Who do you think is the most under-rated chracter in the MU?

Varient, im sorry Squireel Girl is not under rated. Shes a joke character and she works great in that capacity, but shes not underrated.

if you think thats cool you should pick up the essential iron fist... its a great compilation and its totally overlooked. the dude fights iron man, captain america, daughters of the dragon, teams up with spiderman, teams up with luke cage for 3 issues, teams up with the x-men and fights sabertooth all in ONE essential. its written by chris claremont and illustrated by john byrne, how can you lose?

I think the Essential books are a great idea, but I just have a hard time looking at black and white pictures.

In my opinion cannonball is one of marvel's most under-rated characters. This story was a great showcase of his character, but since then marvel has used him as the token wet behind the ears new guy. I mean, he's got great history, been trained by xavier, magneto, and cable. he's got a pretty cool mutant power and has connections to alot of characters. He deserves of more of a decent push.

Nimrod and Apocalypse are extremely underated. If these two were written correctly the AOA would of arrived centuries ago, and the mutant population would be alot thinner.
I've been saying this for years! These guys, if written properly should be Avengers villians! Give Sinister an upgrade and become THE X villian.

ew ultron/mrfantastic/ironman rip off...dont like him
Yeah.
I think Steve Ditko was great with fantasy but lousy with Sci-Fi.

I think Colossus has got to be one of the most underrated characters in the MU. He has a great (but tragic) backstory, awesome power and always just seems to be......there. If written right, he could be amazing.

Heres a few that I think are underrated and have yet to make a significant impact on the Marvel U.

Union Jack - He's like the Brittish Captain America and has one of the coolest costumes to boot!

Paladin - If Harrison Ford was a superhero he'd be Paladin.

Prowler - Hobie is so under utilized it's not funny, this guy has the potential of being the next 'Everyman' hero that Spidey has lost over the years.

Cardiac - Why is he not on a team like Thunderbolts or involved in more books like DD when he's such a bastard?

Cloak&Dagger - Marvel's Bonnie&Clyde, they got some spot light in HoM but nothings has really brought them to the forefront.

Northstar - Marvel's most fleshed out gay hero and it's most known.

Jigsaw - Yeah he's a badguy but one who has endured this long with minor appearances and yet is readily recognizable and often mentioned as far as 'organized crime' baddies let him out to play.

Josiah X - Christopher Priest created him and hasn't been seen since 'the Crew' his connection to Captain America and his muslim faith are just ripe for stories to be told.

Jack of Hearts - I kinda liked him for a while ... nowadays I can't figure out why

Scarlet Witch - always been kind of a ho-hum character - actually kinda weak overall as far as superheroes go. She's not usually in the spotlight. Still, I used to have a thing for her ...

Isn't this the clown (with all the colors he's wearing he's gotta be a clown) that passes out at the sight of fire?

Electro could take Superman down if he wanted to. Speaking of which, Count Nefaria basically is Superman. Oh and Rogue used to be something more than Gambit's *****.

In no particular order:

Nova
Iron Fist
Quasar

Yeah,... And Darthphere considers HIM to be a serious Superhero,.. while SquirrelGirl is a joke???

Black Panther.
C'mon anyone who is willing to scrap with Ultron and make the robot scream, Bada**. (the perez/busiak Ultron saga) Also if properly built up and well written I can see a Black Panther movie being a box office Monster.

Iron Fist.
Remember as a kid reading the issue where he basically kicked the X-Mens butts till storm gets involved (granted it one at a time and just a misunderstanding but oh so cool at the time).

Both vastly underated and IMO underused. Marvel would do well to give either one a more prominant role in the marvel universe.

I think daredevil's ultron scrap undermines black panthers...

or did daredevil take out sentry, i can't recall...

Cardiac? The Eric Larson anti-hero from 90s? The guy with the artificial heart and the energy powers. I always thought he was a lame Punisher Wannabe.

I can agree with that. At first I didn't like Cannonballs costume and that honestly thru me off, and usually I could care less what a character wears as long as their well written or badass. Once I read a few issues of X-Force, and then later he joined X-Men I started to like him. I'll agree he is underrated.

I'll also agree with Apoc, but not Sinister so much. Sinister kinda had a run and was behind a lot of stuff in the past. I like him, but he seems better in the background plotting than constantly in the X-Men's face. Apoc on the other hand I feel has a ton of potential and could very easily be a much bigger threat. He's had one of the longest lifespans of an Earth based Marvel villain, understands Celestial tech to a degree atleast, has shown he has the strength to hold Hulk in a choke hold til Hulk asks to be let go. Plus his background always seemed cool to me. I'd like to see him hold his own against the Avengers myself as well, and maybe take in some powerful new horsemen.

I'ma say Iron Man, because everybody blasts him without good sense of their own.

Otherwise, I would say Gladiator.

Captain Marvel until Genis-vell stole that. Then Photon until Genis-vell stole that. And now she just goes by her name, until Genis comes back to steal it.

Her powers are controlling all light. She can become it, travel at it's speed, use it to blast things. Just light. Kind of cool and useful, really.

But she's the leader of Nextwave at the moment.
