*Obligatory introduction* Following the reveal at the end of New Avengers #51, Bendis has stated that there are many other Skrulls hiding among the MU heroes but hinted that some of the "obvious" ones (Iron Man, Cap) won't be. *Obligatory introduction*
So...obviously either Jessica Jones or Luke Cage (a Bendis creation and a character that Bendis treats like his own creation) is a Skrull based on the "Skrullish" eyes of their baby. What I'm wondering is how long Jones/Cage has been a Skrull. Bendis has stated himself that the Skrull thing has been "in the works" for 2-3 years which seems to be how long he's been jocking Cage and Jones.
Personally, I think it'd be hilarious if the new, Bendis-revived Luke Cage has been a Skrull the entire time he was on the Avengers (which his joining of seemed totally out of left-field). I like the guy since he's been put in the forefront but what if the Luke Cage I enjoyed was a Skrull imposter the entire time? Has the Skrull imposter been so sneaky that he managed to sneak into the video game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance? The old Luke Cage would've never been able to accomplish such a feat.t:
This may also spell even worse for Peter Parker's ego, considering the fact that his best friend on the Avengers was an alien spy who was essentially using him.
It's funny, cause this is one the main reasons people hated the Clone Saga so much. People felt insulted when they were told that the Peter Parker they've followed for the last 20 years had been an imposter. I suppose the difference in this instance is that Bendis had planned on certain characters being Skrulls for the last few years rather than relying on a retcon. He claims that there are several nods and winks hinting towards the identity of the Skrulls hidden through the last 2-3 years of comics. I'm curious to what these actually are. I UNDERSTAND the hatred towards the Clone Saga (even though it's my favorite period of Spidey comics) because I hated the fact that Peter was fake too. But, if Bendis is promising us an interesting ride that he's planned out for a while, then I wanna sit back, enjoy it, and try to find his clues.
