehe:

I say I call your Galactus and raise you a BEYONDER!

Although we may be missing the OP's question. He didnt ask us to form the best team of heroes. He asked who were the best 4 superheroes.

I call your Beyonder and raise you a Tribunal

Okay more detail this time...
1) Spider-Man: he has a compelling backstory, and motivation, and cool powers, but the best thing about Spider-Man is his mind. When written well he's incredibly cleaver and resourceful, often outmaneuvering and out thinking character who are more powerful and more intelligent than he is.
2) Captain America (original) because he stands for the ideals that America reaches for, he's human despite it all.
3) Iron-Man: When written well he represents the promise of technology. He uses that technology in a direct and efficient way. Unlike some supergenius character. While not quite on the level of Peter Parker, when it comes to thinking on the fly, but he can use his IQ for something more than Brute force thinking, unlike certain other characters I could mention.
4) She Hulk: Come for the ****, stay for the humor. Yes she big and sexy, but she's also a fun character, on the same level with Spider-Man for humor and close for cleaver fighting.. This of course is when she's not being written as a doormat for Rulk to wipe his feet on.

It's great to see the Hank Pym mention. He so represents Marvel. Brilliant yet angst driven (and sometimes his own worst enemy.)

I'll go with that and say...

Hank Pym - Now that he has his stuff together and is reaching his potential as the new Wasp. Still troubled but founding Avenger and great character.

Iron Man- Mix complex with fascinating and add flat out cool and you get Tony Stark/Iron Man. He's THE best literary character on the planet at this moment.

Captain America - The man out of time angle mixed with old school values has always made Cap more than your average hero. The embodiment of the true American spirit doesn't hurt either.

Spider-Man - Even though I stopped reading Amazing Spider-Man, the character itself is the foundation of Marvel and always will be. It works for a reason. Can't wait for the next movie.

Namor - He was one of the first and he showed us that a the grey line between hero and villain.

Spidey - I mean damn its spiderman

Captain America - A symbol of hope and the true American ideal.

Professor X - He is a comic represntation of Dr. King and his message of co-existance is one we can all strive for.
